Best Game EVER

This game is my favorite FPS period. I own Halo (for the xbox) but I do not play it because why waste my time with anything besides Perfect Dark. Perfect Dark takes the Goldeneye style gameplay to its extreme. Every weapon (including your fists) has a second function: this alone puts Dark in a league of its own. For example, one of the most inventive second functions can be found on the "Slayer" which is a rocket launcher developed by the race of aliens known as Skedar. A player can fire the "Slayer" as a normal rocket launcher, or he can use the weapon's second function called "Fly-by-wire" in which, once the player shoots, his view changes to that of the rocket and he can guide the rocket to its target (once in flight the player has complete control over the rocket including the ability to slow it down and detonate it on command-- of course the rocket will also detonate on impact if the pilot prefers). With "Fly-by-wire" you maneuver the missile in all three dimensions (fly it up, down, left, right, or upside down if you prefer). What a great weapon!
KEEP IN MIND THIS IS ONLY ONE OF MANY!
EVERY WEAPON HAS 2 FUNCTIONS!
Also, this game introduces the revolutionary concept of computer simulants in multiplayer mode. This means that you don't need another human with you to play multiplayer, just designate simulants (you can pick from a wide range of difficulty levels and also give any number of the simulants you choose a special trait or skill, i.e. a "Speed Sim" runs extraordinarily fast, a "Kaze Sim" will always try to run right up to you to attack, and a "Peace Sim" will do nothing but disarm all opponents he encounters and will stockpile their weapons... THESE ARE JUST A FEW OF THE MANY AVAILABLE SIMULANT MODS). So play alone against simulants, or use them to spice up a battle between you and your friends. You can set up the teams any way you wish (give yourself simulant allies, create as many teams as you want with however many simulants and humans on each as you want, or just try a classic free-for-all... It's all customizable, BE CREATIVE).
Other unique features include:
-Cooperative and Counteroperative modes for story mode so you and your friend can either assist one another or compete.
-A wide variety of multiplayer arenas to choose from.
-You can design your own character right down to the face.
-The most customizable FPS of all time (if you don't believe me, try it and see! Before you know it, you will have your favorite multiplayer scenario planned out to the smallest detail and saved to the game cartridge).

ONLY DOWNSIDE:
The only real problem with the game is that it starts to noticeably lag if you are playing with more than 2 players. Besides that Perfect Dark is, dare I say, perfect.

OTHER INFO:
Perfect Dark for N64 requires an N64 memory expansion to play. There is also a version of Perfect Dark for the Gameboy Color (can also be played by the Gameboy Advance and Advance SP). With an N64 gameboy adapter, the two games can work together.

I LOVE THIS GAME AND IF YOU ARE AN FPS FAN, SO WILL YOU!
Good luck and happy Skedar hunting!

The name of the game says it all.

Like the name, this game is perfect. It features a massive one player mode with a plot to rival a final fantasy game, a huge multiplayer mode where you can team up with AI controlled bots and living friends, graphics to die for, and sound that beats Saving Private Ryan. A feature I'm particularly interested in is building a fortress in multiplayer mode. Imagine setting up robot machine guns in strategic locations around your base and defending it with your taskforce! Fun for the whole family, no doubt. Rare has really outdone themselves this time. And with Parfect Dark, Dinosaur Planet, and Banjo-Tooie all being released in the same year (I hope) we are all in for alot of good times.

The best first Person Shooter since Goldeneye!

Perfect Dark was made by the people who brought us Goldeneye and they were trying to beat themselves and they certainly did. It is better then I thought it would be and I was expecting A LOT. I reccomend this to anyone who liked Goldeneye. Once again, this game has really good replay value, as it has over seventeen chalenging missions to complete on three difficulty levels. The stages are well designed and have plenty of good objectives to keep you busy for hours. It has a good, deep, involving plot which evolves through the game, just like a good movie. But to get the full story and understanding, you have to beat it on Perfect Agent. Once again, Rare brings us an outstanding multiplayer function and it is better than Goldeneye's. You can choose your weapons, your teams, a number of cool scenarios such as 'capture the case, King of the Hill, and Hacker Central.'There are a lot of 'challenges' which you have to complete to open up weapons, ect. Also, there are many neat and different levels you can play. But this is the real beauty of the multiplayer: you can put up to eight simulants- computer characters to fight with you. You can also play the solo missions on Co-operative or Counter- Operative with a friend. This is not a game for young kids, as there is strong profanity such as 's' words and 'b' words. There are large amounts of violence, realistic killings and lots of animated blood.

