Even Better Than Before!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 30 / 39

If you even began to think that the original Splinter Cell was good you will cry with joy when you play Splinter Cell: Pandorra Tommorrow. There are multiple ways of completing each and every level. Instead of using shadows for cover it is more based on using camoflauge, much more believable. The camera work which I would have given an A+ to in the first Splinter Cell, is even more improved. The sillouettes which Playstation missed out on in the first Splinter Cell have been completely reborn, it is a beautiful thing. Civilians are almost everywhere and you can interact with them, because you are in more public places this is good. The first one which used a few gadgets, whew! The gadgets are much cooler My new dream job is to be a Splinter Cell, If you play this game you'll ask for an SC20K, a pistol, and some lock picks for Christmas, I can just picture you wearing those tights.
You WILL LOVE it, trust me!

Sam Fisher is back with one of the best game for xbox 2004. Pandora Tommorrow features even better graphic than the original Spinter Cell. New missions, New moves and the support from Xbox live... What more can I say?

Best first person shooter yet

Splinter cell Pandora tomorrow incorporates all the pluses of the original and all the best parts of it are even better. You can do all the moves of the original, plus a few more. The graphics are even better than the first and there are several outdoor missions in which the sun either sets or rises gradually, changing the shadows in which you can hide. Speaking of hiding, there is now an on screen gauge that tells how visible you are to enemy mercenaries.

There is now a unique multi-player that allows you and three others to play each other, X-box and PS2 have it, but I'm not sure about Gamecube. You can play 1 on 3 or 2 on 2; one side are the spies and the other are the mercenaries. Each are evenly matched, but each have different advantages. The spies can see from a third person view allowing them to be more aware of their surroundings while the mercenaries have a first person view allowing them to shoot more accurately, but they can't see behind or to the side of themselves. Each side has their own gadgets and each have their own weapons as well their own objectives, the spies have to complete an objective and the mercenaries have to stop them. The mercenaries have auto-matic weapons that can easily kill a spy but all the spies have are one shot pistols that can only stun an enemy, thus the only way a spy can kill a mercenary is either by jumping on him or breaking his neck. The mercenaries have the advantage in open combat, but their poor vision means that a spy can gain the upper hand with stealth, at least until they're discovered. This means that both sides need different strategies to win.

Lets face it the first Splinter cell was a third person romp that proved to be the best stealth game in its genre. When i got the first game i played it non stop and before long it was over. For some reason i've never went back to it. It hasn't drawn me in again like it did the first time. When i heard about SC:PT i had mixed views - expecting without doubt a MGS type sequel, (very dissapointing in other words), although the more i found out about it the more i was impressed. Firstly theres the new abilities such as moving side to side while doing the splits - and jumping(higher) from the splits position. This was one of the coolest things about the first game but did'nt really have very much potential as the levels were not constructed with this in mind. However in PT the levels are a lot more diverse, meaning you may be able to use this to get to a higher vantage point over the enemy such as a ledge (about two stories high), giving you a more non-linear path. Another cool move is hanging from pipes. You can do this in the original splinter cell. But now you can let go with your hands and be hanging upside down meaning you can target enemies better. The new weapons include booby traps such as trip wires which you can employ to lose that annoying guard! Theres also motion sensors and a few new grenades. While the singleplayer will be great, there will also be multiplayer which will be an extra appeal for anyone not wanting to spend their hard earned cash. In MP you can control either the spies or the guards, there are three types of game mode - For the spies it usually involves retrieving or destroying certain objects and obviously the guards job is to stop them. Basically the spies are the same Sam Fisher you play in the game, whereas the guards are all-new playable characters (in MP only)in the game and use a first person view. Spies can have (like Sam) night and thermal vision - whereas the guards have electronic tracking vision (meaning they can track electronic devices - used by spies) and motion tracking vision - meaning they can track any movement in air turbulence - you have to see it to believe it, The Movement tracking vision uses a red screen - similar to the (bad) Thermal vision in MGS. Suddenly a small square can be seen on the screen focusing onto an object (ala Terminator). Inside the square theres the normal colour. The squares getting bigger and bigger and then the figure takes shape and you realise its a spy darting towards you at speed of light. Its all so smooth and extremly satisfying to watch. The Multiplayer aspect should be enough to keep Live players up until the early hours and warrant buying the Xbox version as the Ps2 version isn't due to July and will look like a Nes compared to the Xbox lighting and effects - as well as draw distance - anyhow, if you like the first game and crave somemore, or are looking for a stealth/action game - keep your eyes peeled for this. This is the definitive stealth game for any system and no xbox owner can go without it.

