A totally new idea AND cheap photography lessons

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 2 / 2
Date: December 28, 1999

Finally! This a new idea in gaming, after years of Doom! clones and 3d-scrolling wannabees. If you're bored or disgusted with blood-and-bash games, try this!

This game is deceptively simple. Anyone can get a few point but to get a good score takes planning ahead and good timing. You can't just hose everything in sight because you have limited film.

The scoring engine also shows how to take better pictures (although it doesn't recognize the very best art - critics never do!) What a concept! An action game that actually helps you learn something useful!

In the next version of the game, I would like a "reverse" gear on the vehicle, or even better, to take the car off the track & drive around. Buying & selling film might add a strategic element. Using video of real live animals (see the movie "Wild America") would be a hoot!

But this game, as it is, is an instant classic. It could be the beginning of a genre.

It's great and non-violent!

As a mother concerned with the amount of violence that children encounter every day, I would like to say that this was a refreshing change and very addictive! It does end fast but for my young children (age 3 and 6) they don't care if it's over - once it's cleared they'll play it again and try to top their scores. I finished it in 2 days but got caught up enough to play for another week! I give this 4 stars! But if you're in your teens, I can see why it would be boring!

Snap is a great game. Period.

The thing about Snap is that it is always different. You may get one really good shot in one game and then try again to beat the score you got. It is kind of difficult to figure out how to get all 63 species in the game, but once you do you'll remember how to get it. I really enjoyed this game because it isn't too complicated and is short enough to finish on a rainy afternoon. A perfect game for the beginner player. Control is great and so are the graphics. Have Fun!

Very Original Video Game

You go through several areas and photograph pokemon in their natural habitats. You can go though your processed photos and submit them for grading. The highest-scoring photos are saved. It makes photography come to life for non-enthusiasts like me! The biggest drawback to this game is that it only inclues 63 of the 150 original pokemon.

good, clean fun

If parents are having trouble finding a violent-free game for their little kids, they'll fall in love with this game. This game is not simple though, because when you take pictures, you get scored for them, this depends on the angle, the pose, etc. Once you get enough points, you can go onto the next stage. Another thing that occasionally happens when you get enough points is you'll get new items to attract the pokemon, you can get better shots this way. This game is easy to learn, but hard to master. This is a definite buy for little kids, but anyone over ten might just want to rent it. If you play your cards..er...cameras right, you might find Mew...

Great learning game, 3D, color Pokemon a must have

I know nothing about Pokemon, however I have learned with this game, and I had some fun while doing it! This is the first game to bring the Pokemon to life in their true 3D habitat as you ride in a little car taking pictures of the Pokemon. There are only six levels, each with about 15 or 20 Pokemon in each. The Pokemon each have their little powers and when they get together they fight or do little dances. The game moves a little slow because you are stuck in a car that is moving along a track, but there are items you get later in the game to speed up the car and to help you get better pictures, like sneeze balls, apples to feed them, a flute. Parents should even play this game to learn the Pokemon names and habits to better understand their childrenýs interests. This would be a five star game, however there were only about 60 Pokemon and not all of the original 150.

BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!

What are you looking for in a game? Are you looking for action, adventure, learning, or boring hours of repeated gameplay? If you are looking for the fourth choice, you definantly found it. I could give myself more entertainment with watching Barney. Seriously, unless you are looking for endless hours of taking pictures of little (...) creatures jumping around on the screen, Don't Get This.

Stupid Game!!!

This game really sucks! I rented it once for five days and I played it for one day and then I beat it! It was so stupid. It is worse than mario party 3! If you are a first time game player, don't get this game. If you have been playing Games for 50 years, don't get this game. This is the worst game ever.

boo!

If I could pick the most boring, esiest game in the world,I would pick this one. All you do is z+a=a picture. Throughout the levels you get things like bait and stuff, but unless your a serous camera fan, this game should be reccomended to no one.

A total waste of time and money

Someone, somewhere decided to play a cruel, cruel joke on the world, and out of that decision came the vile game Pokemon Snap. You sit in a cart, and do the tedious and tired task of photographing overly-cute Pokemon. I think Pokemon Bang would've have been a MUCH better idea.
