Rock Band Review

I think that this game is awesome. The day I received the game my family and me were playing from the morning like to 1 a.m. I was also surprised that my XBox did not burned, ja ja.

Talking about the game, it is super fun to play it, specially with other people. The game is also very fun to play it alone, it has a very comprehensive learning curve, so you really can master your habilities with the perihperals, even if you do not know anything about the instruments (just like me).

Finally, I recommend this game to everyone if you want to have a good time with other people.

Fun with friends / party

This game gets really boring by yourself... I hope you have friends. The only time I've had a lot of fun with this is when I brought it to parties and had friends over.

I take out a star because I wish it had more single player potential. Guitar Hero is much more fun solo.

Great Party Game

I had been playing GH II for some time and have been wanting to get this game. Thanks to Amazon's speedy shipping, it made it here in no time flat and the party started right away.

The guitar is a bit different to get used to, but it's ability to make less noise than the other available versions is nice. Plus it has some smaller buttons that work nice if you don't have fat fingers or little kids, but they are a bit awkward to hold onto. My guitar also stopped strumming after 5 days, but I messed with it a bit and it worked again.

The drums are very durable and when you get into the music, really take a beating. The only thing is that they are really hard to get used to compare to the guitar. As opposed to the guitar where you work your way into the other colors on the other difficulties, this one starts you out using everything. The only difference in levels is usually more foot pedal action and a couple more taps in between some notes. So it goes from hard to insanely hard for those like me that have an issue with coordinating rhythm with two arms and a foot.

The mic compared to other USB mics seems like a "real" mic, it is heavier and has a metal look. Just so happens that I have another game that came with a mic for a different system, but because it is USB, it works just the same. It makes the singing part of the game into karaoke wars.

There are 58 songs and getting the chance to sing, play guitar/bass, or beat the drums to it really shows all sides of the music. There is a fair range of songs, not all are considered rock, but most are your typical male voice singing rocking type songs. I find the graphics truly amazing as well. You get to customize your characters with tattoos, face paint, clothing designs, hairstyles, even their attitude. This character continues to reflect through the entire game as well, loading screens, interacting with the singer while playing Bass, everything, it makes you feel like you are the one on stage. The only thing I found an issue with is that is per character, per instrument. So in the solo tour, I have to build separate money pots as I progress through each tour. Oh, and the "Hammer ON/Off" notes are hard to distinguish.

This is not a kid easy game either though, if your kids are good at Guitar Hero and about 7 years or older, they should be ok. My 5 and 6 year old have a tough time but enjoy it, especially thrilled if they make it through a song.

So much fun, but get the warranty if you can

I really love playing Rock Band. The game is so much fun and there are so many different things you can do in the game. You can customize characters, play different difficulty levels, go on tour, play with your friends, and play all the different instruments. I really enjoy this game, but it is common to have problems with yor equipment. The green drum on my set only worked half the time, but with the warranty, you just take it in and they give you a new one on the spot with no hassle. Two of my friends had a problem with their guitars, so it is worth it to get the warranty for this game. With all the options you have, this game will keep you busy for a very long time!

Fun family or party game with a few flaws

This game is a lot of fun to play as a group. There are a few issues with it that could have made the game even better: Once a band is formed the members are "stuck" in their instrument roles. It's fun to switch around the different instruments once in a while, and the game seems to make this impossible in the same career (workaround is playing as someone else). Also, the difficulty levels are a bit uneven... Percussion on easy is every bit as hard as guitar on medium. Lastly, it's nice that a USB hub was provided, but unless you set up your console on the ground the ultra-short cable on the hub, with the weight of the hub and several more cables plugged into it will tend to pull out of the front panel sockets and seems like it could even cause damage. I added a USB extension cable in between to fix this problem and extend the reach of the instruments.

Once you start, you can't stop

I guess I'll start by saying I never played Guitar Hero or any game similar prior to buying Rock Band. Having said that, the first time I picked up the guitar and started playing, I was hooked. As a matter of fact, every instrument is really fun to play, whether it is by yourself or with other people. To help you out I'll list some of my personal pros and cons.

Guitar- This is actually a very cool looking guitar and it has buttons on both the top and bottom. I found that if you have smaller hands or children, the bottom buttons make it very easy to play and these buttons can also be used in your solos without even strumming. It does have it's problems however. There is a small lever near the bottom of the guitar that changes the way the guitar sounds, and I often find myself hitting this and throwing off my rythym. My biggest problem though, is I have a lot of trouble trying to deploy the star power by rasing the guitar. I'm not sure whether it is the controller itself, or me, but it can be difficult.

Drums- The drums can be tricky to learn and will be verrrry frustrating but once you figure them out they are really quite fun. I really have no major complaints other than they can make an awful lot of noise when someone really gets into

WOW! AWESOME! PARENTS AND KIDS JUST LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!!

ROCK BAND IS GREAT. I HAVE 3 KIDS (TWINS -13 YRS. AND 1 6YR OLD) THEY LOVE TO PLAY THIS TOGETHER. MY KIDS HAD A FRIEND OVER AND HE HAS GUITAR HERO AND HE WAS ABLE TO HOOK HIS GUITAR IN WITH THE ROCK BAND AND ALL 4 COULD PLAY. THEY HAD A GREAT TIME. THINGS CAN GET A LITTLE LOUD, BUT IT IS DEFINITELY GIVING THE KIDS AN APPRECIATION FOR MUSIC. THE ONLY THING I WISH IS THAT THERE WERE MORE POP SONGS! GREAT BUY AND WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO FRIENDS.

I got the game on same release date 11/20/2007. I had not to wait in line and just got off from work went to store and brought the whole package home. My wife is old style ... very stingy, low tech, and videogame-less life. She was initially upset with me for once again spending money on toys. Long story short I managed to make her play the guitar while I was on drums and after three hours of continous struggle we ROCKED. I finally managed to get my wife hooked up with XBOX360.

Later I went to sleep and all I know that she was still playing solo.

Now the problem is that I am fearing that I might have to buy another XBOX360 for her, so I can play my other games as well.

Great game... or THE GREATEST GAME??

That's what my friend Ryan would say, atleast.

After being sorely disappointed with Guitar Hero 3 (after being sold by Harmonix) I was looking forward to this new Harmonix game.

Oh my. OH MY. This is sure to be the best party game of the year, if not the century. It is certainly loud, and if you live in an apartment complex, you're going to have some irritated neighbors, but I think it's worth it.

The drums are superb, the guitar takes a few seconds of getting used to and you're good to go, the mic is.. well a mic.. and we used the guitar hero guitar for bass, and it worked great.

My only qualms:
- Not a huge fan of the soundtrack when it comes to being the singer
- Too many repeats of songs (in mystery song mode, and playing the same songs in other cities)
- The notes are a little hard to read when you're in "star power" mode because they're so much smaller now and the whole things lights up.

However, none of these things are a reason for not buying the game. It's worth every single penny, and much more. I'll be posting with a video review very soon.