Great Game

This game is a LOT of fun. If you like stealth oriented games then this is definitely a must buy. The single player mode is very similar to the previous splinter cell. It has the same great graphics and story line of the previous title. The lighting effects are just as amazing if not better. But the real draw for this title is the multiplayer. When you first start playing it gets really frustrating. The maps are huge and because they are so big it takes a while to learn them. I'm sure you already know how multiplayer works so I'll just give you a real quick summary. There are two teams. One is the spies and the other the mercs. Spies operate very similar to sam fisher in the single player game. Mercs play very similar to rainbow six 3. Spies have a third person view. Mercs have a first person view. The goal of the spies is always to steal something and the mercs always want to kill the spies. I've played quite a few rounds on xbox live and I have yet to play a round where the spies won. I'm sure this will change soon but the game is hard. Like I said before every level is huge and there are cameras, motion sensors, and trip lasers scattered throughout each level. If you're a first time spy and try to steal a canister then you'll probably die quite a few times. As soon as you trip an alarm the mercs are notified and the location of the alarm shows up on their radar. This means that most likely you have two heavily armed guards coming to your location in seconds. Also in some cases if the alarm is triggered some of the doors close around you and your means of escape are limited. This results in death after death. Like I said before if you've never played a level then how can you know where every single alarm is or which doors are going to close if you set it off. Its much simpler for the mercs. You just run around and look for spies and because you know where the three or four locations of canisters are located you know exactly where the spies will be heading. I have a feeling that the game will change quite a bit after some of the players get more experienced in this game because once you know where all the alarms are then you can sneak in and grab the canister without the guards ever getting wise. This will change the game and make it great because at that point the only changes made to the levels will be by the mercs(mercs have mines they can place throughout the level). So even if a spy has memorized every alarm they'll still have to be on their toes because a guard could place a mine or sensor anywhere. Also it becomes difficult to get past alarms that you know are there if you have a random visit by a merc that is searching for you. Overall this game is great and although it can be frustrating being a spy I'm sure that after you learn the level you'll have a great time sneaking around and playing against mercs that are real human players. It just makes the experience so much better.

Whoa.

I loved the first game, and have played through it several times. I can't believe it, but SC:PT is actually better, and much harder. I'm still playing through the single player version, and it's very challenging. I haven't even played the multiplayer game yet, but seeing what I've seen in the single player version, I cannot wait to try it!

More of a Great Thing, With Some Bugs

If you've ever played the origional Splinter Cell then you'll be very familiar with the sequel. The controls are pretty much the same and the graphics are just as good as in the first. One improvement is that many of the missions feature much more action outdoors. Another would be the addition of several new moves for Sam Fisher.

Really I can find no complaints with the single player portion of the game. Great graphics, good sound and very challenging gameplay make this game well worth purchasing just to play the single player missions. If you enjoyed the first version, you'll enjoy this as well. Although the difficulty level is a bit higher.

My main complaint is with the X-Box Live portion. This was to be the most innovative multiplayer game for X-Box ever. While the X-Box Live game is incredible, it's ruined by a bug in the software that shipped with the game. This bug causes the X-Box to freeze on the Optimatch Menu after approximately 15 seconds. The only way past this is to quickly choose which game you would like to join, well before you've been able to see important things like connection speed. I was concerned that it was just me having this problem, but then read reviews on Gamespot and a couple other sites that confirmed this problem.

Overall, purchasing this game just for the single player missions is well worth the money. But if you're looking forward to the Live games (which are wonderful) then be aware of the bug problems. Hopefully this is something that can be rectified in the future.

Great online gameplay

I'll skip the review of the single player mode - except to say it's solid, and at least as good as the first splinter cell.

The online multiplayer divides players up on two teams: spies and mercenaries. Spies play in a third-person mode and have to neutralize virus canisters throughout the map. Mercenaries play in first person shooter mode, and have to defend the canisters. Each side has a variety of different weapons and gadgets. For example: spies have flash grenades to blind mercenaries; mercenaries have mines to lay for spies. Each team has different vision modes: spies have the thermal and night vision; mercenaries have motion tracker and electromagnetic vision (the later lets mercenaries pick up spies using gadgets).

Online play is a lot of fun. It's probably the most innovative online game on x-box so far. The only downside is that only 4 people can play on a map at any one time, which can be difficult for mercenaries on large maps.

If you have broadband and x-box live, this is going to be one of the hottest online games of the year. Thumbs up.
