I have been a big fan of Guitar Hero for a while and when I heard about Harmonix making Rock Band I knew it would be a hit. I like that you can now play with more people, four at a time. The addition of drums to the game is awesome. It takes a little practice to get good at the drums and it can tire you out fast, but once you let loose on an insane drum solo, you'll be glad you got this game. Also for those of you who love karaoke, you can sing along to your favorite songs in Rock Band!
Build a band with your friends and try and see if you have what it takes to gain Rock Band stardom. This game is great and I think it will be one of the best gifts for Christmas 2007.
The guitar in Rock Band is a little different than the one from Guitar Hero, it has some extra options and a different feel. I think I like the guitar from Guitar Hero better, but guess what? - That guitar works with Rock Band!
An absolute blast

This game is an absolute blast. Even after paying $[...] for it, it has exceeded my expectations. Haven't experienced any hardware problems. The entire package, both software and hardware, is very well put together. Highly recommended.
So Fun!! Be sure to buy an extra guitar though!

I think this is going to be THE hot christmas toy for 2007 so buy yours now before your stuck getting one off ebay and paying more than you should.
One thing to note. The bundle comes with a mic, guitar, and drums. HOWEVER the game can allow for 4 players at the same time (mic, guitar, drums, and bass), if you want the full experience of the entire band YOU MUST BUY AN ADDITIONAL GUITAR! It is NOT included in the bundle. A lot of people don't realize this. Any guitar from the Guitar Hero games will work. If you don't buy one, you are going to wish you did.
Of course you have the option of playing from 1 to 4 players at once so its not essential to have the extra guitar (it won't stop you from playing the game) but if you want to rock with friends and fill out the entire band, you'll want it.
Awesome game, lots of fun. You can start out on easy mode and work your way up. They are going to have new song packs to download and lots of other fun additions so it will stay fresh and exciting for a while. I'd say the only bad part of this game is the fact that I can't stop playing it! Very addictive.
Its a RockBand alright..

Well this game is stellar from start to finish.. in solo or multiplayer mode take on the world by yourself or with friends on the Drums, Mic, Bass or Electric guitar. In this game up to 4 people can play a seperate instrument at the same time and while its good its no 5 star game a few complaints i've heard and experienced while playing this game is that the drums ar'nt sensitive enough and the supplied guitar fels like it sticks not clicking to let you know a note was hit but other than that the game pretty much plays great definantly an experience that has to be done by you the player!
Great Game, some minor bugs, Bad Hardware

Gameplay itself is quite good, satisfying, incredibly fun with a group of people and a terrific value as I find myself playing the game alone and with others, just constantly, forsaking all other forms of entertainment (thank you writer's strike). On the downside, the game's menu system can be a bit frustrating as it is sometimes unclear how to sign a player in or who is signed in or how to sign someone out and how to get to the XBOX marketplace to buy songs. And the greatest failing of the game I would say is that the guitar breaks. Perhaps this is somewhat due to how fun the game is and how people have been playing it for hours and hours without end. I'm now on my second guitar (replaced under warranty) and the new one is starting to break also. There are various complaints on the internet about this. Mostly, the strummer gets unresponsive after a time, it fatigues and fails to return to neutral position fast enough to play a series of quick short notes. I've also had minor problems with the included USB hub which requires unplugging and replugging each time I startup the system. I still have to recommend the game though because it is so much damn fun.

I do not own an Xbox, but my sister does. So i was more than thrilled when she told me instead of getting Guitar Hero III (which i own on wii) she got Rockband.
If you've ever played GH you'll find Rockband (using the guitar) is exactly the same. I actually find Rockband to be easier than Guitar Hero. It may be because with Rockband it's not just about the guitar, but the drums, bass and singer too (if you decide to include all those elements).
I've played for a total of maybe 8 hours and have loved every minute of it. The only thing i haven't tried was singing.
This is what i know:
You can create your person with tons of different styles, size, hair, hair color, eye color and attitude.
You can buy clothes from tons of different shops, sometimes so much it's overwhelming!
You can play in a solo tour, or you can play multiplayer tour. I have done both.
I personally like how much it's like GH but at the same time you get to customize like crazy! Tattoos even, you can use ones they have or create your own.
The guitar it's self is awesome, i was unsure at first using it because it felt so light and cheapy but when comparing to the guitar i use on GH it's pretty awesome. It's so quiet! I can hardly hear any clicking i may be doing. Can't say the same things for the drums, those are quite loud so unless you have your TV turned up you can't drowned out the sound of the banging it's a noisey game.
All in all i love it, but like i said i don't live with it everyday. Playing every once in awhile though has me hooked. I think it's a perfect game for all ages. Even my girlfriend who doesn't like games has tried Guitar Hero (now to get her to play Rockband). I hope it comes out for Wii. Though we all know it won't look as crisp and clear as it does on the Xbox.
Head and shoulders above Guitar Hero

