If this game had come out 5 years ago it would have been considered good, apart from the horrible settings editor and server browser.
However battlefield 1942 came out two years ago and is still the far better game.
If you are a star wars nerd buy it, otherwise don't.
Excellent game!

The last Star Wars game I really enjoyed was Rogue Squadron for PC. After that I got into Battlefield as those games are not so scripted. When you memorize where the surprises are in a game, well, then there are no surprises. Battlefront has the dynamic gameplay of Battlefield set in the Star Wars universe and it is incredibly enjoyable! Far from being boring, it is different each and every time you play it whether that is in singleplay or multiplay mode. Now that LucasArts has announced Battlefront2 I can't wait to pre-order it!

Star Wars. Who hasn't seen a Star Wars movie without wishing that they were smoking Ewoks and battle droids? Now, with Star Wars: Battlefront, you can relive the classic battles.
In this game, there are several campaign missions, Historical Campaign and Galactic Conquest. The latter is more of a what-if scenario, allowing you to choose what side to conquer the galaxy with. However, there's really not much difference between the two, all are just about battling.
Each side gets different types of troops to be. The basics are a standard infantry troop, with a rapid-fire rifle, a heavy weapons troop with a rocket launcher, a sniper with a sniper rifle, a pilot with the ability to heal droids and vehicles, and some sort of special class, whether it be a jet-packed trooper or a Wookiee. Different troops have different advantages when it comes to maps. For example, a map with tons of vehicles would be a good place for a pilot.
Overall, Battlefront is a nicely made game, not enough to compare with Half-Life and Halo, but a nice game to have. The AI is okay, with your comrades sometimes being helpful, and sometimes just staring blankly into space to be bantha fodder. The game physics is odd, as it's in the Star Wars universe, but features wacky rag-doll physics. The graphics are excellent, along with the sound (was there ever a movie or game by LucasArts with bad sound?). The replay factor is somewhat weak, and the loading time somewhat long, but otherwise worth it.
Best Video game ever!

My Sunday School teacher holds a party for us every month. He would invite us to his party if we came every week to Sunday School. One time he brought Star Wars Battlefront to his party, since it was a sleep-over, it was easier to get to almost end the very beginning of the game. We had to spend day and night just to get to the 4th level. that's good!
I remember the first level where we were in Naboo's Royal Palace could be a destroyer droid or be a battle droid and be able to pilot anything to get all the enemies deceased.
I also remember the 2nd level where we were the again were droids and we were fighting the Gungun army and there is ion cannons (as in Star Wars Episode 5 "The Empire Strikes Back) all around the place.
The 3rd level was the battle on Geonosis and it was so hard! In this level you are the Clones. But they're still easy to be killed. You'd better watch out on this level.
Finnaly, on the 4th level you are again clones on Kashyakk and we saw a Sith! since we didn't want to be killed, so we avoided him at all costs.
I don't know what the rest of the game is like but the game rocks. And I mean that... I really do!

First off, when I tried to install this game I was treated to having an invalid CD that came with the game. After calling Lucas Arts, they confirmed that this was a known problem and gave me new one.
Buyers be warned. SW Battlefront crashes with a "Buffer overrun" error on XP Service Pack 2. If you have installed SP2, then do not buy this game.
Gonna be awesome

This is gonna be an awesome game. An Xbox demo of it will come with the Star Wars Original Trilogy DVD Box Set. Ten planets, twenty maps, four militaries, each military having five or six soldier classes. The only thing not awesome about this game is that the game doesn't have the graphics player model-wise. The vehicles and environments look awesome though.
Straight forward Starwars battles.

To be fair, I only play this Single player against the AI.
As such, I play this game alot. Somtimes I like it more than SWBF II. Battlefront2 adds lot to the shell of this game and offers more maps to battle in, however Battlefront 2 does NOT offer cockpit views as this does. Its not a game breaking feature by anymeans, but I personally like it better if I feel like im actually driving the tank/snow-walker.
The graphics are great, and this games uses its tech well.
All in all, its worth buying if you like Starwars, Don't have alot of time to play computergames, or you just like a good battle every one in a while.

I think the good parts of the game are the vehicles you can drive, the realistic images, and the places you can fight. The bad parts are that you can't actually do certain things, like fall into snow on Hoth or break a vine in Dagobath.

This game is lots of fun. Gameplay is smooth and the DVD quality is very high. The game still has support from the manufacturer. There is an avid on-line community which loves to play this game, even though it debuted several years ago. I think it has to do with a combination of the Star Wars mythology and how much fun this game is to play. I originally bought this PC game a few years ago in the CD-ROM version. I now have the DVD version on my laptop. My son and I go online together and play this game. Sometimes we are on the same side, sometimes not, but we've had a lot of laughs playing this game. He gets a kick out of "whacking" the old man! Some people may consider this violent but we treat it like a virtual paintball game (there is no animated bloodshed).
Highly recommended! Best $10 you can spend on a game.

Before buying this game, I'd read a review that mentioned that people had been having trouble installing it due to corrupt discs. Upon purchasing my own copy, I encountered the same problem. However, after an unsuccessful attempt to install the game the first time, I tried it again using my second CD-ROM drive, because I'd had a similar problem when installing another product awhile back. Using the other drive, it installed without any problem, so it would seem that there's something about the formatting of the disc (or something along those lines) that would cause it to not work correctly on some drives (the drive that it wouldn't install correctly from is a Samsung, and if you've ever owned one of their DVD players, this won't come as a surprise to you).
Once the game was installed and I began to play, I found that the manual was incorrect in more than one place. To their credit, the publisher mentions that you should check out the README file because some information may have changed since the manual was finished, but I've never read such in incomplete, inaccurate manual in all my years of playing computer games.
The game itself also seems rushed to coincide with the DVD release of the original trilogy. That being said, it IS a fun game, and the graphics, while not cutting edge, get the job done. The A.I. in the single player mode is also very well done.
With a patch, this one could really be polished up.
