Full Spectrum Warrior is the closest thing to a simulation of a real mid intensity urban battle that I have ever seen, but there a few annoying diffrences. First of all no smart soldiers would ever stay that close to each other. Thats just askin to catch a grenade. It would have been better if the teams had been able to spread out and engage the enemy like you really should. The thing that really annoyed me the most about the game is some of the dialog. Alot of it is really funny, but when you are fighting and getting shot at no one says some of that stuff. And no one says Hooah like that. I hate that

I am currently deployed in a combat zone in Afghanistan. And I thought your comments about this game were harsh to say the least. I can tell you that our training for being in a combat zone is a lot more intense than sitting on our couch eating chips, drinking a beer, and playing an X-Box Game. This game I am planning on buying just for the simple fact that it is a cool idea and its an Army Game. I am not buying it to brush up on my combat skills. This is just a "VIDEO GAME" that is meant to be fun, for us IN or that believe in the military, as well as those like you that don't have the GUTS to put your life on the line for something greater than yourself.
Not much player involvement.

The graphics, atmosphere, and overall look of this game is pretty good. The gameplay is lousy, and has no replay potential. Remember those old games like space invaders or Pac Man, where once you figured out the sequence you could play forever? Well, FSW is a lot like that. There really is no skill or manual dexterity required, and really not even many alternatives to how you accomplish the missions. You are not free to move everywhere on the map. You just get channeled down a certain route, and then shoot who pops up. Basically all you do is place your cursor on the enemy and tell your squad to shoot. It takes these guys one shot to hit someone 400 feet away up on a castle turret, and around the next bend they use 300 rounds to hit a target hiding behind a hot dog stand. There really is no use of tactics, you just try a different combination of shooting, grenades, smoke grenades and see which one the game is programmed to perceive as a success.
Pretty intense/Very realistic

I'll get the one complaint I have about this game over with and out of the way...the camera always faces the wrong way!!! When switching from team to team in the heat of a gunfight, the camera will sometimes show the head-on view of the team instead of showing the over-the-shoulder view. It's a little picky but when your teammates are taking hits and you have to keep swiveling the camera around, frustration builds. All that said however, the game is great. The graphics are top-shelf. The sound effects are realistic. ( The mid-eastern music that plays in some scenes really gives an sense of location/realism). One of my favorite aspects is the chatter that comes from the platoon personnel. Some of their comments are hilarious. All in all, worth a purchase. At the least a rental.
Learn and implement Army tactics against the bad guys!

There are a ton of first-person shooters out there. Full Spectrum Warrior is not one of those, and thank goodness. Instead of run-and-gun, you command two Army squads through a series of urban-combat scenarios. Each fire team has a unique set of skills available to it (SAW gunner, grenadier, etc.), and the teams must negotiate a tactical puzzle to complete their mission.
I love that this game involves more than just pulling a trigger over and over. It requires you to use your mind in order to maneuver your teams and make best use of cover and firepower.
So give your FPS a rest and try a strategy game that's realistic enough that the Army uses a version of it to train its Soldiers. It's a fun game and a nice change of pace.
cool!

I got this game for my bday and it's pretty fun! It has some harsh language though, but it's still pretty fun.
In the game your the commander of two (sometimes three) army squads and you have to complete the given objective (sometimes it's to kill people or to take down a tank or de-acttivate bombs ect...).

I finally got my hands on this game not really expecting what I was going to get. I read some reviews and people aren't really clear on the game.
When you start this game, it will go over all the commands and such so you know exactly what to do in situations. This is so nice because you get taught everything before you play. The videos are just awesome to watch and it's so indepth. The swearing is very funny and entertaining but be-ye-warned parents, they do use the F-word and the S-word alot.
I will go into some cons before I run out of words.
- You are not allowed to fire weapons at any enemies. I found this really irritating because there are enemies out in the open but I have to stop, click X and tell my troops to engage. They are kinda slow to react and the enemies get away. The only thing you control is movement, grenades, smoke grenades, etc. You DO NOT control gun fire. You tell them where to shoot, and some cool commands but that is it. I sure wish they would have given us control but that is what this game is good for.
- You are unable to go around obsticles with your movement arrows so it gets rather annoying trying to move fast.
- Sometimes the camera angles are a bit annoying but I believe they made it that way because they only want you to see what the soldiers are seeing. And speaking of this, the fog is a great idea. OK enough rambling.
This game you have to think about what you are going to do instead of running around and killing people. Anyone who likes to think and use tactics will love this game. I give it five stars because X-box has nothing like this at this level yet. Good game, though it's not perfect in my mind, it's truly something you should buy. I can't wait for the next one. I'm going to go try it online now. Have a great day!

I really like this game. It's obvious that Pandemic was working in very close conjunction with the U.S. Armed Forces. My only problem I had with this game was after 3-4 hours of play the game began to get that not so fresh feeling. Also, the cursing and insobordination of soilder's leaves me to suggest this to 15 year olds and up(There is a lot of cursing I'm talking about the F--- word being used very flagrantly). As my title says, you must ,let me emphasize this ,MUST UNDERSTAND THAT YOU DO NOT SHOOT. now that that is out of the way you must know something else. This game emphasizes all the SF stand for "TACTICS BEAT FIREPOWER". So,in conclsion if you have no problem with a man shouting the "motherload" and the player not firing his gun, this game is going to make you happy. Get love it and never take it out of your 'box.

If you've played games like Socom 1 and 2, and loved them, this game is not for you. If your looking for a first person shooter where you can just run into action and blow somebodys head off, this games not for you. If your looking for a slower-paced tactical, millitary game, this is for you. I'm one of the people that love the Socom-like games. Therefor 50$ was a huge dissapointment. Rent this game before you buy it. The game to me was not fun at all, but there was great graphics. To me Graphics do not make a game, they may help it, but I'm totally into gameplay, and I cant play this game longer then an hour without falling asleep.
Great game

This is a great game, one of my favorites. It is very different than all those FPS games. It is a very realistic version of war game... deserves 5 out of 5.
