This a great game.If you liked Diablo 1 you will love Diablo II.Sometimes i get so hooked that i stay up all night. Also you can go on to battle net it may be a bit slow but its still fun. you can test your power agianst many other people. You can choose 5 different characters the amazon, necromancer, sorceres, paliden, and the barbarian. Each character has there own speacial powers.there are 4 acts and many creatures to slay. also threre are thousands of items that willn help you in your quest. I hope this reveiw will help youdecide if you want to get Diablo 2.

I've been playing Diablo 2 since it came out. If you want to play against other people, via Battle.net, expect to deal with lag issues, down servers, and various other problems. Should you be able to deal with this and decide to try hardcore mode (you die, your dead) be warned! Yesterday I lost a level 50 necromancer that I put hours upon hours upon hours into and this character died while I was OFFLINE! Blizzard will not help or restore my character, so I can no longer enjoy playing or recommend this game to anyone. I'm now looking for alternative games to play.

Although many games were sprouted by the Diablo series, this is a wasted product.

Who knew that a wasted product would sprout better RPGs. Anyway, pretty much in the sequel you got to fight a hero-went-bad who became Diablo (in the first installment the hero becomes Diablo). Pretty much, the plot is weak and worst of all is the fact that the monsters don't give much of a challenge (that is me obviously).

Despite that fact that I had some fun with D2, this game is flawed.

The Best PC game ever

This game was really fun. I enjoyed playing online with other gamers. The boss battles were intense and challenging, too.

Great game for a limited amount of time.

It's really hard to nail down how good or bad this game is. When I first got it, I thought it was fantastic. And for awhile I played it every day. But I think it gets old more quickly than it should.

In comparison to the original Diablo, Diablo 2 is a better game on all fronts. Higher resolution graphics presented in fantastic detail. High Blizzard standards hold true for the voice-acting. And absolutely fantastic cinemas that continue the storyline between Acts. The 5 classes all stand on their own very well, each utilizing different strategies to complete the same game. And even better, the classes work well with each other in multiplayer. The spells and skill trees add a new level of depth and complexity that is a welcome change from the static growth of the original. The list continues to cover every fact of the game. Of the two games, this is the Diablo to get.

The bad side of all of this is that I felt it should have been more. In a way, it's wrong to feel that way. It is just more of the same with some upgrades. The repetitious hacking and clicking wore on me to the point that I stopped playing. But that is what Diablo is and what I loved about the original. But I tired of the original a long time ago and this one kept my interest only long enough to finish the game (so I could see the final cinema). Aside from that, the graphics appear dithered and dated in comparison to what we are used to. The use of 3D acceleration seems to be tacked on as a buzzword more than anything else and in many cases the software rendering is superior to the 3D accelerator rendering. And at that, it's only for some of the spell and lighting effects.

Multiplayer was a mixed bag for me. I got the game when it first came out. The Realms were plagued with problems and I gave up trying to use them. I have a consistent group of friends whom I played TCP/IP games with constantly. I never played the game in single-player mode, can't imagine why anyone would want to. But I have no basis to judge the Realm servers on. As they are the only means, aside from trusted friends, to protect yourself from playing with or being victimized by hacks, you'll have to decide on them for yourself. It's all free, so it's well worth an attempt.

Had it come out closer to the original, I think my review would have been better. But after so long, I expected something more, perhaps wrongly so. Nonetheless, it is an excellent hack n'slash game with fantastic cinemas. I'd recommend it to anyone with some warning of what to expect.

Good game marred by awful save feature

Do you really need a review? If you loved Diablo, you'll probably love Diablo 2. It's the same hack-things-up-and-revel-in-the-bloodshed good clean fun of the original, but a whole lot bigger. Everything about it is wonderful... except the save game "feature." And that's bad enough to knock my rating down two stars. Now, when you save, you're forced to exit the game, and you start back in the main city where you begin whichever act you happen to be in. If you're between "waypoints" (and there are sometimes rather large expanses between waypoints, especially in Act III), there's no easy method for saving. It seems Blizzard forgot computers are used for playing anything but Diablo, and thus didn't feel the need to create a game that can be saved when necessary. If you can get past that, though, it's just as much fun whacking monsters as it always was. (The nod to Trilogy of Terror is also wonderful. Take a real close look at the Rat Men/Soul Killers, then go watch Trilogy of Terror...)

Blizzard gives birth to another bad egg

The only diabolical thing about this game is how bad it is. Blizzard's strategy is this: make the game so much fun in the beginning that you sell lots o copies and than later it is no more fun. They make more money faster that way. But wasting money for this game which you will shelf after realizing there's nothing more to do is a bad idea. Hack, slash, pick up, hack slash, level up, pick up, hack, slash, player killer, hack, slash, kill, level up. That's how i can describe the game. Do yourself a favor, if you're a hack and slasher buy a hack and slasher that is actual FUN and doesn't try to be something it's not. RPG fans should really turn away from this.

...

What, I cant give it negative number of stars?

Actually my rating would be -5. Why? Because not all games were manufactured equal. Mine was missing several files when I put it on my PC. No matter how many bunches of times I reinstalled it, it kept crashing. Diablo II would make a great game, if I could play it for 5 minutes without it crashing. In multiplayer, when it crashes, the multiplayer game will think its a cheat...and it will reset the characters back to their normal status before they entered the game. This copy was bought legally at Target. In summary, Diablo II is 3 disks full of massive glitches.
