Only one word is needed to describe this game, I think you can guess what it is. Anyone who doesn't give this game a 5, or AT LEAST a 4, obviously does not know what a good game is. This is by far the most entertaining game, EVER! Thats all I'm gonna' say. JUST BUY IT NOW!

Perfect Dark: It tells you how good it is right in the name

Well, Perfect Dark is just that: perfect. I played it at a friends house, and ordered it via the internet that day. The number of modes is incredible, and the game play is totally immersing. At first, I thought it was going to be a Goldeneye clone, and decided not to buy it. Then I played it. Co-op is very addictive, as well as the challenge mode. If you liked Goldeneye, even only a little, buy this game NOW! I promise you won't be dissapointed.

Well maybe not the best but one hell of a game! From the makers of Goldeneye Perfect Dark will help set the way for games to come. If you haven't already bought this game you should... as soon as possible! From the moment you first look through the eyes of Joanna Dark and enter the Datadyne Corpiration to the final battle with the Skedar leader its a breathtaking adventure with beutiful 3D worlds, awesome graphics and unforgetable characters. The expansion Pak is needed for full quality gameplay, but even without it its an awesome game. A classic videogame thats worth buying, with tons of modes and neverending fun. Definately one of the greats. -Brian Chavanne

Most Anticipated Game of the Year

Perfect Dark 64 is put out by Rare, which also created Goldeneye. The controls are similar, and 8 guns make a comeback; they are even available in the solo missions if you unlock them. The only differences are: the graphics are outstanding (it's like watching a movie, and you can, too), the enemies can be up to 35 times smarter, the weapons all have two functions, and the multiplayer is out of this world. 8 computer controlled players (called simulants) can be added, and its devilishly fun. This game is a must for any N64 game library.

Why Can't Every Game Be Like This?

It seems that in Today's world of extensive graphics, nobody seems to care about gameplay as much. Perfect Dark was a GREAT game, with a great storyline and challenging missions. While lacking in graphics, EVERYTHING else made up for this, including the unique characters, interesting weapons (some with double features), and different, yet usable, storyline...this made for a PERFECT game.

Pros:
-Many missions, with challenging levels of play
-Great things to unlock
-Interesting new multiplayer (Counter-operative)
-Pretty good multiplayer levels
-Special missions as well (Which get better with difficulty settings)

Cons:
-Graphics are pretty low, other than than, the game is great!

If you've ever played Golden Eye 007 you'll find many similarities between the two games. They're both made by the same people. It's kinda like they took one good idea, made a few changes in names, characters, levels, gave it a different name and said, "Here's something new!" If you were a fan of Golden Eye you'll like that the controls in Perfect Dark are the same. There are a lot of the same guns but plenty of different ones. My favorite would be the orb gun that can see through walls and with good aiming skills can kill your enemy while they're all the way on the opposite side of the level from you trying to hide. I used this one a lot during multiplayer. Basically what it comes down to is if you've played Golden Eye, you'll probably like this. Almost everyone with a Nintendo 64 has played Golden Eye at some point. Most of the time get addicted to it. You might not get AS addicted to this one, but it'll keep you busy when you should be off doing something other than staring at a TV.

I have had this game for years, and have just finally beat it. Perfect Dark rocks! This is the best N64 game out there! The gameplay, weapons, and battles are all good! I'm waiting to get Perfect Dark Zero, but that will only be when someone sells an Xbox 360 for less than $500.

A Good Review for Browsers and Buyers... if you have the time

Ok, let me start with the fact that I'm not over rating the item like everyone elses review, like "ITS THE BEST GAME EVER!!" NO.
If you still have the N64, and you don't have this game, then I highly recommend you to get it. Right now it is'nt the ABSOLUTE best game, but it's up there. The Graphics at the time were decent, those of goldeneye(if you've seen it), and easy to live with. In the game the maps are somewhat blocky and choppy, and sometimes confusing, but after learning the map it becomes easier.
There are a variety of weapons, from machine guns to Heat seeking and guided missles. In the guns, each has a secondary mode (For insistance, a rocket launcher has fast and straight flighted rockets, or slow heat seeking ones.)This is a great addition and overall making the game more fun.
In campaign you work your way into harder and more sticky situations, like most games, making it easy to get into. But sometimes you'll come across confusing things and get lost because of the maps blocky or ugly design. Other then that the one player is good. Along with Campaign is co-op, making this game even more fun, since one person can do something, while the other person is doing another.
But the games Campaign isn't quite the best, and if I could I'd give it 3 1/2 stars, individually. But what really makes the game fun, what really compensates for the Campaign, is the multiplayer mayhem that you could have on a single TV. Along with the butt load of guns, and the distorted maps, there are even more gadgets, setting, and people then alot of games. In multiplayer, you can carry as many guns as possible, including other weapons such as knives, combat boosts(a drug to slow down time, aka bullet time),tranquilizers, a few different types of grenades, automated turrets, x-ray scanners(see through walls),3 different types of mines, and more. With as many weapons as there are in this game, the multiplayer becomes insane, making the game fun. You can edit the weapons set by choosing a Premade Set, i.e.Automatic or Explosive, or you can choosew custom and make it yourself. When your playing around with the menu you can customize your character, your name, and visual details such as highlighted objects and people. Though the menu is big, actually very big, it still can be used for maximum gameplay. If you are lazy then you could do a quickmatch, leading you into an almost instant game. But if you have time then make your own presets.
During multyplayer you can have 4 actual players and in addition you can also have 8 Simulants( Computer controled people.) Though having lots of people is fun, turning all player on makes the game laggy, just as a heads up.
Overall the game is extremely fun with 3 friends, and alright with just yourself. But if you are going to get this game, you're going to have to have alot of time on your hands to play this, because it's what you consider ADDICTING. It may get you down at one point of time because of the expansive menu or frustrating part, but as I said you gotta have alot of time on your hands and be patient. If your not then you might end up breaking the controller on the wall. Have Fun :)
(And as a side note, please buy an Expansion Pack for the N64. If you don't you'll only get about a third of the options that you would with one.)

Still Good

I have a rather large collection of N64 games, and still play them. This is one of those games that, even with the breadth of first person shooters available today, still stands out on it's own. Improving on the Golden Eye engine, you're given plenty of imaginative weapons to work with, from the Farsight gun that shoots through walls, to machine gun that allows you to cloak yourself, there's plenty of toys to go around.

The one player campaign is filled with replay value, especially with co-op and "counter-agent" options, allowing another player to either play a mission with or against you. Same format from Golden Eye exists here: easy, medium and hard difficulty levels with rewards for completing each.

The multiplayer does suffer a bit in terms of graphics, but the fact that you have so many options, from adding simulants, to changing the format of the game (team mode, death match, capture the flag, etc.), to customizing your level weapons, makes up for this.

Wisely, Rare placed some unlockable features from the Goldeneye games, including guns and multiplayer levels. Other secrets include hidden levels, cheats, etc.

In short, this has to be high on the "must" list for anyone who still plays N64 games.

For the sake of parents buying this for children, I will note there is some occasional cussing (guards sometimes yell "what the h***" when they see you), but this can be turned off on the options screen. Animated blood can also be turned off. By and large this is incredibly tame compared to what passes for "M" rated now, but it should be noted.
