Rouge squad. is deffanatly the best game for N-64. I just got it for Christmas and I am already on the 7th level, the Imperael construction mission, and I love it!!I don't think you should even compare it with 'Shadows'. It is a much better game than that. Just in case you skip my summery, I will give you a reason to read it. Over all, it is a very good game and I sugest for you to get it while stores still have it.

A MUST for Star Wars fans and/or N64 owners alike!

Shadows of the Empire was a good game, and this game mearly improves on the best level: the first level, Hoth. And it does that very well. While the learning curve is somewhat higher than most games, this one mixes great graphics, good gameplay and an interesting storyline. Even without the RAM expansion pack (which is very difficult to find -- I haven't found a store yet that ISN'T sold out), the graphics are quite good. For Star Wars fans, myself included, being able to fly the different Rebel ships is great. And be sure to use the codes that allow you to fly the Millenium Falcon and the TIE Fighter -- FARMBOY AND TIEDUP. If you can find this game, buy it. You won't be disappointed, especially if you like Star Wars.

The best flying game ever.

Rogue Squadron is undeniably the greatest Star Wars game next to Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader. For the N64, this game marked a turning point in graphics capabilites with the addition of the expansion pack. This addvent allowed extra memory to be distributed towards the graphics engine. In doing this, the game is able to produce Hi-Res graphics, as long as you have the Expansion Pack. Rogue Squadron features every aspect that Rogue Leader has, except for the graphics. Play control, music, sound, game design, they're all exceptional. The only difference between the two games is the missions, and the graphics. Rogue Squadron is a good supplement to Rogue Leader, and in ways the original can be more difficult than the sequel. Rogue Squadron also features hidden ships and missions, making the game that much better. No Star Wars, or action fan will want to miss out on this fantastic title.

A Must for every Star Wars Fan!

I like Rogue Squadron not only because of the incredible graphics and game play but because of the tremendous REPLAY value. You can return to missions you have previously finished in any order you wish and much as you wish to go for the gold! It also has some great hidden codes (available on most video game sites) that add to the overall quality of enjoyment...flying the Millenium Falcon comes to mind. The controls are difficult to master if you are not familiar with flight simulation, but I found that as more I played the easier the game became (but not easy enough to grab a gold metal yet!).

The music is short of CD quality, but still a great improvement for the cartridge format. Chatter among pilots is neat, but becomes predictable after playing the levels often.

This is definitely a challenging game that grows on you. I love nothing more than bringing down AT-ATs in my very own snowspeeder. The romance you had for Star Wars as a kid will definitely respark after playing on Tatooine and a Hoth-like level.

This game is worthy of carrying the Star Wars name. Lucasarts has done it again!

crisp graphics, a tad slow, fans of sw/nonfans...love it

Rogue Squadron, the follow up of Lucas Arts lacklustre SOTE, is huge! Dive head first into this triumph and absorb the star wars world. Fans and nonfans alike can enjoy the crisp graphics and John Williams' booming score. That is where RS is most successful: it's superb sound, crank up the volume to here screeching TIE fighters wizz all around you. Another huge plus is the uncompromising attention to detail, every rock face is immaculately detailed, slam in an expansion pack and the hi-res graphics would do a PC game proud. BUT RS is not at all without its problems: the ships are all pretty damn slow and the fogging gets a bit too much in some places. So, Rogue Squadron is a top notch space sim romp, not without its problems but a big contender for Lylat Wars' crown. purchase and enjoy!cheats:- play as Luke Skywalker on foot: enter LUKEFEET as a password. fly the millenium falcon: enter FARMBOY as a password.(more next week!).

Star Wars Rogue Squadron A Perfect N64 Game By any Standard

Finally The N64 is a true gaming console thanks to lucas arts and the star was team. They say you can only fly 5 ships but then...... why is Han Solo's Falcon sitting in the docking bay hmmmm..... So saddle up and take the controls of the highly advanced V-Wing and take down some TIE Interceptors. And tell all your friends that you'll talk to them in a few weeks........Your kinda busy This is not just a Flight Sim , its by far the most intense, stressful shoot-em-up in years....If you dont have an N64 buy one even if this is the only game youll ever buy... PS. my playstation has been off since tuesday....And the red light on mmy nintendo stays on till the wee hours of the early morn.........

A must have for STAR WARS FANS!

STAR WARS: Rogue Squadron is perhaps the best N64 game to date. Although Zelda 64 is very good, Rogue Squadron can use Nintendo's new EXPANSION PACK. You do not need the pack to play, but it makes a very big difference in the graphics quality. (Expansion Pack is a 4 Meg memory upgrade)

The pack allows you to play the game in high resolution mode, this means the game becomes very life-like and makes you feel like you are in a Star Wars movie.

I was equally impressed with the storyline of the game. Unlike SHADOWS OF THE EMPIRE, (the earlier Star Wars based game) this game is entirely more 'realistic'. For example, in Shadows, you play Dash Rendar - some no name character who doesn't really fit George Lucas's story. But in ROGUE SQUADRON, you actually are the one and only Luke Skywalker.

The storyline takes place during the most exciting time in the triology. It is after the destruction of the Death Star and before the battle at Hoth. So Skywalker is not a Jedi yet and the Rebellion is still the brash underdog against the mighty Empire.

The storyline and the graphics are both incredibly detailed and match the Star Wars universe seamlessly.

If you are a true Star Wars fan (who isn't?) this is the fantasy game that all gamers aspire for - to live Star Wars just like in the movie.

Believe me, this is reason enough alone to justify the purchase.

A very fine game!

Excellent gameplay and sound effects make for a good flight expeirience and a very realistic enviroment! Lots of talk on the radio about the status of the mission and of course the occasinal death scream. [although i think they overdid it with Lukes scream!]
