A fun game

When I first rented this game I thought it was awsome,so I rented it again and again.And finally the store that I rented the game from put the game on sale.So when I saw it I bought it. I've had hours and hours of fun playing this game and so have my friends when I invite them to come over.I like the good graphics of this game.This game features a lot of fun and challenging courses,and many Drivers and thier podracers to chose from.I like how you can turn on the boosters and if you keep them on to long you will start on fire.My friend and I always race and I always win but sometimes we just mess around and sit on the side of the road(path)being Sebulba and wait for other racers to go by and use the fire and make them start on fire.Some downers about this game is it only goes up to 2 players and you have to beat the game before you can race with sebulba.Good racing game to get, especially if you're a Star Wars fan wich I am.

What is fun about it, what is not.... make a SEQUEL!

Well, I love moving this fast in a vgame. I enjoyed playing in the Tatooine course, and the made-up levels actually seem like real STAR WARS designs, unlike Rogue Squadron 2. Often you're racing through a level, and you kind of want to stop playing....but you don't, because you want to make the next turn, or just love peacefully gliding over the land at that speed. I never got into tuning up the racers, maybe there's something lacking there. You aren't often right beside the other pod, it would have been nice to implement an element of slamming into the other pod to have a fun/dangerous fight while performing the race, if that option were here and was fun, it would provide an all-new level of depth/excitement to the game, maybe if you had to avoid Subulba like the film. I thought I heard there will be a sequel to this game, hopefully they will optimize it for the next-gen systems like Xbox, because they didn't when this was merely ported to Sega Dreamcast. A sequel would make a cool online game, but make they could introduce AOTC areas or make a 3-4 more Tatooine levels. The graphics here are very smudgey, I would advise getting the PC or DC version or something, but it's worth getting as it is so [inexpensive] now.

This game earns 4 stars for fun.
Pros
Fairly good graphics and some good sound effects plus your favorite STAR WARS characters.
Cons
Boring motive and the only thing you can do on this cartridge is race.
Overall
An okay game that probably won't be found in your attic.

Star Wars Episode Racer is a surprisingly fun racing game. It won't make you forget Mario Kart, but it's still a good game to pass the time. If you've seen Episode I you know you'll race the pod racers around several Star Wars racing arenas. The levels are nicely designed, the graphics are good for the time, the racing mechanics are very smooth, plus this game has an insane sense of speed that feels very similar to F-Zero or Top Gear 3000. The gameplay is very smooth and never gives you any trouble. This game has damage modeling for your pod racer, so if you scratch up against a wall too much, one of your engines will explode and you will explode and die. Or, if you crash into a wall to fast you will explode and die, but it's always fun to hear Anakin scream when he explodes. You have many different characters to choose from along with levels which really keeps things fresh and exciting. The main flaws with this game is sometimes it can get a little boring, and the graphics are dated. But if you want to play something other than Mario Kart of F-Zero for your N64, this game is definitely the fix you've been looking for.

This Game was exiting and fun. Fast pace action that's addicting. There was a small draw back though. You only go head-to-head with one other player. I wish you could do more. I guess they thought that with that kind of speed, you needed most of the screen to play. Still a wonderful game.

episode 1 racer

This is a great racing game with the mild RPG elments of getting better parts for your pods. The tracks are unique and interesting, but can be extremly difficult at times. One of the main things that keeps this game going is that you can get many hidden characters. Some firmilar faces from episode 1 appear in this game. Too bad you can't use weapons though (Sebulba is the only exception, but they're kinda useles...) a battle mode would've rocked. They're are many controlls that will require your "jedi reflexes." The dreamcast version is better, so if it's an option to get the DC version, get it, but this is a great treat to N64 owners.

I bought this game for my 10 year old nephew. And after he said thank you, he said the game was EXCELLENT. I guess that should state it all.
