GTA IV is almost everything that could be hoped for in a game. The story is worthy of the series, the graphic are great, the extras, such as playing darts, going to bars, watching TV and going to shows are incredible. The new combat system is easy to use and much improved. The only shortcomings may be that the soundtrack is not up to the Vice City or San Andreas level and the walking/running amimations seem odd. A must buy game.

I was actually thinking that this would be comparable to Saints Row, not even close. This is the most realistic game I've ever played, never had more fun playing a game. It's so hard to get side tracked and distracted on your way to a mission because there's so much to do!!!

Impossible to play

I was looking so forward to this game as it got great reviews, but be warned, unless you are a video game junkie, it is impossible to play this game. I have spent about 5 hours on it and it is impossible to make it past the 3rd mission where you have to disarm someone. No matter how much you follow the instructions, it's impossible to do. So keep that in mind, driving around is fun, but actually completing the missions is super difficult. It would be nice if they had difficulity levels. Oh well, will sell it used for what I can get...

If your 12 years old it might be good, but then the language would not be appropiate.

Waste of money and time.

All the hoopla is why it sold not because of the (so called) game!

i got this game reserved from a gamestop in febuary. when it released i was overjoyed. but when i got home popped the disc in my 360 elite which i also bought in febuary just for this game and cod4, the game started off when well. actually it just loaded the first scene then it got bad. it froze. so i rebooted the console, i got it to the first save point then it froze again. over the next 2 hours that game literally froze 19 times. i couldnt give up on it i spent 900 bucks on the console the game 3 wireless controllers a years worth of live membership and the usb wireless 360 router and cod4. i got all this for gta4. so this is where i stand right now im on my fourth copy of the game and i am having no luck with the freezing. a friend brought his copy over and it worked perfectly for hours!!! HOURS!!! and every copy i get freezes! i love the game though it is what i expected. the graphics are okay but i dont care so much as i could take out aggression through this game and have fun. what do i do with all this freezing?

I have played every Grand Theft Auto since the original on the PC way back in the 90's. This is by far the best in the series. Great cut-scenese, soundtrack, rumble features, lighting and gameplay. People are saying the drawback is the driving I think it is just more realistic the bad cars have bad handling and the good cars have good handling. It takes a while to get used to the driving aspect but once you do it is no problem. The hand to hand fighting is not that great but how often will you actualy use it when you have access to the best weapons around. The Multiplayer is one of the best I have ever seen without a doubt. The main charcter is from the Balkans my family comes from there so when he says phrases in his native tongues I know exactly what he is saying. So I guess it makes me a bit biased. All in all many pro reviewers gave it a perfect score which was mos. def. earned. Also Yes It is The Greates Game of All Time.

I was worried that I would be dissapointed with this game. The game is outstanding!! You have plenty to do in this game so that makes it so much better than the other gta games. you can bowl, play darts, go watch stand up comedy, and even go to the strip club. The multiplayer is awesome! I would compare it to the multiplayer on call of duty 4. The decision for gta to go multiplayer is awesome. There are so many different game styles you can play online and it definetely won't dissapoint you!!

I'm not going to waste time making an in-depth review, there are tons of them out there.

I'll just say, the graphics, physics, etc are absolutely amazing. The storyline itself is great. I've probably completed about 10-15 missions, and the way the game makes you feel like you're actually part of a complex and evolving plot is simply incredible.

Whether you liked past Grand Theft Auto games or not... this is a must buy.

This game is a worthy addition to the GTA franchise. While some may argue that there are things missing from the game, and it could be better, I believe that this game is definitely one of the top games in the series.

From the very opening of the game where you meet Niko coming over to LC(Liberty City) on the boat, you can tell this game is going to have a story equal to any great movie. The opening credits make you feel like you are watching just that!, a movie!! As the story progresses, it appears that the missions get a little more difficult, and the story starts picking up speed and intensity. I do believe the first bunch of missions you do are quite easy, and a bit of a cakewalk, but they start getting much more interesting.

The graphics are by far the best of the series. However, that should be expected of the game since it is the first on the next gen systems. The New York style and feel, just adds to your craving to play this game. The gameplay is somewhat better. It feels more realistic, but I don't really like the slow response, like when you try and stop, or creep up slowly. Kinda like you can't "inch" up you move by feet at a time.

One of the things that I believe they did very well was the interaction with the people of LC, the normal everday shmo's. I am a big fan of the games that give you that real feeling, so when I punch some guy in the face and we start duking it out, and some clown across the street calls the cops from his cellphone, cause you are pummeling this innocent man. I am just blown away that they have incorporated this into the game. It does get a bit bothersome as you go on, but it is still something on a level in which we have not seen yet.

The shooting, interface seems to be easier, and better, as well. Honestly, I don't remember all too well San Andreas, and that was just 3 years ago, but from what I can remember it is a much better feeling. The fighting is rather clunky. It's very hard to counter attack, and for a guy who is suppose to have been this special forces guy, that did some crazy stuff to people, the old dirty drunk hobo makes the fight pretty even. So, I would definitely like to see that improved.

Overall this game can definitely hold its own, and I believe at the top for GTA. GTA 3 comes close, but with all the new innovations, this game is just great! a definite buy.
