Just OK

2 Rating: 2, Useful: 23 / 49

Let me say first, that upon seeing Nightlife advertised, I had no interest in it whatsoever. However, the expansion was given to me, so I gave it a whirl. Unsuprisingly, it is exactly how I expected it to be- just ok.
A longtime Sims fanatac (I own the first Sims and all of its expansions), I've been a bit disapointed with the Sims 2 in general. Sure, the graphics are stellar, but the load times are ridiculous for your average gamer. Unless your pc is seriously tricked out, you will have to spend a looooong time waiting. Furthermore, Sims 2 failed to revolutionize the original Sims, all it really did was improve the graphics and alow the sims to age. (Which takes waaay to long as well).
But I digress. Back to Nightlife. The game doesn't add anything really cool or interesting to the game. Some of the objects/building accessories are kinda fun, and it adds a number of new skins (suprisingly, no *special* pajamas). Regardless, the main draw for the game is missing - the downtown is nothing the Sims gamer is new to, and frankly, its kinda gotten old, boring, & tired. The cars are cool, but a bit overhyped. For some reason a husband and wife can't share a car, and its very difficult, if not impossible, to fit two driveways onto one small or medium sized lot (not to mention expensive). The blind date thing is ok, but not a really significant add on. Overall, its just ok.

A "Simful" Life of Pleasure

I am very pleased with this expansion pack for the simple reason that your Sim(s) can now pursue a "Life of Pleasure" aspiration. It is the best so far, and the easiest to use. The new objects are great, and have the most interesting and comical interations yet. I love how these Sims can finally use karaoke machines, spin as a DJ, and dine out with other Sims.
There are great new "Downtown Sims" to meet and very cool new clothes and hairstyles for your Sims too.
I wish there had been another Downtown area developed by the Sims creators, because it could take you hours to make one yourself. The other thing I really don't like is the horrible wait time between location/family loads. It takes twice as long as the University expansion pack time, which was an almost insanity-inducing length.
I highly recommend purchasing this if you love The Sims 2. It's better than the University one and more fun.

This expansion pack is great!

I am very pleased with this EP. I love the Downtown lot and the new interactions for my sims. I was disappointed with University but the Nightlife Expansion Pack should be on everyone's "must have" list.

Good times!

The Sims 2: Nightlife expansion pack seamlessly integrates features from Sims 2 and Sims 2: University, and adds fun new features as well. Sims can now purchase a car, as sims out on dates and drive to various downtown lots. Added features like the new "pleasure" aspiration and turn ons make this game more realistic than the rest. All in all, I'd say this is the best expansion pack yet.

overall, pretty good, minus the bugs and gliches

This is by far the best expansion for either the sims or the sims 2. I think it make the game only that much more enjoyable...that is when the camera is skipping around. The cars were an awesome addition, as well as the turn on and offs, it makes finding a date that much easier.

Overall, this expansion pack make the sims 2 that much more addicting, I already missed a few classes because i was so engrossed in this game.

Response to Computer Crashing

For the person who wrote that her computer crashes everytime she goes downtown, disable your virus scanner and your network connection on your computer before playing this game. It sounds like your virus scanner is blocking certain aspects of the game.

Finally you have cars! And you can once again cruise the town to do anything from bowling, to drinking, to loosing all your money at the poker table. This game adds fun and funny dimensions to the regular sims 2 and definitely beats University. Outfits can again be purchased!

Entertaining

I enjoyed this expansion pack - it introduces a number of new gameplay options, and allows for more complex relationships between sims. The vampire option I find particularly entertaining. The downtown neighborhoods can be slow to load, but the new friendship and romantic options are worth it.

Cars - yay!!! The new clothing is okay, but there is whole heap of weird gear that will never get used. The new interactions are awesome. The Downtown area of the game is really pretty cool. Overall a great expansion with the added bonus of vampires.

Excellent!

This is a really great expansion pack to The Sims 2. The downtown area is well made. This game adds some really neat items in the catalog, although they are expensive. There are only five cars you can choose from, but they are great to have around! This expansion is just as wonderful as the University one. I would recommend it to all the Sims game lovers!
