Hope it's more fun than the original

The first version of this game was missing something and it was the replay value. Sure, you can get to play some mini-games, but after awhile, boredome comes to you. SMB2 has to be at least a little more funner than the original. At LEAST this version has a story to it. Some weird monkey called Bad-Boon stole bananas? Anyway, the graphics look good, it has probably the same gameplay:Using the Control Stick to move the monkey in a ball towards the goal. This has to be a must-rent first like the original. It has some more games. It has the same one as the others except a sequel to it and some extras. I should be some fun, but rent it first to check it out!

This was my strange high light of my time in LA. Way more multi player levels. The regular game played like I couldn't ever put the controller down. I can't wait to play it at my own house. If you never played the ball buy or rent it asap and then pre order number 2. PS, quik tip always unlock the multi player and don't throw the controller.

My Wife and I play the origional Super Monkey Ball almost every day. We beat all the levels and opened up all the mini-games ages ago, but still find ourselves drawn to play this game day after day. If you have never experiences the origional go buy it now, It will give you a couple of weeks playing time before you hop in line for this one, and I guarantee you will.

Very challenging and super-addictive sequel to Super Monkey Ball, in which you control monkeys in balls to get to the other maze. This time the game has a plot which is Dr.Bad-Boon who has stolen the world's supply of bananas and now it's time for the monkeys to save monkeykind from extinction! More multiplayer games mean a great party game for anyone who owns a Gamecube.

The Monkeys are Back! Once again, inside the balls!

For those of you who haven't yet played Super Monkey Ball and have no idea what can it be about, here is a short explanation: The most fun and best party-puzzle game in the Nintendo Gamecube in which you get to control between four monkeys trapped inside a transparent ball. But the difficulty of it comes from what you really control: The floor. That is right!! You have to move the floor to be able to move the monkey. In other words, you move the floor not the monkey.
Now the sequel will arrive on august 29, 2002 (yep, the same day of Super Mario Sunshine) and it is looking awesome. First of all, the game has now a great story mode in which you will have to roll your monkey to defeat the bad Dr. Bad Boon. The game will also feature the old mini-games (the old mini-games with new features and options) plus 6 new ones (Dog fight, Monkey Tennis, Monkey Soccer, Monkey Rafting, Monkey Baseball, and Monkey Shoot out). It is a complete party game!!

A game for babies? Think again!! This game will start easly enough for you to practice for the real challenge. The more you advance, the more difficult the game gets (just as any other game would). But sometimes the difficulty will be so high that you will NOT pass it without enough practice. In other words, the game can get IMPOSSIBLE!

If you want a fun, but challenging game you should definately buy this game!Or if you want a party game before Mario Party4 comes out, then this is the game for you!

Monkey Madness

Perhaps it's my eager giddiness for "Super Monkey Ball" that causes a childish uproar of excitement whenever I sit and play this dazzling game. Whether aping your way through tiny-teeny platforms and curves, distracted by immense astonishing graphics, or beating other monkey strongmen in a mini-game, "...Monkey Ball" is a guilty pleasure, an addictive colorful world full of every color imaginable. For those of you out there who deem such a game as immature, stupid and atrocious, it's only because you haven't picked up a controller and attempted an expert level, while getting all the bananas and a time bonus. The game is what it is though - an excuse for nultiplayer madness, for single-player frustration, for fantastic fun wrapped up so innocently and squarely into a minidisk. Don't underappreciate the gameplay, the cheesy sound, the pre-pubescent quality; appreciate the sincerity, the creation, the invention and the overwhelming defeat of this game over all your senses.

Monkey Ball is back!!!

Super Monkey Ball 2 is possibly the most entertaining title out there. There are 14 different game modes, many things to unlock, 4-player action and much more.

The 'Main Game' is a marble-madness-style game, where you have to get your monkey ball to the goal by tilting the board. Along the way, you pick up bannanas, hit switches, go through transporters, find warps and much more. There are reportedly around 150 new boards to clear in Super Monkey Ball 2. 80 are available immediately through the Beginner, Advanced & Expert modes; the rest are unlocked by getting through the standard modes within the alotted number of lives.

