Grand theft auto has always been fun to me since the first version on playstation I had. This game has its ups and downs and it really gives you a challenge on some missions i've played. You can do the missions or straight up jump into the action by causing chaos. This grand theft auto adds some new features which I was suprised to see. The vehicles control alot more real time and theres alot of new additions as in Cell phones and the internet cafe. The best new feature to check out is Online, I havent got to in depth with it but what I did play was fun.
Its worth checking out if you've never played the grand theft auto series just be aware this game is rated mature. And if your a fan of the older GTA's then this is the same old stuff with new additions and a new story of Liberty City.
Amazingly Wonderful

I'm going to be brutally honest here, this is one of the best games I've had the opportunity to play in a long time. Now, I'm a huge RPG gamer and rarely buy games outside of that genre so I hold a pretty high bar for others and was not let down at all by this game.
Cautionary warning for those less informed (likely the reason they post warnings on hair dryers not to drop them in bathtubs / Darwin Awards) this game is not for children at all. There are drugs, questionable language moments, and generally obscene behavior all around. It's wonderful. :)
Enter Niko Bellic, an Eastern European thug fresh off the boat with an idealistic view of Liberty City. He quickly learns that life is not all its cracked up to be and slips back into the same mistakes he had made in the past and was trying to run away from. In general the game does glorify violence, materialism, and thug life but it also carries a strong message of defiance to them as well as you see as you progress through the story. You see love, betrayal, and the truth about the so-called wonderful life of organized crime. It's not as mindless as some in the media may try to portray as they review the game on a merely superficial level.
Pros:
1. The game loads very fast and there are very few loading screens beyond your initial loading of the game.
2. The difficulty is pretty well developed such that as the game progresses you find you have to plan out your actions more thoroughly to adjust to increased dangers.
3. It's fun to run around in the city and cause chaos even if you're ignoring the main mission.
4. Unlike Assassin's Creed (for example) the missions are all unique and each has exciting twists which help keep you on the edge of your seat.
5. The graphics and sound are amazing.
6. The in-game material such as the comedy show and television shows help make this world seem even more realistic --- I had a friend who spent a Saturday just watching the in-game TV even.
7. The multiplayer modes are fun when you get into them... (more on the cons though).
Cons:
1. The multiplayer lounge system is horrid --- the loading times to get to multiplayer are bad enough but sometimes you find yourself stuck waiting after a match is over and just generally it seems like a rushed addition to a perfect game.
2. The party mode loads you up in a fake world but it's a pain to invite people and a better interface similar to Halo's for partying would have been better (if you wanted to visit the world with your party why not just go into free play mode?).
In general the game is amazing and is worth the little it costs for such an experience. It's not a game for children and that's why it's rated mature so if you buy it for your child it's your own fault for not paying attention to the rating applied to the game.

GTA 4 is easily going to be the GAME OF THE YEAR! There is an X-factor to this game that just makes you feel as if you are not just playing a game. but you FEEL the game. The freedom to do as you like, the controls are spot on, and the most compelling storyline in the series thus far. Graphics are sharp and the music is great. The only thing that i would be able to complain about is that it takes up to much of your time to fully enjoy this game. If you have a XBOX 360 or a PS3 (and you are of age to play this game) you MUST buy this game and be overwhelmed by the MUST OWN GAME OF THE DECADE!!!
perfect game

forget about all the previous versions, because this version is just perfect. the grafix is good, but the gameplay and the storyline is very nice to the extent that you might stop playing it just because you don't want to finish the game as fast.
A bargain at $60!!!

Short 'n' sweet of it: Easily the best title so far in the Grand Theft Auto series. Fantastic Hollywood quality story and characters, with an emotional depth I've never witnessed in a video game before (there are actually some VERY tear jerking moments along the way), set in an actual LIVING, BREATHING, HUGE, virtual New York City (aka Liberty City). GTA IV is worth $60 alone just to fool around and explore the massive city and all it's nooks 'n' crannies!!! Can't wait to see what Rockstar does with the next GTA. Five Star all the way!

Many things are available to enjoy in this classic game. Simply driving around and starting mayhem in the "Alive City" is complete joy. Although making money is fun and challenging, the game lacks a reason to make such large amounts of money.

Great story, great scale, great visuals. Only downside is the steering when in a car. I know its supposed to be realistic, but I don't want to feel like I'm driving a minivan in real life every time I get behind the wheel.
Awesome time, but not for kids

This game is awesome!! I love that they have added jumping of walls and climbing. This game has a huge amount of adult content, which I think is great. But, if you don't let your kids see things like sex with hookers, drug use, and murder then I wouldn't suggest getting this game for them.
GTA IV a worthy sucessor to the series.

Guns. Drugs. Pimps. Cars. Bling. This game is everything it was promised to be and then some! Hours and hours of gameplay means you'll never be doing the same thing twice, and the extensive cast of characters make takin' out the mob more enjoyable than ever before. If you have a 360, then be sure you get this game!

GTA IV is by far the best game in the series. It will keep you busy for hours on top of hours. I highly recommend to gamers 18 years and above. Lots of vulgar language, the violence insn't as bad as a lot of other games, strip clubs, prostitutes. The whole GTA experience pretty much. I was weary of buying it because I got bored with the previous titles but I am highly pleased that I puchased GTA IV. 12 out of 10 in my book.