As you would expect, the company that invented and made Guitar Hero and GH2 such a smashing success came out with another product that will blow you away. This is not only fun solo, you will have a party with another 1-3 people. I've had a few friends over and everyone fights over the drums. They are without a doubt the most fun and challenging part of the game. But everything else rocks too.
Great, great game. ROCK ON ROCK BAND, and those who PLAY ROCK BAND

Rock Band, as you most likely know, takes Guitar Hero's game play and mixes in drum, bass AND vocals to create the ULTIMATE rocking experience. The game has multi game modes. Pack up your weapon of choice and start a solo career in Solo Career.
Play any song you have unlocked in Quick Play. Perfect those guitar solos that have been kicking your butt, nail them though drum parts or get those hard-to-reach singing pitches in Practice Mode. Or, if you want to play Rock Band as it's name suggests, as a band, then start a band a ROCK THE WORLD in band World Tour Mode.
Let me describe to you the feel of each instrument and their features:
Guitar and Bass: First, for the 360, which is the console I have this game on, the guitar serves not only as the electric guitar, but also as a bass guitar. So just a quick news flash.
The guitar shape and style is a black Fender stratocaster with a white plated finish. Now you are probably thinking "Wha? English, if you please!" To make a long description short, it's the same shape guitar as the PS2 Guitar Hero guitar, only it's a Fender Stratocaster.
The guitar has a switch on it. The switch is for switching the sound your guitar makes. It ranges from wah-wah, flanger, echo, chorus and none. It features a whammy bar and 2 sets of strings,5 on the original position at the top and 5 at a new position at the bottom of the neck. The new buttons have 2 really cool features:
1: They are smaller, so those of you with small hands would probably be more comfy with these buttons.
2.When you get into a solo, you can use these buttons the whole solo AND you can use hammer-ons and pull-offs the whole time, which makes you feel completely awesome.
Thats my overview for the guitar.
Drums: The drums take a while to set up,but they are very cool to use. They come with REAL drumsticks. There are 4 pads, the red pad, yellow pad, blue pad and yellow pad. There is one pedal, the bass pedal. They prove a challenge, but practice makes perfect.
Vocals: Those of you familiar with Karaoke Revolution (I am not, by the way. I just heard about it when I was looking a this game on Wikipedia)
will have a easier time with the vocals. The mic is branded with the Rock Band logo. Words will scroll by the screen so you need to sing them with the correct pitch.
OK with that done lets talk about the character creation. When you customize your own rocker,(the folks who did this game really outdid themselves in this area) you can choose their attitude from punk to metal, choose their clothes from different genres of rock, and much more.
Rock Band, taken as a whole, is the best music game ever made. Invite some friends over and play the game as a band. If you get a band going, master all the instruments and whatnot, then you will find tons of great things in Rock Band. The games heavy price tag is well justified.
Ultimate party game.

The song list isn't quite as good as Guitar Hero 3's (although the downloadable content is much better), and the guitar charts are considerably easier. The instruments seem decent, although I haven't used the guitar too much. That being said, there's no other game that can touch the experience of rocking out with three other friends (either in the same room or over XBox Live). It's the ultimate party game.
Fantastic

I am a 37 year old gamer. This game is fantastic. Better than Guitar Hero 3. My 10 year old son likes it. Even my wife likes it. It is the first game I have had in a long time that I do not want to stop playing. We have also had friends over during the Holiday and they all have really enjoyed it. Great party game.