Perfect...Simply Perfect

With the myriad of games fouling today's N64 market, it is agenuine treat to have such a masterpeice finally available. WhereGoldenEye has left off, Perfect Dark has stepped in. Though several backlogging delays have moved the release date of PD to May 23, we can be assured that this game will truly be engineered to perfection. Dolby digital surround sound, groundbreaking graphics, realistic physics, blood effects, an M rating, 40 weapons each with a dual fire mode, a killer multiplayer format (including the Aztec and Complex levels from GE), a great story, 60 minutes of cinematic scenes, and an enhanced/ultra-hard difficulty mode will make this game the most important thing in my life! ;) I'm quitting my job today!

I never thought that anyone could fit this much of a game into a measly 64 cartridge. The sheer amount of options and things is just incredible. I just spent an entire day doing the multiplayer challenges with my buddies and that was all just the ONE mode. This is undoubtedly Rare's best work and I applaude. By the way. I am normally a PS freak that would rather stick a flaming sword down his throat than say that a 64 game is good....but just look how excited I am! Oh but having to have an expansion pack to play probobly could be frustrating (if you are really stupid and don't have one anyway)

Perfect Dark virtually Perfect

Perfect Dark is one of the best games to hit the gaming market. The action is absolute non-stop, and the replay value is overwhelming. With 21 missions, including 4 special assignments, Perfect Dark is a game that offers complete enjoyment.

The story line is that a major company called Datadyne is involved in a conspiracy with an evil alien race in order to better themselves with alien technology. In return, Datadyne has offered to help this alien race to recover a vastly powerful weapon that lies under the ocean. Joanna Dark, a new agent from the Carrington Institute who's also the person you play as for most of the game, is sent to investegate and stop Datadyne through infiltrations, spying on meetings, rescue missions, and numerous other tasks.

There are 44 weapons you can use in Perfect Dark, each with a secondary function, and each different depending on the gun (an example would be the Dragon. If you run out of ammo, you can throw it as a proximity mine as a last resort). The guns' reloads are done beautifully, and very realistic. Again, how each gun is reloaded when you run out of a clip differs from gun to gun. Weapons range from the RC-P120, which is a gun that has a clip of 120 bullets and the ability to make you invisible as long as your ammo holds out, to alien weapons like the Farsight, which is a weapon that allows you to see and shoot through walls, killing your enemies in a single hit.

Perfect Dark's multiplayer shines brighter than any other game I've seen. The options are endless. You're able to play scenarios like capture the case (which is the same as capture the flag), King of the Hill, and numerous other set ups along with regular 'ol battle, which is everyone for himself. You can choose your own character (or combination of a character) and save your battle stats too (Saving things from how far you've walked, your accuracy, to how many games you've won and lost, how many kills/deaths you have, and beyond). You're also able to turn on 8 simulants (computer players) at a time with the options of making them extremely easy to kill all the way to the difficulty point to make any video gamer run in fear. You can also have teams. You can have up to 4 people playing at a time and arrange the teams any way you want and include simulants into other teams or even your own team. You can also give orders to the simulants if you decide to put some on your team. You can have them follow and protect you, tell them to go attack a specific person, defend a certain area, and beyond.

Today I got Perfect Dark, I thought this game would be a good game but not better than Goldeneye. It is. I have played almost every first-person shooter ever. This is hands down the best. If you buy the game, buy a expansion pak also because you can only play roughly 1/3 of the game without one. The first thing I thought when I heard the weapons were going to be spaceage was "Another game with those dumb blow-every-thing-up- in-one-shot guns". Yet again PD suprised me. The guns are awesome, Especially the complex reloading secquines,Watch the the dy357 magnum (it is a revolver)reload......awesome. I hope that you enjoy the game as much as I do. P.S. GOLDENEYE STILL ROCKS!

Almost as good as Goldeneye

Well kids, it looks like the hype was true. Perfect Dark is finally here and it was worth the wait. You all know about the excellent single-player mode which is light-years better than Bond, but I'd like to focus on where it falls short of its predecessor: multiplayer. While the simulants add a whole new dimension to multiplayer, the match-ups just aren't as intense as in Goldeneye, mainly because it's too easy to die. In PD, you can sneak up on somebody from behind and kill with five shots, whereas in Goldeneye, the person would have at least had a chance to flea, or turn around and in engage in a little strafing fire-fight. Despite this, its still a great game and a must-own.

The perfect game.

"Perfect Dark" is the best game ever. It's so life-like your hairs will stand on end. The graphics are astounding. The sound quality is top-notch. Any kid who likes action will love this game. The in depth story-line is twice as good as Goldeneye's. In fact if you fell in love with Goldeneye you'll drool for this. If there are any parents who feel threatned by the Mature rating, don't be. This game is apprpiate for any one over 13. I think 17+ is ridiculus. Well don't take my word for it, go and rent it. Then you'll see this is a great game. A must buy for any one who owns Nintendo 64.

