My guitar stopped working after 3 days. They are fixing this possibly universal* problem soon according to the staff at my local video game retailer. I was also told I would be able to exchange it for a working one once they get glitch-free guitars in.
*It turns out only a specific lot of explorer controllers were defective.

Downloadable Content For All! But there's a catch

Guitar Hero for Xbox 360 brings everything its PS2 counterpart had and more. There is so much content that you can rock out for hours and never get board. The game even offers downloadable content to extend your rock star experience. The only downside I see with the DLC is the price which explains the three star overall rating. Songs come in packs of three. So if there is a song you want, you have to get the other two. The price per song is what really prevents me from purchasing any downloads. At the current rate, it would take over $96 to purchase all the songs from the original game. A steep price when you can find a deal on the game its self for PS2 for under $30. Throw in a cheep guitar and you're set. If they would lower the price to a $1 a song, I wouldn't even mind the bundles. However for now, 500 MS Points is too much in my opinion and unless the price goes down, I will not be purchasing any extra songs.

This is jsut a little cooler than Boom Boom Rocket

This game is pretty awesome! lots of songs good carrer. The guitar is cool also jsut try not to hit your friend with it, it breaks quite easy.this game is defanetly worth the price. But if you dont have $90 plus shipping and tax eating a hole in your pocket. Jsut get Boom Boom Rocket from the Xboxlive arcade its like $8 it has same gameplay maybe 13 songs and 3 types difficulties and 4 modes it will keep you busy for hours!

There has been just so much hype when it comes to music games recently from Dance Dance Revolution, to the hype of sinalong games for the Playstation 2. It has been a surprise, but music games are everywhere on the next generation consoles. That has also been proven with the success of Guitar Hero. Since it came out over a year ago originally for the Playstation 2, many gamers have wanted a piece to rock out with. The sequel also scored big with gamers, but now it isn't a only Sony game anymore. With Activision bringing all the hype to the Xbox 360. The bigger question now is will more be welcomed here than it had on the PS2?

Guitar Hero for the Xbox 360 brings out the animal in any Xbox 360 owner who has ambitions to be like their rock heroes. The gameplay follows suit like it did with the Playstation 2 edition, as you strum your guitar through over 50 classic rock songs including guilty pleasures like Rock This Town by the Stray Cats, Message In A Bottle by the Police, Guns N' Roses 80's smash Sweet Child Of Mine, and Heart's Crazy On You. What seperates this one nicely though is that you can actually download songs from Xbox live and use those songs on this game as well to add to the fun. The gameplay though mainly is the same as the PS2 version, but the control is a bit easier to maintain with a improved guitar grip. The only disadvantage is that it costs much more than the PS2 bundle by about $20, which leaves some Xbox 360 fans waiting for a price drop.

All in all, Guitar Hero II works very nicely for anybody who owns a Xbox 360, and handles as a great party game. If you however own both a PS2 and a 360, you would be probably be better off with PS2 edition because it is cheaper. Still, this is a great game that is fun and challenging to play that any Xbox 360 owner would love to have in their library. Rock Out!!!

This game is sweet. Songs are awesome, with more coming as DLC to marketplace. My Fav. songs are Hangar 18, And Dead! and a whole lot more; all of them are sweet. Love this game but if I could call it a complaint, and its not RedOctane's fault, but my pinky cant reach the orange fret button!!! I have to move my whole hand to reach the orange button, but i suppose thats like a real guitar, aint it? Be prepared if you get carpel tunnel syndrome. lol. This game will keep you at it for a while, specially in the hard and expert mode. Hard is even really hard and dont want to even think about expert!. AARRGGHH. But so much fun.

what do we always say when we like a game,, it rocks..
wel, this game letterly rocks... music that makes you jump insanly in the room,,, everyone can enjoy it no matter how old or young they are..
if you're lookin for the graphics just look at the crowd and the guitarest.. you'll feel like you are one of the crowd right away.. song list is amazing and has alot of taste from hard rock, death metal and even the crazy bucket head kinda songs.. its easy to play, and challenging when it comes to how cool you rock your way through..
honestly... i bought an xbox 360 because of the game.. tho i wanted to buy a PS3... and when it comes on the PS3.. im soooo buying the console..
go for it,, trust me.. its whats goin on right now..

Great for XBox 360 owners, but horrible for those with a PS2!!

If you already own an X Box 360, then this is a must have, don't even read the rest of this. Guitar Hero 2 is one of the best games out there to date, and it's essential if you're into videogames. If you're a PS2 owner though, read on. However, what I'm frustrated about is why they always port games years after they come out. Games are starting to turn into CDs, and I don't like that. Whenever I buy a CD, I'm always scared of when and where to buy it, because I'm never sure whether 2 years later they'll release it with 2 bonus tracks, or remaster it. Now, the same thing is happening to games. People like me want to go out and buy the game when it comes out, but then they feel like an idiot a year later when they port it to another platform and add all of this new content. In short, this is a great game, but my major gripe is that for people who have bought the PS2 version for $80 when it first came out, do not luck out. If you're going to put new content into a game, then make it a sequel, that way the people without an X Box 360 also can enjoy the new features!

Fun, but know you won't learn how to play guitar

My nephew was having a great time playing this and really loves it. Unfortunately it does not teach you at all anything about playing guitar, so there is no musical educational value to it. You do develop finger coordination from using the buttons which are like frets, which may be helpful to a player. So as long as you know that going in, you should have fun.

In the time it takes to play this game, you could actually pick up a real guitar and learn to play the songs. This is game is good enough for 'posers' and people who lack the talent to improve themselves by learning to play an actual instrument.
