Mario returns to the spotlight. But it's not a new Mario games. It's actually Super Mario Bros. 2 and the Original Mario game from the regular Nintendo Entertainment System. Now you can go head to head with up to four people using the GBA link cable. Plus only one person has to have the Super Mario Advance cartridge, the other players can just download the stage to play it. So Super Mario Advance is one awsome remake of an older game. ....
The must have gameboy advance game!

Remember the original Super Mario 2 for Nintendo? Well it's back and better than ever! With improved graphics, this will prove to be the best handheld Mario ever. It offers a wide variety of enemies and levels to go through. The sound is great and the graphics are crisp. This is a must have game with your brand new Gameboy Advance.

Let me see. Are you one of those gamers who never found a great game in your whole life that's portable. Well it's about time they have something good. See I already played this game in a import shop and I was blown away by the graphics. I couldn't believe that soemthing this small could be so powerful. It's like a dream way in the past I had and I finally found it. Buy this game as soon as it comes out because it will be a game that will strike a new era in handheld videogames. Plus it has two mario games in one and also link play for 4 player battle! That is amazingly fun. Buy it fast or else there might be shortages because no one else can find a game like it...
Super Mario Bros 2...in your pocket.

If your an old school gamer like me, and you owned the original NES then you probably remember the Super Mario Bros. sequel. Yes it was different, you could pick up vegetables and enemies and hurl them to defeat more enemies, but this was the most unique Mario Bros. game ever. New enemies, new tricks, you can play as either Mario, Luigi, Toad or Princess Toadstool(Peach) and face off against someone other thann Bowswer...Wart!! Great graphics and great gameplay makes this game a must have for you launch list.
I want my very own Mario Advance!!

This will be the greatest mario in Nintendo's History!! The gameboy advance's "advanced hardware" allows any and all NES and SNES games to be ported to the gameboy advance. I'm glad they decided to start with Mario Two. This was always my favorite Mario game and I'm sure with the old school additions like mario bros. (original), and new school additions like four player link, I'll be playing this game daily!! You will too!!
Super mario Advance is GREAT!

Super Mario Advance is totally COOL! I played it at Toys R Us, and it was great! You can play the Original Super Mario Bros.the battle mode(hook up to four players for this, only using one game console, you can do this by downloading the game to other linked systems), or the new and improved Super Mario Advance. The new one has added baddies,or baddies in other places. And,to beat bosses(not all bosses are Bowser)and baddies, you don't just bop 'em on their head(as is in Super Nintendo),but throw items at them! This game is definatly a harder version than the original one as we know it on the Super Nintendo. Super Mario Advance is a good launch title for the Game Boy Advance.I give it a 10/10 in rating(ten being the best). If you get a Game Boy Advance, your first game has to be Super Mario Advance. It's GREAT!
This NES port is not executed very well :(

_____I remember playing SMB2 on my NES for hours at a time, finding every mushroom, every warp vase, every shortcut, and beating every boss. With every character, of course. So I was really anticipating that I would relive that experience with the GBA.
_____So I got the new GBA (import) and Super Mario Advance, and started playing. Everything was going great; beautiful screen, nice sound. But then I started getting into some problems that really messed up the experience for me.
_____First off, the entire game screen cannot fit onto the game screen. This means two things: 1) you have to vertically toggle the camera view with the L button to see above or below you, and 2) it is extremely difficult to avoid enemies coming at you from the left side. This is because the camera likes to keep your character on the left 25% of the screen or right 25%, which means you are closer to the edge than you would normally be on the NES. And since you are always closer to the edge, you have a much much shorter reaction time to those enemies that charge at you from the left or right.
_____This problem, as well as a slight difference in controlling the characters themselves (they seem to slide a little more than on the NES), can make the game extremely frustrating at times. You can end up spending several lives just to get past one level.
_____Also a bit fristrating was the slot machine game at the end. On the NES version there was a way to get an extra life with every coin, by timing your button pushes a certain way. On the GBA it seems like they fixed this so it is not much much harder to get extra lives. And this is also frustrating. You can go through all your collected coins without earning a single extra life.
_____Mario Bros, on the other hand, was ported flawlessly to the GBA. I have yet to play it with the link, but I'm sure it will be fun. The game stays true to its simple premise: avoid enemies, bump them from underneath and kick them over. Some people might shy away from this game, but to me it is true 1980's gaming nostalgia. :)
_____I really wish I could say some nicer things about this game. The graphics and sound are top-notch, and the designers have added extras to enhance the gameplay (collecting coins, for example). But the camera problems just hurt this game too much for it to be that enjoyable.
It's GOOD

"SUPER MARIO ADVANCE / SUPER MARIO BROS. 2"
I am a 34 year old "Nintendo" Game Fan, and they say "Nintendo" games are just for kids. I've been playing video games before most video game player's were born. So I know what is good and what is not good. "Super Mario Bros. 2" is a great game. I have played it many times, and it's the only "Super Mario" game that lets you play as "Mario," "Luigi," "Princess Peach," or "Toad." I have beat the game Hundreds of times as each of the characters, and I never get tired of playing it again, and again. I haven't played the "Game Boy Advance" Version yet, but it looks to me that it will surpass the original with added idems. Plus it also has the original Mario Bros. Arcade Game included with it. You can't lose. Buy it!
Its good... but not enough

Mario Advance is basically a conversion of the Mario 2 game on the SNES Mario All Star collection, released in 1993/94.
However, Mario 2 on the SNES was also a conversion of the NES Mario 2 game released in 1988. So why did Nintendo choose to release it a third time?
Well, it seems that Nintendo didn't have enough time to make a completly brand new Mario title, and so they decided to release the aging Mario 2 onto the system.
However, its not a straight conversion. As Mario DX was on the GBC, Nintendo have added several extras into the game such as:
*Score
*5 Coins to collect per level
*Voices
*Scaled Enemys/Vegatables
*The "Pots" are now home to show of GBA special effects
*More Hearts
*Save Per Stage
*Yoshi Challenge
*4 Player Battle
And it also comes with "Mario Classic" which is the original Mario bros Arcade game.
The game does show of the new technology very well, but the problem with it is that:
A) Most of us has played at least one rendition of it before
B) Its considered the worst of the Mario series - it wasn't even a proper Mario game to start of with - It was originally "Doki Doki Panic" and Nintendo switched graphics over to make a Mario Game.
The new modes do add to the game, and it does seem harder than the older versions (mainly because the screen size is smaller).
You can also have 4 Player games using one cartridge which is pretty good value.
The major difference between this and the older versions is that Nintendo have added voices to the characters. Personally, I don't mind them but I must admit Toads voice is pretty bad.
Overall - if you have never played Mario 2 before - buy it. If you find Mario 2 great fun and would enjoy playing it again - buy it. But if you have played it already to death, the new features might not warrant your purchasing again.
Final Notes: Nintendo will be releasing Mario 3 and Mario World later this year. I would recommend waiting for either of these! But really Mario Advance, isnt as bad as a lot of people are saying it is.
