This has been an enjoyable game to play with my kids. I have often wondered what they have been talking about with trading cards and pokemon figures. This game that takes you through Pokemon Island took my kids and me together. Enjoying the thrill of finding Pokemon in many different and strange places. Enjoying taking pictures and seeing who took the best picture. Helping each other find different and wild ways of bringing these pokemon out in the open, and finding ways to make them do different things. This is better than a game board. My kids and I were able to spend some real quality time together, and I found out a lot more about the Pokemon. I recommend this as a family fun game, but beware parents you can become just as addicted as your kids.

I'm 15 and, well, even though it was beat quickly, no games can last forever, can they? I'd still say it was fun. I would NEVER reccomend this game for players over 12 or under 6. It's pretty challenging becuase it has many "secrets", but I'm sure more experienced (I'm not that good) teens would find this a bore. The point of the game is to take pics of all the pokemon. When you get pionts you can get items to help you get good shots. There is no violence, in fact, it's one of the most non-violent games I've ever played. Also, you would probably like this game a ton more if you liked pokemon. Don't get this for a child who dislikes pokemon. I'd probaly suggest renting this game before purchaing it so you can "test run" it and make sure that it's not a wast of $ for you.
Photographing Pokemon, who'd thought it'd be so much fun

The Pokemon phenomenon made its N64 debut with this game. Many people don't see this title to be as stellar a game as it actually is. Hired by Professor Oak, you're task is to travel through areas in the Zero-One, taking pictures of each and every Pokemon you see. The courses are preset, but you can dictate somewhat how you go about the area. You're also given a number of items to use in order to better the pictures you take. You can use bait to draw Pokemon out into the open, or other devices as well. Though not all the Pokemon appear in this game, there's enough of them to keep you interested for some time. The game contains picture perfect graphics, precise play control, good sound and music, and of course the game design is fantastic. Very seldom a dull moment occurs in this game. Whether it be discovering new courses to shoot photos, new Pokemon, or numerous other items, Pokemon Snap can keep you occupied for play after play.

Pokemon Snap was an eye-opener - finally! a fun game for me and my 6yo son. Neither of us have much experience with video games (do the Lost Years spent playing Tetris for Macintosh count? :) This was our first time using the Nintendo joystick, and we both had some trouble mastering the controls. Listening and watching for Pokemon characters while snapping a photo while panning the camera while the car is moving... you get the idea.
Once you master the camera, the game is fun and challenging - to a point. There are a few quirks - for example, the presentation of the character "Professor Oak" has some glaring flaws. (He has a lot of lines to deliver, but only the first line in each scene is spoken. If the player is below reading age this could be very frustrating.)
I agree with other reviewers, the game doesn't have legs. I can't imagine playing more than a few times. Nonetheless it's a great game for younger players.

A different Pokémon Adventure but not very exciting

Pokémon Snap's biggest advantage is the fact that it is a needed break from the constant battling world of Pokémon, just like the other great Nintendo 64 release, "Hey you, Pikachu!" However, although the game is much different, it doesn't have half the adventure of the original games and the biggest problem being that the game is very short and can be beaten within a few hours and it won't have you going back to it very often.
In "Pokémon Snap," your challenge is to travel through differently themed courses snapping pictures of different Pokémon in their natural habitats. It doesn't sound too exciting, but the game also features a few hidden secrets and different objects that can make each visit to the course quite different. You may encounter some Pokémon facing the other way without you being able to take a proper picture, however, later on in the game you'll be happy to be introduced to a new object, like an Apple, a Pester Ball or the Pokéflute, which will make different Pokémon have different reactions, some may evolve, some may dance to the sound of music and others will simply pose on super especial way giving you extra points. Yes, you are given points for each picture and your goal is to try to take your best shot of each of the 63 Pokémon featured in the game. Indeed, only 63, this can quite be a disappointment to a fan of a specific Pokémon (No Seadra, no Tangela, no Poliwhirl and no Tentacruel... Why did I buy this game?!) Another pretty annoying problem is the fact that Professor Oak isn't the best judge of Pokémon photography and he might have you thinking several times, "Wait, that shot was way better than my last one!"
A big disappointment was the fact that you cannot choose where you are going, whenever you chose a course, you travel through the exact same trail each time and you really can't stop to take a proper picture, because the vehicle you travel in doesn't have a stop option, later in the game, you are given a turbo option which will allow you to go faster through the course, in case you are just there for a specific Pokémon and want to make it snappy. The game's enviroments are very colorful and look quite realistic, the graphics are sharp enough and the movements and animations are well done. The sound is nice, different course, different music and each Pokémon here actually has their TV Series signature growl, something that went missing in Pokémon Stadium.
If you are Pokémon Fanatic, you might enjoy Pokémon Snap, but if you are not, you may not enjoy it as much or find a point to it.
I found it quite enjoyable the first times I played, but now, I've gotten through it several times and don't necessarily feel a need to go back to it.
This is a very cool game.

This game is great. I don't mean to sound like a parent, but Pokemon Snap is a good, fun game that doesn't promote violence, like Turok and stuff like that. Instead of blowing up tanks or whatever, you take pictures of different Pokemon. It is a lot of fun to start a new PKMN (probably short for POKEMON) Report and have every picture you take be "NEW!", but it gets old after a while. Beat this game once, leave it for a week or so, come back to it and voila! Fun Factor restored. Overall, an exellent game.

This game is the worst game I've ever played with! It was dumb and boring. You just take pictures of Pokemon and that is not a challenge. The other games like Pokemon Yellow and Blue are much better.i suggest those games.
not as cool as other pokemon games

This game may be appealing to the eye and ear. The name Pokemon will sell the game by itself. But after you get the game, you play it for a couple of hours and you're done. There is not much to do in it. The graphics are pretty darn cool but the fun factor is just way too low.

I really liked this game. It's fun taking pictures of all the pokemon and finding different "secrets" and challenges through out the different segments of the game. I would not call them levels because they are all at about the same level of difficulty except for the last segment. I have yet to photograph the cat.. The real challenge lies in trying to get the best possible photograph of the little guys. I would have liked it better if there were more Pokemon to take pictures of. For example, when you are going down the river there are times when all you do is cruise. There is absolutly nothing to photograph. What a waste of time. The pluses outweigh the minuses so I would recommend this game to anyone. You get really bummed out when you just can't do any better cause you've had so much fun getting to where you got. The bottom line: the fun's over too soon.
