This game is great for a racer! It doesnt get old as quick as most other racing games, because:
1) You customize your pod. After every race that you win you get some prize money. You can buy new and better parts for your pod.
2) You arent just stuck with one character. There are over twenty different characters that you can race with.
3) There are lots of different planets to race on.
4) You can taunt your opponents.
All in all it's a great game, and you should buy it.
This is a pretty good racing game

Star Wars Episode 1 Racer. Well, in this game you play as one of many characters that can be unlocked by winning races and setting records. After each race, if you place high enough, you can upgrade your podracer by buying new parts, or searching through Watto's Junkyard. There is a multiplayer, but it is pretty standard, just a split screen racing option. This is a pretty good game, and ... it's a great buy. I commend Lucasartss for the feeling of really fast racing, but besides this and the ability to buy parts, this game is essentially nascar on different planets with space ships and a winner title.
Watch out for that flame jet!

This is an AWESOME game. It's so much fun to be cruisin at 700+ MPH and all the sudden Sebulba comes and flames you into oblivion. There are 25 courses, and each one holds it's own unique challenge. They can range from the dusty terrain of Tatooine to the gravity-defying vacuum tunnels on Oovo IV. The only problem I can really see is the music. Star Wars: Rogue Squadron got an award for best music, but racer barely has any. The only time music really activates is on the last lap of any race.
I love it!

When Star Wars Episode I - The Phantom Menace was release, people were expecting a lot out of it - and were severely disappointed. However, the film, while subpar, offered its share of interesting scenes, the most interesting of which being Anakin Skywalker participating in a Podrace. This scene was so amazing, Lucas Arts made a game exclusively about it. Read on for my review of Star Wars Episode I Racer.
PROS:
-If you're a fan of Star Wars and racing games, this game will really appeal to you.
-You can choose from several different racers, each with his own machine.
-You can unlock new tracks and racers as you progress through the game.
-To make your craft better, you can purchase new parts for it at Watto's shop. The parts you buy work on ALL your racers, so you don't have to buy them more than once.
-No two racers are exactly alike.
-The ultra-fast pace of the game is going to appeal to racing game fans.
-If you want to get the most out of the game, you can steer with a two-controller scheme, mimicking the film.
-You can race against a friend.
CONS:
-Amazon said it best - NO racing game can hold your attention forever.
-Sebulba has an unfair advantage over other racers - a flamethrower weapon.
-Graphics pale in comparison to the game's PC counterpart.
-No three or four player mode.
-It's a Nintendo 64 game, meaning you have to use the system's godawful controller if you don't have a steering wheel peripheral.
-The Expansion Pak does nothing to improve the resolution or graphics (it's this way on EVERY N64 game.)
OVERALL:
This is a good (but not great) game overall. If you have the now-extinct N64, and you want to have a good time with it, this game is recommended, since a number of stores carry it for a very low price these days, both new and used. Episode I was a lame movie, but fortunately, I can't say the same about this game.

The only drawback to this game is that, while playing, you can't stop to pay attention to the extensive graphics that fill every race. This game is challenging, highly addictive, and fun, especially when you run an alien off the road. DO NOT PLAY BEFORE OPERATING A VEHICLE. It might effect your driving skills.
BORING!

This game actually gets a 4 1/2 star rating and I'll tell you why. I love this game. I've beaten the entire game about a million times over. My only problem, is that I had to wait for so long to unlock my favorite character in racer and all of the movies (next to Yoda): Sebulba. There are three tounaments: Amateur, Semi-Pro, and Galactic. Each has 7 tracks and you have to finish one before you move on to the next one. You unlock Sebulba from the Boonta Classic, race 7 of the Galactic circuit and the race from the movie. Finish this race at all, and the credits pop up. The problem is that I've already done most other races when I get my favorite character. There's nothing I can do with him except beat some records and race the 4 invitational tracks that open up afer each curcuit. Why can't Sebulba be one of the starting racers?! Is it the Flamejet? The Speed? What?! I'm asking!
Anyway, I highly reccomend this game, but Sebulba fans will be slightly disappointed.
