for a short time, then it got pretty boring for us adults. kids love it. It's good because it's nonviolent, and can be challenging.
Only for the die-hard in all of us

If you call yourself a Pokémon fan, then this clever, little game is right up your alley. Where else can you take pictures of your favorite Pokémon in full-fledged 3D? Right here. The idea is grand, but the game has its downfalls. First, you can't just wander through the [several] levels, snapping pictures away. You have to ride a pre-routed cart on a pair of tracks. It keeps things simple and straightforward, but it doesn't have the same feel as actually gettting hands-on with these critters. Also, the game only features 63 of the 151 Pokémon out there. Regardless, I definitely encourage Pokémon fans to at least rent this gem. But after a while, you'll notice that the Pokémon can only do so many wonderful things. Hats off to an original take. But we're taking the hat back because it's not nearly as good as it should have been.

I was dying to get this game. Then one day I went to my friend Amanda's house. She had Pokemon Snap. So we played a little and I thoght,"Wow! I've gotta get this game for myself!" So, as I'm ordering it, I decide to write a review. So, here's the review:
Pokemon Snap has good graphics, but I have seen better graphics. But the fun things you do while playing can make up for that. First of all, you pick a course to go on. Then, once you're there, you must take pictures of pokemon. Once you get to the end of the course, you have to look at all your pictures and decide which ones you should show Prof. Oak. Then pick ones for your album. when you're fineshed doing that, you go to Prof. Oak and he'll rate the pictures you showed him. He'll also give you points. The better the rating, the more points you get! You don't start out with all the courses. For instance, when I was playing with Amanda, Prof. Oak said,"You have to shot 1 more kind of pokemon to open up a new course." So, in other words, there is a pokemon that she never got a picture of before, and she needs to get it (a picture of it) in order to open a new course.
So basicly, this is a good game and I would highly reccomend it to all those pokefans and pokemaniacs out there!
A fun game for all ages

This game is really fun.You go through 7 different courses taking pictures of pokemon. You start out on the beach course and have to get a certain ammount of pictures to go to the next course.Through out the game Profesor Oak will give you items to help you get better pictures.I think the game is really fun but once you beat the game it isn't as fun any more because you know where all the pokemon are.I hope this review helped you!
Great for kids of all ages !

This game is so much fun! You don't even have to be all that good at video games! It's easy to learn and fun to play! No one feels dowsn or superior because of this game. Everyone will enjoy trying to capture a picture of these lovable Pokemon! It's a must-have for all who own N64.

My brother got this game for his birhthday and we both can't stop playing it, it's so fun. Although some people might think it's boring just by looking because all you do is ride around and take pictures. But they give you special things to make it easier and challenges. When you take pictures of pokemon you got them rated (by professer Oak) for points, and when you get a certain amount of points you get a new level. It is really fun! Although there is one problem, only one person can have a game started at a time.
Good Starter Game

I've had N64 for a couple of years, but my first game was Pokemon Snap. It's a good one for learning the basic controls of N64. Gets a tad boring after a while, but is still fun for younger kids. Is also good because I never really liked all the fighting stuff, all you do here is take pics. If you have a N64 and a younger child who likes Pokemon, definately get it.
Unique, original, creative, and for ALL ages.

I came to this page hoping to find a list of games as creative, playful, and original as Pokemon Snap, but alas: do they exist? I do think of Animal Crossing, though that game dwarfs this one completely.
First: I've played all kinds of games; I first encountered this one two years ago, and just dug it out again, and so I'm here wishing there was another game like it. This game is absolutely for all ages (I'm 36); I don't believe that this game's enjoyment depends on age, but whether you're happy to play something that doesn't involve combat (don't get me wrong: I love all types of games), and is even creative. I've absolutely no interest in Pokemon, but it doesn't matter what these characters are: they're just animals to me.
Gameplay itself: you're assisting a professor that's studying the Pokemon species. You travel through different settings at a constant speed on a fixed path, and must swivel about snapping photos of these critters, who move and do amusing things; you'll have to make repeated visits to get the best snaps possible, from various angles, with different poses. You can go back as often as you like (which is all part of the fun), hoping to get better pictures and/or of Pokemon you've missed.
Then (this is brilliantly done), the professor rates your photos by how well the shot has captured the animal, like centering it in your picture; getting the most definitive shot, capturing its features, profile, and proximity); and even points for creativity. You can store your shots in a scrapbook, keeping the best (in terms of points scored, and just keeping your own favorites).
I wish that there were more games like Pokemon Snap; if anyone knows of a similar game, I'd love to hear about it.
Lots of fun, but much too short

Considering this game is used and cheap now for a retired system, I'd recommend a purchase just to see a type of gameplay that Nintendo never tried again. You are a photographer, and have been hired by Professor Oak to document Pokemon living in the wild. You ride through levels on a fixed track, snapping photos. You have a few items at your disposal to help spur the Pokemon into different actions, which racks up better photos and more points. The graphics are somewhat average, but the Pokemon animate well. Controls are easy to master.
So yeah it's very different and very fun, but in the end much too short. You have six levels and a bonus seventh level (that really isn't much of a level), but you see less than half of the original 151 Pokemon. Getting better photos gives the game some replay value, but you can basically see everything in a weekend. But like I mentioned above, it's cheap now, and the novelty makes it worth a buy for fans and non-fans alike.
Not that bad really

Believe it or not. It's incredibly fun. Yes, it may be pokemon, but even people who don't like pokemon should play through this once. The only reason I'm selling mine is because I've played it over and over and over. There's enough to keep you entertained for days and some problem solving is involved as well. The only draw back is that sometimes I had to look up how to make certain creatures evolve and that you have to play the same levels over a few times. Really though, this game is pretty fun and is worth it for a few bucks for a christmas present for someone! Especially pokemon enthusiasts!
