Create Some Dust Of Your Own

It's been a while since I've played a game where I am physically swaying into the turns as they're made and utilizing my mental ability and reaction time to the various challenges offered with RalliSport Challenge.

This game is by far the best racing game for the X-Box. What Project Gotham Racing started, RalliSport Challenge is continuing, but on a more stylish and challenging level. This isn't to say PGR is a bad game because it's not; however, RSC will blow you away from the get-go.

As with many of today's games, you're given a few cars and tracks to prove yourself on before unlocking the remaining items. As you place high or gain enough points throughout competition, you are rewarded with new and challenging courses and a vast selection of cars.

An interesting item to point out with this game is that before each race, you're given important information that you'll need to keep in mind before you begin. The weather, temperature, track conditions, type of surface, etc. are all listed while various still segments of the track are shown. This is good information to take in while the track itself is loading. I find it very clever of Microsoft to do this because it eliminates the criticism from people who complain about the extended loading times of some games (Halo for example). One final note is that you're given the tyre (tire) option also that gives you the option of what type of racing tires you'd like to use for each individual race.

The graphics are mind blowing. The course designs are layed out beautifully from the sun reflecting off the mud and ice to the tarmac accepting your skids as you turn into the sharp right and left bends. Your car takes damage and even visually shows it while you're racing. Finally, the sound effects are all there from each car's individual motor noise to the destruction of your windows as you drive over shrubbery that bends or even into the different advertisement signs throughout the course. Don't forget to avoid the animals that run across your path too.

The passenger riding with you will not get on your nerves as he points out the various twists, turns and obstacles forthcoming. He ends up becoming a very important factor in your final standings. Take my advice, listen to him.

If you have a Dolby Digital 5.1 connection, enjoy it and by all means turn it up. My receiver identifies all of the sounds and distributes them throughout all of the channels causing me to look behind me at times for the debris I just left behind. In addition to the game sounds themselves, you're given a Music Manager feature that enables you to burn your favorite racing or rock and roll music to the X-Box hard drive and create your own CD Soundtrack to enjoy while competing. (All they are is Dust In The Wind!!!)

Race alone or against computer cars. Also race against four of your friends on split screen competition. (Suggestion: Be sure you have enough TV to race with four people because a 13" TV will not suffice with four people racing simultaneously.)

Go out and invest in this game, you will not be disappointed.

I've been looking for a top notch car game for Xbox. I held off on GPR as it just didn't seem to have what I was looking for. I settled on Rallisport and don't regret it one bit. The graphics are great and the gameplay is a lot of fun. It took me a little while to get use to the steering but I think I'm finally getting it down. On the graphics, what more can you say...it's fantastic.

If you are looking for a fun race car game with great graphics, take a look at this one.

Truly an exceptional Xbox title...

I am not usually a fan of racing games; however, this game has some of the best graphics available on a console system, the best gameplay, and the perfect mix of simulation with a touch of arcade enjoyment (a VERY small touch, just enough), all neatly dovetailed into what I would consider a nearly perfect game. You will not regret getting this game. My wife even likes playing it and she hates my XBox ;)...

Everything in this game is fun. The snow, ice, mud, dirt. I've had it about a month and still play it several times a week.

Menu / Game Load system is fantastic. Nice and quick.

If I had to criticize it a little, I would say the steering needs some work (feels like all or nothing)and it could use a few more cars.

Fun game though. You won't be disappointed.

I dunno much about sims. Personally, I hate games where you have to accumulate money to make your car better, and then by the time you have done that the game is boring.

This game is not like that. From the intro screen, this game simply WANTS you to have fun. Do you want to go head-to-head against a bunch of other computer players or friends? Do you want to do time trials? Do you want to drive the entire course backwards? Do you want to throw your car off cliffs? Do you want to teach yourself how to use a handbrake to peel around turns?

This game has all of the above, and more. A bunch of different tracks, a bunch of different cars (pick your favorite! - mine is the Suzuki Grand Vitara) and all different types of races.

Customize the music, so the game feels even cooler. Challenge your friends by going to the Rallicross lap tracks and setting the number of laps to 1, so the first person to make a mistake loses! Learn the best ways to hit another car to HELP you go around a turn but knock the other guy off the track.

Customizable stuff is there, and it really makes a difference, but with all the other variety and fun in this game, it's not really necessary.

I don't care if you buy this game or not. But I love playin it. I honestly think it is worth the price of the XBox all by itself.

Awsome game. I would give it a ten if I could. Best racing game for the XBOX so far. Nothing comes close. Excellent game play and graphics.

Rallisport Challenge is a top notch racing game. It's challenging, exciting, has great graphics, the courses are well done and the Rally cars are awesome!

Its beginner and expert friendly. Anyone can pick this one up and have fun, only an expert can unlock all tracks and cars.

The multiplayer is nice but you better have a big TV, as its a little hard to see the course, but its fun anyway.

Cons are that it restarts you when you veer off course ever so slightly, no shortcuts on this game. The multiplayer menus are a llittle bit of a pain, when you select a new course it makes you select a car too, everytime.

All in all its a great racing game!

When I first picked up the controller for this game, I was terrible. I flew off the mountain curves, ran into signs, and often found my car just rolling around on the ground; yet it was fun! Many people I hear prefer "Colin McRae 3" for the simulation factor and I recently had the opportunity to test it out. I thought it was fine, but the controls weren't what I wanted. Also it felt much slower paced. Rallisport Challenge is a fast paced thrill ride which sends you from icey roads to downhill mountain tracks. I constantly find myself getting faster and faster in each track. Drifting and power sliding is essential, this isn't just a grip driving game. And if the controls do bother you, (it tends to be sensative, which is why I like it) you can always tweak it to your liking. It has deadzone and sensativity options. The graphics are top notch too for a game that's roughly 2 years old now. I just bought a new video card (AIW 9800 Pro) and it has further enhanced the realism of this game. I highly recommend this game for rally enthusiasts or just anyone who likes racing games in general.

This game is a joy to play. Superb entertainment. Awesome graphics and controls. Everyone I know who has played this game got really into it. Rallysport 2 is also fantastic.

Rallisport Challenge is a great game and looking down at other reviews says much to that fact. The cars are fun to drive, the tracks are great with some more challenging than others depending on the car you are driving.

There were only two things that I found "annoying" with the game at they are both based on the replay option. One, you can't rewind the action, only restart. The second is the camera angle with the driver's front tire. Who wants to look at that?

I would definitely recommend this game for those of you who are interested in rally sport.