Instead of blabbing on about how much I love this game I'm going to list the awesome features of this game.

~Weaponry~ There are 45 new weapons, and even (when completing all the weapons training with gold medals on each weapon) some of the old Geoldeneye weapons (cool huh?) ~Here's a list of the pistols available in the game~ Falcon2: Similiar to the trusty Walther PPK (the PP7) from Goldeneye, this is your average weapon, avaliable on almost every single level. It's accurate (it has a laser sight for even more accuracy), it's got a quick reload (about 1.8 seconds), an eight round clip, and quick fire. (Although I don't get why for stealthy missions they give you a shiny gun)

Falcon2 (silenced): (See above) same as the Falcon2 but with a silencer for even more stealth.

Falcon2 (scope): (See Falcon2) same as the Falcon2 listed above, but with a scope to hit distant targets, great for a distant kill with the power of the Falcon2 pistol.

MagSec4: The MagSec4 is not a grand weapon and is only available once on Single Player but it's certainly not a bad gun and is terribly deadly when paired. It's not extremely accurate, but it fires fast and loads quick, just like the Falcon2.

Mauler: The Mauler is one of (maybe the best) pistol(s) in the game. It not only has a huge clip (20 rounds!), but it also fires quick and loads almost as fast. It's secondary mode (yes! guns have secondary modes just hold B!) is a charged up shot. You just let the ammo go down by 5 (from 20 to 15 for example) then fire, your opponent will be killed in one shot! Very convenient!

Phoenix: This is a Maian (the 'grey' alien race) pistol, that fires out quick laser-like shots, and it's secondary mode (great from a distance) fires out large fiery shells, that do great damage to an opponent.

DY357 Magnum: Similar to the old Cougar Magnum from Goldeneye, but much better. It has great range and absolutely no scatter damage! It can even shoot through doors. A great all-around weapon.

DY357 LX Magnum: This gun is not available in Single Player, but it is the weapon of choice of the fictional NRA head Trent Easton. Very similar to the DY537 standard issue magnum in looks but it can kill in only one shot.

Those were some examples of the weaponry, now on to the Multiplayer!

~Multiplayer~ There are 30 new Multiplayer challenges! Plus the addition of simulants (computer controlled enemies) and 16 new Multiplayer levels! Along with six Multiplayer settings.

Challenges: These are mulitplayer challenges that can be played with one or four players, and has rules for each match, which when completed may unlock a new setting, or weapon, or level which is then available in Multiplayer!

Levels: 13 totally new and original multiplayer levels, along with three modified levels from Goldeneye which are now as fun as ever: Facility (now dubbed 'Felicity' for copyright reasons), Complex, and Temple (which now actually looks like a Temple). Not all of the new levels are great, but some are better for different settings then others, although some of them are pretty bad, the majority are good though.

Characters: Tons of characters are now available (although the face mapping feature was taken our probably because of the Columbine shooting) which can be gained by defeating a Multiplayer challenge. You can also switch heads and put them on different bodies!

Simulants: There are now simulants you can fight in Multiplayer, on different settings: Meat Sim (self explanatory), Easy Sim(comparable to an amateur), Normal Sim (combarable to an average human player), Hard Sim (comparable to a very good human player), Perfect Sim (self explanatory), Dark Sim (Created by the fictitious Data Dyne corporation this Sim is almost impossible to defeat!). The Sims can also be set to 13 different characteristics!

~Single player~

The game is now seperated into 9 missions with seventeen levels plus three extra levels (available when defeating the game on different settings) and one bizarre shooting level called "The Duel"

The levels are split very well, and some can be more fun then others. Some will seem like a tedious chore when playing although the majority of others are a blast!

More Multiplayer! You can also play the game (single player missions) against a friend! Yes, it's true. You're friend plays as an enemy, and when killed re-spawns as another enemy opponent, until the level is completed or until Joanna Dark is dead.

The game can also be played with a computerized ally, your first choice is Velvet Dark (Joanna's sister) but more are available when the game is defeated on a different setting.

Another cool option is how you can walk around your headquarters, the Carrington institute. Here, you can talk to your boss, Daniel Carrington (although not much!) and you can learn how to fist fight, be more accurate with each weapon, learn about other characters and ships, and learn how to use cool gadgets like the CamSpy (a hovering little camera, that is controlled by you by just moving it around with the joy stick).

Some good features: The game is clearly aimed for a mature audience, although it has both a paintball mode to filter out the blood, and a language filter, to keep out all that bloody swearing.

My only grudge with the games are the casts 'American' accents. Although the voice-over cast tried to put on their best American Voices, you can still hear hints of British accents in there, but who really cares?

P.S. Be aware of the dreaded voice of the head hacker in hacker central, and listen to how the President pronounces 'assume.'
