I rented this game for 5 days and had to help my 5 year old son play it because of all the reading. Every time you go up to a character (and they are standing around all over the place) a balloon pops up that you have to read. He can't read yet, so I had to stay there the whole time and read everything. (I was hoping to get some housework done, lol.
I also have a 7 year old daughter. She can read some of it, but it is so much reading, she gets tired of it. Maybe in a few years we'll try it again. I don't know why the characters don't just "talk" instead.

When I played this game, it was so boring. Here are three reasons why:
1) It's hard to control the people.
2) Very hard for a 6 year old.
3) Just dumb.
So this is 3 reasons why this game is BAD!

This game is so over-rated. First of all it takes 45 minutes from the time you turn it on before you actually get to do something besides reading dumb scripts. Then when you finally are able to take control and fight some enemies it gets even worse. NES Super Mario from back in the day kicks this game's ass.

This game was sooo easy. We beat it the first day we got it. It was a big disapointment. I would rather be playing a different game. Don't buy it. Not worth the $$$$

Storyline-Good. Not amazing, but decent. Peach is kidnapped yet again, but this time it's not bowser, but the evil Xnauts. Bowser is furious at them, he wants to do it himself. You also have to find the crystal stars to open the door to a treasure. It involves being tricked, becoming a shadow, becoming a star, the mafia and love, and all sorts of fun stuff. Cutscenes are a ton of fun.
Controls-Excellent. You use your paperieness to your benifit, slipping in between bars, blowing of sheets that cover hidden doors, and turning into airplanes. The battles are easy, turn based, and based on timing. Each move is differant.
Characters-Each partner is unique and has alot to say. The have personalities and goals, and they all have differant abilities, both in and out of battle.
Extras-Stupid things, like the audience, the job board, and the tattle log make the game alot more fun!
Audio-Could use a little work.
Visual-No complaints, I love the game's graphics.
Replayability-Pretty low.

a real gaming gem. stick this in your 'cube and your guranteed gaming goodness and this disc spinning in your 'cube will make you + your 'cube happy. nintendo really have pulled out all the stops for a funny, colourful, great graphics, excellent RPg type quest with excellent fights and evryone's fave plumber and it's something evryone can relate to. Take that SONY!

if you liked the first game get this, paper mario is one of the best non sqaresoft rpg for gamecube it has tons of fun things to do and you get to go on after you "beat" the game! (the arena is the best =D)

This amazing game features sigifigant improvements onto the original Paper Mario game. It is a must for anyone who enjoyed the previous game in the series, and should be enjoyed by any Mario fan. It features a brand new storyline with new characters, powerups and surprises hidden around each corner. Although the price at the moment is high ($50.00), it seems to be as if worth the buy.
