I never thought I could ever love a game more than I loved Final Fantasy III for the SNES system, and up until about three years ago, it was still my favorite game. Then I broke down and bought Diablo 2. Well here we are three years later, and I still play the game for at least an hour every day, most of the time a lot more. I go through stages of not playing it for a few months, but then I get the urge to go through it yet again. It keeps me interested because though the plot never changes, the outcome can be totally different every single time you play. The skill trees are huge, the variety of weapons, special weapons, rare items, magical items, etc... is almost unlimited. In addition to this, experimenting with the Horadric cube is also a really cool feature. Going through the game with all the different characters will take you quite awhile, and every time you do, you'll end up with a whole different set of items and weapons. The difficulty of the game greatly increases at the higher levels, and in the "Hell" setting, you must beat the entire game without dying once (I haven't yet done this). There's always more to see and do, and you'll always be excited to see what new stuff you can find. This game is very simple to understand and does not take a long time to get the hang of. You can basically play the entire game using the three buttons on the mouse plus a few hot keys on the keyboard. I'm usually more a fan of actual RPG's, but for a dungeon crawler, this game is perfect. For the ultimate experience, get the expansion addition, it makes the game 100 times better. Very highly recommended for fans of Baldur's Gate. This game is extremely addictive, and because of the millions of different outcomes the game offers, you'll be coming back for more long afer you beat the game.

Fun overall game

I had never played, or had the desire to play, an RPG before. I was strictly a first person shooter game type of girl. Even watching my boyfriend play Diablo 2 was unbearably boring.

And then I tried it myself....

It's easily the most addictive and fun game I've ever played. The game is fun in so many different ways, and the re-playability factor is high: You can play through the game as either an Amazon, Necromancer, Paladin, Sorceress, or Barbarian (also Assassin and Druid in the expansion pack), and when you beat the game on Normal difficulty level, you get a title added to your name to show off the fact that you're God and have the option of playing again on the next higher difficulty level.

Another thing that makes this game cool is items, items, items. There are so many set items and unique items, and trying to find them or trade for them is a game in itself.

I would definately recommend this game to anyone interested in RPGs. It's quite un-buggy, and is exciting to play. If I were you, however, I would invest a bit more money and purchase the Expansion Pack as well.

Now stop reading this and go play Diablo 2.

Diablo I was a great game, it just gobbled up the hours, one right after the other and gave you free access to web site to play with others. Diablo II is all that and more.
The additional characters was a pleasant treat but the addition of multi-level skills was just perfect for the RPG feel you are looking for in this style of game. The combat is real time and with the feature of being able to add select skills to function keys (F1, F2, etc.) made using magic practical.
This is one of the few computer games that is well worth the money they ask when it first comes out, and well worth what they are asking now.

Great Game with an intriguing storyline

Diablo II is a fine example of how RPG games should be made. I have never played the original Diablo before, so I can't really appreciate all the new additions to Diablo II. But I can tell you that Diablo II is an excellent game and I'm sure that if you purchase it, you will lose sleep and quality time with your family. I would recommend it to anyone.

Graphics are incredible and the monster and scenery variety is greatly improved. I am deep into Act III and am dreading the end of the game, but at least it is taking me longer than the day and half it took to finish Diablo I.

The Former Diablo Fan is wrong about saving the game!

I wanted to say that The Former Diablo Fan is wrong about the save system. Do not listen to him. All he does is just make people afraid of buying this game! When I first played this game I had the same problam like The Former Diablo Fan had- I didn't like the saving system but I got used to it! First thing I want to get clear is that you can save, and when you save what you have with you, or in your stash and your current level, skills, quest and map is saved. Only the enemies come back. And I learned how good that is. Believe me. I like it when the enemies come back. I killed Diablo 20 times in all modes- that is why I am a level 67 paladin. God knows what level I would have been if enemies wouldn't come back. If you don't like it, you can always run away from them. Don't listen to him. Buy DiabloII, and get some help for Stakes000... I know how it feels to start playing on battle.net at 9:00 PM and then look at my watch and see how I wasted almost a whole day and the time is 7:00 AM. Thank god there was summer vacation in Israel... NOOOOOO!!!!! IT ENDED!!!!!! :( BUY DIABLOII
