This was fun, but the first was better.

I thought this game was great, but I enjoyed the first one more. Instead of trying to find where you should go and what you should do when you get there, they have idiot proofed this one. I enjoyed the trial and error in the first one. There was much more thinking in how you should do things, a lot more brain stimulation. The second one when you walked up to a door it gave you options on what to do so there was no question if you should go that way or not. It took me a bit to beat the first game, but this one I think I beat in the first two days which makes me wish I rented it instead of bought it.

Extremely fun game

Tom Clancey's Splinter Cell, Pandora Tomorrow is probobly one of the best games that i have ever played besides, Chaos Theory and Halo 2. The graphics are great, the gameplay is awesome and best of all, it is online! Plus there is downloadable content.

PRO:
1.Graphics are superb
2.Gameplay is awesome and fun.
3.So much that you can do...
4.Online
5.Downloadable content
6.Huge replay value

CON:
1.Single player can be extremely challenging and frustrating at times.
2. Controls are difficult to master.

Besides the two cons that i just listed, this game is definetely worth your money!

Fun, mediocre, but mostly frustrating

I am a fan of the Tom Clancy Spliner Cell series since I bought the first one a while back. When I played the first one, I played somthing I had never experienced before, but i also encountered flaws that I would have hoped to be improved in Pandora Tomorrow.
But before I played Pandora Tommorrow, the second game in the stealth action series, I played the latest installment, Chaos Theory. The game showed supurb improvements in all areas of the first game, and and in Pandora Tomorrow. The main weakness I found in Pandora Tomorrow was the frusteration level. In almost every stage of the game, I found myself retrying the level repetitive times to try not to sound the alarm when I'm sneaking past a guard, or abruptly getting caught and having to restart right when I'm close to the checkpoint because a body was found that I had tried to hide earlier in the game. The main idea of the game is that you are a Third Echelon government spy who is supposed to inflitrate dangerous locations across the globe, get vital information for the good of the world, and sneak out right under the noses of notorious terrorists. To do this, you have to be a "shadow", which means you have to be invisible. In the begining, they teach you how to hide in dark corners, take cover from the enemy, etc., but I still found my self getting caught. For example, while quietly stalking the dark alleys of Jerusalem,
a guard nearby happens to hear my footsteps, and begins to investigate the area. No big deal, I tell myself, and I quickly find a dark corner and put my back against the wall so I could be less visible. But as the investigating guard walks buy me "hidden
in the shadows", he always seems to realize that I'm there, so he sounds the alarm, and the missions over. Boom! It happens again in the same situations throughout the game. Sooner or later, you'll get past the guard, but the same, almost impossible challenge awaits you in the next level, and the next level until you have beaten the game. The game has some upsides though. The levels are well detailed, such as the one in Jerusalem and LAX airport in Los Angeles. Also the addition of Xbox Live's Spies Vs. Mercenaries will entertain you for a long time. If you're a person who likes to take up challenges, doesn't get frustrated easily, and doesn't really care about the latest installment, Chaos Theory, there is somthing for you in this game. If you are not this kind of person, and want more action and an overall better stealth action game, I would definitely recommend my favorite game, Chaos Theory, which will leave you playing for a long time.

Great Game

This game is a LOT of fun. If you like stealth oriented games then this is definitely a must buy. The single player mode is very similar to the previous splinter cell. It has the same great graphics and story line of the previous title. The lighting effects are just as amazing if not better. But the real draw for this title is the multiplayer. When you first start playing it gets really frustrating. The maps are huge and because they are so big it takes a while to learn them. I'm sure you already know how multiplayer works so I'll just give you a real quick summary. There are two teams. One is the spies and the other the mercs. Spies operate very similar to sam fisher in the single player game. Mercs play very similar to rainbow six 3. Spies have a third person view. Mercs have a first person view. The goal of the spies is always to steal something and the mercs always want to kill the spies. I've played quite a few rounds on xbox live and I have yet to play a round where the spies won. I'm sure this will change soon but the game is hard. Like I said before every level is huge and there are cameras, motion sensors, and trip lasers scattered throughout each level. If you're a first time spy and try to steal a canister then you'll probably die quite a few times. As soon as you trip an alarm the mercs are notified and the location of the alarm shows up on their radar. This means that most likely you have two heavily armed guards coming to your location in seconds. Also in some cases if the alarm is triggered some of the doors close around you and your means of escape are limited. This results in death after death. Like I said before if you've never played a level then how can you know where every single alarm is or which doors are going to close if you set it off. Its much simpler for the mercs. You just run around and look for spies and because you know where the three or four locations of canisters are located you know exactly where the spies will be heading. I have a feeling that the game will change quite a bit after some of the players get more experienced in this game because once you know where all the alarms are then you can sneak in and grab the canister without the guards ever getting wise. This will change the game and make it great because at that point the only changes made to the levels will be by the mercs(mercs have mines they can place throughout the level). So even if a spy has memorized every alarm they'll still have to be on their toes because a guard could place a mine or sensor anywhere. Also it becomes difficult to get past alarms that you know are there if you have a random visit by a merc that is searching for you. Overall this game is great and although it can be frustrating being a spy I'm sure that after you learn the level you'll have a great time sneaking around and playing against mercs that are real human players. It just makes the experience so much better.

