Shabby graphics, despicable gameplay

If you enjoy beating up old ladies, if you aspire to be a criminal, if you want to be a jerk or a criminal defense attorney, maybe this game is for you. Sure it's fantasy, but I hated the character, and wanted to play as someone else, namely a cop, so I could give the main character the beat down he deserves. Basically, I wanted to lose. Plus, the graphics are horrible, and stink of the game's PS2 heritage. The guy's legs look like sausages, and the other citizens look like circus freaks. Some textures on buildings are so blurry and low res it looks like an N64 game. The only good thing I have to say is the soundtrack is great.

grand theft BUG

Both of these games are great, but I have played both of these titles on both PS2 and Xbox and the xbox games are very buggy. The road suddenly disappears and other very strange stuff. The developers just hurried this out for x-mas without any testing.

I don't like the idea of training future criminals, but a friend had it and I did try it out. The graphics are all right. The music is good and varied. The list of stars doing the voices is impressive. With all of that said, the controls are terrible they are chunky and nothing like Halo or some other games. Give this one a pass and pick a nice racing game or at least be a good guy in a well made shooter game.

An intoxicating blend of script and open-ended action tied to outrageous, amoral violence and sex. What a waste of money, time and talent. The American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Psychological Association and other groups have already signed a joint statement of concern, saying in part that research strongly suggests that "prolonged viewing of media violence can lead to emotional desensitization toward violence in real life." Parents - get a clue. If you care about your kids this game should not be purchased. Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.

I trully don't understand why everyone loves these games. I mean EVERYONE LOVES THEM. So, I had to see what the fuss was about and rented them. These games are quite simply disgusting. I mean, why does everyone like to run around killing the police and random strangers for fun? And this is waht leads to violence. Kids exposed to trash like this might do some violent act in the future due to this. This is showing unecessary violence and sex. It's so disgusting. You can run around with a chainsaw and saw people in half or kill cops or do whatever you want. That is perverted. And the people that made this should be ashamed. But, what's this? Everyone loves to play this game? Everyone loves to run around killing innocent people and hijacking people's cars for fun? You know, there's a big difference between Halo and this. They're both about killing people but in Halo, you kill aliens and in this you kill humans. Cops. Old ladies. It's sick. And perverted. I am disgusted that anyone would like such filth. Stuff like this shouldn't even be allowed to bought and sh** like this is influencing people to do stuff like this in real life.
No one should play this. It doesn't matter if you're 10 or 40. No one should. You want to run around and do anything that you want? Why don't you buy the simpsons: hit and run? It's the same thing without the perverted sex and violence. And to think that everyone loves stuff like this. Wow...

promotion to abuse

The excellent graphics are great but why waist those on promoting abuse and destruction?

This product is adding to the numbness our youth already has toward care and concern for others.

Yes, we hope 17 and up are the only ones who can access this. However, we all know that this is not so.

I hope the authorities will take the time to realize their quick buck is not worth the deterioration they cause to the minds of the children. It is these same children that need to be taught how to be others oriented and not so self serving and destructive.

There are way too many bugs that plague the Xbox version of the game. I went through three copies of the game, trying to see if they were merely defective disks. They were not.

The first major problem occurs in Vice City: The people don't talk after about twelve minutes. This is extremely annoying, as this is an integral part of the gameplay. It isn't just there for comical kicks, its there for when cops chase you, or when you need to know how far away someone is. You are missing out, here.

The game has an awful framerate. Contrary to popular belief, it did not "improve". Anyone that does say it is "better" is either lying or being lied to. Like I said, I went through three copies of the game before I got my cash back. GTA3's framerate is abyssmal, Vice City's is slightly better. Both games freeze often, and the custom sound tracks tend to skip generously.

The games themselves play well, the controls aren't bad, if not a bit too twitchy on the first person view mode, but over all not bad. The games are nearly identical to the PS2 and PC games, which is also a good thing. Unfortunately, the PS2 and PC versions both play better than the Xbox versions, and cost signficantly less.

A side note: I'm not a fanboy for playstation. God forbid, I fear the day that I ever become a fanboy for anything other than The Matrix. I myself enjoy many Xbox games, like KOTOR and HALO. However, I can't recomend this port, even if Rockstar were to pay me a thousand dollars.

Shame on you Sony why you had to give an exclusive game away

Well it's finally here for all of you Xbox cry babies in the world that wanted Grand Theft Auto so bad on there little stupid Xbox's. Shame on you sony and the producers for the game for giving it away to make a quick buck. Since when has there ever been a game exclusively for PS2? I just hope that sony keeps Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter on PS2 and not give them away to. I also read in some of the reviews that the game plays really crappy any way SCREW YOU XBOX I WILL NEVER OWN ONE!

If you in any way have a life outside of video games, quite frankly, this game is not for you. As published this game has very open ended gameplay. For me, this was not enough to keep me in front of the Xbox. It really needed a little more. The graphics are horrible (very PS2) and the 1st person action just doesn't work. The best part of this game is the terrific story, but I just don't have a month or more to dedicate to this game.
