Did you love Goldeneye? Of course you did. You'll love Perfect Dark too. Perfect Dark is like Goldeneye with aliens, or Duke Nukem with class. With mission paramaters ranging from classic shoot everyone, to escort/protect a flying laptop, to stealth and infiltration missions, this game has something for everyone. Multiplayer!!! It's great! Not only can you choose the map, now you can create custom weapon sets and mix-match character heads and bodies to your liking. No friends? Just turn on the simulants. Simulated opponents range from the aptly named MeatSims to the impossible to kill DarkSims.
Dark, yes. Perfect, no.

I was extremely disappointed with this title. You will like it if you like Goldeneye, but definitely go with Goldeneye over this game. The multiplayer is 50 times better than Goldeneye, but the cheats and single player levels leave EVERYTHING to be desired. For one thing, it requires more sneaking around because one missed shot hits the wall letting the guards know of your presence who will then hit you with perfect accuracy and kill you in a matter of seconds because of your quickly draining life meter. You also run out of bullets faster and reload much slower. The difficulty is just about near impossible. If you can't beat Goldeneye with EVERYTHING as in cheats, bonus levels, record times, etc, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. You can't beat this game on Perfect Agent unless you're a game tester, and I'm sure even they had problems. The game is so hard it just totally degrades from the fun factor. The plot is also absurd. Aliens and such. Ha Ha. Amusing. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! I strongly reccomend going for Goldeneye rather than Perfect Dark.

Rare deserves credit, after goldeneye the anticipation for Perfect Dark was so immense that it was bound to fail. Admittedly, disappointment is easy to come by when in comparision to Goldeneye.
This is unfair, Perfect Dark is an incredible game. Large levels, intense graphics, and a comprehensive multi player section make this game a success. Take this game for it is and you will be satisfied.

Soaring high above the reaches of Goldeneye, the N64 power game, Perfect Dark serves to be one of the games that actually have all that should be in a game. Starting with the graphics, which are great, even though I play on Lo-Res for speed. The graphics are quite impressive compared to Goldeneye, since Goldeneye really lacked variety in textures. However, PD really has many crisp textures in the this game. Sound and Music are an absoulte epic. They music is really thought out compared to the level and the sounds are very clear, even all the speech. The animations of the enemies are well thought out also, with people flying 8ft into the air when you shoot a rocket at their feet, or people slouching in a chair, when you shoot them dead. Since people really care about multi player I'll say it plain and simple, 10x better than Goldeneyes. It has everything you could ask for. With cutting edge AI, many levels for battle, and different modes of battle (such as capture the flag, pop a cap, dog tag, and so on) you'll be on the edge of your seat the whole time your playing it. If you don't already posses this game, you'll hurt when everyone else is having fun. BUY IT NOW!

Perfect Dark is made by same development team that brought us Goldeneye for the Nintendo64. It's features are amazing, over 40 all original weapons, massive multiplayer modes, and one of the most creative advertising stunts in gaming history.... For those who don't know, Datadyne Inc. is the bad-guys this time around. The features are masssive, you'll need the expansion pak to play the full game, don't worry you can still play it without, but only 33% of the game. The only downside I see to this game is the frame-rate slows almost to a halt when playing four players with computer stimulants.
A masterpiece in history of video gaming

My god, I swear, looking at the good reviews you'd think this is a cool serious game like Golden Eye. It all goes well till you meet an Alien named Elvis, which yes, totaly took all seriousness out. Typical bad guy movements from Golden Eye. Also you HAVE to buy the expasion pack to play solo missions, which is totaly stupid, for the fact that the graphics are no differnt than Golden Eye its self. Im still really disturbed over the fact that its rated M, but has childish parts in it only little kids would laugh at.

Perfect Dark is in many ways a game that surpasses its comparative counterpart Goldeneye and likewise falls inevitably short of it in other ways. Mechanically, PD dominates Goldeneye. Enourmous and grandoise environments, beautiful architecture, real-time lighting, life-like AI, and sleek and stylish menus are some of PD's selling points. At the same time, however, the game suffers with framerate problems. Just try walking through an inescapable cloud of debris after a rocket explosion during a mission critical portion of the game to see how severe it gets. But the true test of a game, or any product of entertainment for that matter, is not in its specs, but in how the product 'feels;' those intangible characteristics associated with the product. Unfortunately, with PD, the game feels overly sterile and plastic wrapped. With Goldeneye, there was nostalgia, there was the ability to relive the cold-war type atmosphere. It was, familiar, homely, and personal. As well, it was international. . .there was Cuba, Russia, England, to name a few nations. As well, with Goldeneye, there was a true feeling of espionnage. There definitely was a 'mood' to the game. With PD, there is none of this. You know why. . .because it is all too fake. A storyline about intergalactic tumult is fair game, but when the only area of concern on earth is the USA, it seems pretty weak, and predictable. The US, again, saves all. Spare me the inflated sense of power. As well, one of the aliens from another planet, named ELVIS? , wearing a body suit with the american flag printed on it, and a whiny, annoying voice, makes the game painfully intolerable. The game just doesn't have any abiance, any mood, and doesn't allow one to become familiar with it. Way too polished and commercial. As for the multiplayer mode. . .incredible! Keeps me coming back and begging, 'please sir, I want some more!' To find out more about the good stuff in the game, which there are, read the other reviews. I just had to write a review about the intangibles of the game, seeing that they are weak and lacking.