For those of you who have HDTV and component VIDEO adapter (HDTV adapter). Buy THIS. This game has jaw dropping graphics, but when you watch them in HD, you will be amazed by the level of detail on the screen and the quality of sound. Forget about renting it from blockbuster, just buy it! The gameplay is awesome but the graphics are even better. If you though the first Splinter Cell was good, wait till you play this....
I will not be surprise if this game makes "GAME OF THE YEAR". (I guess we will have to wait HALO 2 comes out this fall ;)
NOTE: HDTV Advanced adapter is a must have for all HDTV owners

More of a Great Thing, With Some Bugs

If you've ever played the origional Splinter Cell then you'll be very familiar with the sequel. The controls are pretty much the same and the graphics are just as good as in the first. One improvement is that many of the missions feature much more action outdoors. Another would be the addition of several new moves for Sam Fisher.

Really I can find no complaints with the single player portion of the game. Great graphics, good sound and very challenging gameplay make this game well worth purchasing just to play the single player missions. If you enjoyed the first version, you'll enjoy this as well. Although the difficulty level is a bit higher.

My main complaint is with the X-Box Live portion. This was to be the most innovative multiplayer game for X-Box ever. While the X-Box Live game is incredible, it's ruined by a bug in the software that shipped with the game. This bug causes the X-Box to freeze on the Optimatch Menu after approximately 15 seconds. The only way past this is to quickly choose which game you would like to join, well before you've been able to see important things like connection speed. I was concerned that it was just me having this problem, but then read reviews on Gamespot and a couple other sites that confirmed this problem.

Overall, purchasing this game just for the single player missions is well worth the money. But if you're looking forward to the Live games (which are wonderful) then be aware of the bug problems. Hopefully this is something that can be rectified in the future.

Great single AND multiplay. A rarity!

I had a love/hate relationship with the first Splinter Cell. It was so infuriatingly hard at times that I actually put it down for a month before finally sitting down and beating it. It was brilliant, but a bit flawed. Pandora tomorrow addresses the majority of the gripes about the first, and adds a superb multiplayer that is sure to keep servers busy for months.

GRAPHICS: A. Superb. The first one set the gold standard for console graphics, and this game does it again, although the improvement is less dramatic. Stunning lighting effects and terrific animations make this an addictive simulation.

SOUND/MUSIC: A-. Very good, my only gripe is that they recycled a lot of the sounds from the first game (Sam's moan when he heals himself, the annoying alarm sound).

CONTROLS: A. If only every 3rd person game could control as well as this one. The analog control makes skulking around in the shadows as easy as running full speed, and minute movements are faithfully reproduced. Even climbing has been improved, although you still have to be positioned in front of a ladder, pipe, etc.

GAMEPLAY: A/A-. Terrific, gripping and realistic action. The settings are dramatic and very varied, and the challenges you face are both fun and clever. The only downside is that the game is still too linear, in that you can't just rapel down any wall, you must follow the more or less "on rails" path that the level designers have laid out for you. There is more freedom than in the first game, but you're never really at a loss for where to go next. Allowing individual creativity in approaching certain situations (infiltration missions, for example) would make this the perfect game. The enemy intelligence is also a weak point, in that it's sometimes superhuman and can spot you in the dark, while at other times it will be dumber than a post.

ONLINE: A. Great fun, but only if you like online. The cooperative mode is challenging and riveting, but like any multiplay over the internet, you will run into some jerks, prima donnas (and also great people). Some people prefer this mode over the single play, some dislike it.

Better than the first!