New to Monkey Ball 2 is a Story mode. This puts a backstory to levels, albeit a kind of weak and weird one. It seems Dr. Bad-Boon has taken all of the bannanas from Monkey Island; our hero, AiAi, is determined to get them back. Basically, you will watch a scene transpire, then proceed to solve a set of 10 levels in order to proceed to the next world. There are 10 worlds, so it takes 100 levels to beat this mode. The levels are taken straight from the Main Game, but are given different backgrounds (ie one world's levels are set in a volcano, so there is a lot of lava & smoke in the background of each level).

In addition to the Main Game, there are 12 Party Games. All six from the first Monkey Ball game are back and are available from the start. The remaining six need to be unlocked using the Play Points you will earn from playing the Main Game.

Monkey Race has 6 new tracks, plus the ability to have 8 total players (1-4 human players plus 4-7 com players). New weapons include a missle that launches at all players around you & a gravity ball that slows players down. Expect to see more bumpers placed on the tracks to slow you down. Monkey Target now lets you use 1, 2 or 5 monkeys at once (depending on the number of people playing; 5 is available in one player only). When playing with friends, you now go at the same time in a split screen, and can knock each other off targets. Bannanas get you points; power-ups are found in the air with the bannanas now. Alas, the Wheel of Danger is gone. Monkey Fight now has levels with walls that get damaged & destroyed, plus a tie-breaking mode where you fight on a crumbling floor. Monkey Golf is less like mini-golf now, at least for the front 9 holes; the back 9 has more obstacles to get around. Monkey Bowling now has a Special mode, where each frame has a different lane, some of them moving! Monkey Billiards has several new game variations beyond 9-ball.

New games include Soccer, a 5-on-5 battle for goals; Baseball, where you try to hit the pitched monkey ball into the right slots in the outfield to get hits & runs; tennis, including singles and the extremely fun 1-4 player doubles (is best with 4 players); Monkey Shot, a Virtua Cop-type shooting game (also 1-4 players, but can get verrrry confusing with 4 players); Monkey Boat, a new Monkey Race variation that uses the L & R buttons to paddle; and Monkey Dogfight, where you take to the air and try to shoot the other monkeys out of the sky.

Play Points earned after unlocking all six games can be used to purchase 'Gifts', which consists of the movie scenes from the Story mode, the credit game from the end of the Main Game and the ability to start off with additional lives in the Main Game. You can purchase up to 99 lives, which will be a big help in allowing you to earn the extra levels.

Fans of Super Monkey Ball will eat this sequel up. Newcomers, this is a fabulous game and the original is absolutely still worth picking up. My friends & I logged well over 250 hours on my copy of the original, this will easily match that. This is a great party game that will keep you & your friends laughing, arguing & gloating for months.

Ape-tastic!

This game is so superb, it takes all the winning elements from the first Monkeyball game and expands, expands, expands. We're talking about major additions here: there's a brand-new story mode, there are tons of new mini-games to play - soccer, tennis, baseball, dogfight, shoot, & boat race. The old mini-games have been improved greatly: bowling has new special lanes that morph and change, racing has some great new courses, target can now be done simultaneously via the split-screen, fight has some new items and a new charge-up punch, pool now offers different games to play, plus there's so much more. The brand-new mini-games are excellent, especially dogfight (which is aircraft dogfighting with missiles etc). Tennis is also great, it plays like a cross between mario and virtua tennis, very fun indeed. Soccer and baseball are both pretty fun in shorter bursts. Monkey shoot is kinda like virtua cop, where you're shooting at a bunch of enemies, pretty fun too. Boat Race is the only one i'm not too sure about, its high level of difficulty will turn many gamers off. The graphics have been nicely improved over the abysmal first Monkeyball, which had very weak graphics indeed. There are way more level designs and they look way better, most have animated backgrounds and even some great particle effects (lava levels, water levels, a level inside a whale which is my personal favorite, etc etc). This sequel features so many improvements it basically renders the original game obsolete. I highly recommend purchasing this game, it provides hours of quality entertainment, the multiplayer options alone make this game well-worth a money purchase.
