I got persuaded into buying this game by the irresistable monkey characters, but soon found myself playing one of the most frustrating games of 2002. I personally own 14 game systems, and easily over 1,000 games, and this game can't hang with any of them. Yeah, it's fun for about an hour, but lets face it: The game is designed for people that like to be repeatedly killed, often by powers that they can't control. The later levels mostly rely on luck, partially due to the camera (which you can't control or rotate around the monkey). The graphics look like they were designed for the N64, and the "story" feels tacked on and has nothing to do with the game. Many people talk about how great the mini-games are, but they are much less sophisticated than those in Mario Party (and also are fewer in number). I just think Sega can do better.
fun game

This game has been a lot of fun for my daughter. She did say it was hard at first to get the character to do things.
It's similar to NeverBall

I was disappointed when my kids first fired up this game because it looks a lot like NeverBall (which is a free game for computers running Linux - may work on Windows and OS X too, I don't know).
However, the levels are interesting and challenging and require a good deal of hand/eye coordination. The game is broken up into three levels, so you can jump in at a higher level without having to be bored at the beginning levels, which is nice.
I don't play games much, but my kids seem to really like this game and play it fairly often.
Super Monkey Ball rocked my e3 experience!!

This was my strange high light of my time in LA. Way more multi player levels. The regular game played like I couldn't ever put the controller down. I can't wait to play it at my own house. If you never played the ball buy or rent it asap and then pre order number 2. PS, quik tip always unlock the multi player and don't throw the controller.

I think the Monkeys at Sega just wanted to make a few extra bannanas when they released Super Monkey Ball 2. It's basically just an update of the original game, with a few new games and a new single player format. It's really not that great, although with all the hype surrounding it, you probably think it is. By the way, I'm not one of those guys that just hates everything Sega. I used to own a Genesis, and I love most of their sports games. But this game and it's predecessor are just ridiculous. When you actually consider this games content, you'll realize how little fun rolling around in a sphere as a primate can be. This is just a warning: don't waste your money like I did. It really isn't worth it.

I purchased Super MOnkeyball 2 for my grandson and had it shipped halfway across the US. He got it in three days and I hear that his dad can't get him away from it. It was a win-win for everyone. Many thanks for your wonderful service

Super Monkey Ball 2 is an amazing game. Being a 16-year-old sophomore, who is rather popular and respected as one of the most mature teens anyone around here knows, I say this game is awesome. At first, it sounded stupid and childish, judging by the name. But, really, it can be quite challenging and very fun. Being able to play with up to three more people, it's a great competitive game. Several friends and I played for hours on end. There are various multiplayer games to get into, and each one is enjoyable in its own unique way. I think that anyone who wishes to compete with others, or anyone who is simply looking for a fun and family-friendly game, should purchase this. It's truly a great game.
Sequel to the sleeper hit!

Very challenging and super-addictive sequel to Super Monkey Ball, in which you control monkeys in balls to get to the other maze. This time the game has a plot which is Dr.Bad-Boon who has stolen the world's supply of bananas and now it's time for the monkeys to save monkeykind from extinction! More multiplayer games mean a great party game for anyone who owns a Gamecube.
Hope it's more fun than the original

The first version of this game was missing something and it was the replay value. Sure, you can get to play some mini-games, but after awhile, boredome comes to you. SMB2 has to be at least a little more funner than the original. At LEAST this version has a story to it. Some weird monkey called Bad-Boon stole bananas? Anyway, the graphics look good, it has probably the same gameplay:Using the Control Stick to move the monkey in a ball towards the goal. This has to be a must-rent first like the original. It has some more games. It has the same one as the others except a sequel to it and some extras. I should be some fun, but rent it first to check it out!
