This is still one of my favorite 64 games, even after almost a year after first completing it. I find myself trying to find new shortcuts to shave a few seconds off my time. There is definetly good replay value with this game.

1) Game speed is remarkable, you feel just like you are flying 4 feet off the ground at 600+ MPH

2) Large number of tracks means you will always have something new to explore.

3) Sound is adequate, but really sticks with the mood. Like on the last lap, you feel the excitment and pressure build in the music as you race.

Overall the game is a great buy. You wont be dissapointed and will always have new challenges ahead. The game is NOT easy, especially the third tier of the game, but practice and determination will pay off. Good luck and have fun.

I bought podracer about a week ago and i'm already tired of the game. It was a really fun game for about two days, but ramming into walls and exploding every minute gets old. Once you get past the first section of races the next section is so hard that its more frustrating than fun. The only really good part of the game is you earn podracers and money to upgrade your podracers by winning the races, but in time you start losing all the races and stop earning money. The two player racing is okay, but i would rather race someone in a race car game than in a pod racer game because in podracer if you try to ram each others podracer you go right through them and damage your podracer.

Another Great Lucas Arts Product

I purchased this game and the Nintendo 64 for my sister at Christmas time. She was so excited, but it seemed it wasn't only for her. The whole family began playing it! We all took turns, and some even faught over it. We were amazed by the graphics, sounds, and entertainment this game brought. Out of all the games we purchased after it, Star Wars Racer seems to be our favorite right beside Rogue Squandron. I began to race as Anakin, but later I was given choices to be several other racers. I can't get to be Sebulba yet, but I keep playing and hope soon will. Purchase this item, and get that same challenge as I have.

Could Nintendo Have Done Better?

I don't think so. Here are my thoughs: Pro's -All the same pods from The Phantom Menice -Every pod is very compettitive Con's -Sometimes race tracks con be hard to see; therefore crashing -Aninikan's pod is not the fastest

Overall this is a great game. If I were getting a racing game I'd ger this one

The track's get boring after the first level...

One of the most exciting and visually dazzling scenes of the long anticipated Star Wars Episode 1 was the podrace. We were all on the edge of our seats as Anakin and Sebolba dodged obsticles and avoided the shots of Tusken Raiders. Who didn't want to be in Anakin's shoes at that moment?

Nintendo had the chance to create an amazing game, with challenges of such magnitude that we could really feel as though we were flying in a pod.

Unfortunately they didn't. You dodge obstacles and try to pass other people. And that's about it. No special features for the pods (with the exception of Sebolba's flame thrower), no interesting tracks, just dodging obstacles and trying to pass other people.

Even I, a die hard Star Wars freak, couldn't find joy in the game. If you want a fun racing game get Hydrothunder, or Road Rash 64, even Mario Kart.

What it comes down to is this: the tracks all seem the same after level 1.

....

Best courses for a racing game, original and imaginative

I am no fan of star wars, however, this is a really great game that has gotten a bad rap, because it came with N64 systems. First off the graphics cannot be beaten, everything is extremely detailed from the textures to the fact that every part of the pod racers moves and shutters. This game offers more than one dozen pod racers and drivers, each is unique with unique speeds, skills, traction breaks and so on, each pod racer must be earned though by coming in first for the race where the pod racer is featured. Along the way you pick up "cash" from bets that you come in first, second or third, then you use this cash to buy better parts to your pod racer and pit droids to quickly repair your racer. This is a highly imaginative game complete with three major circuits and a special circuit, in terms of the courses themselves I am a fan of racing games and nothing has ever gotten this amazing, jumps that will take your breath away, ice caverns that try to trick you, anti gravity tubes that will let you fly, swamps that will boggle your mind and speeds to boggle your mind too. The difficulty in the races range from circular to near impossible, with eruptions of fire and snipers shooting at you from high above. For Amazon's price, you need to get this game!

Starwars Episode 1 Racer is a good game with many challenging levels, however, they are a little too challenging. I found navigating my ship through this level was very hard. This game is a very good buy for (the price), though.
