RPG fans (like myself) should be hopeful that this is the direction of the future as far as gaming experience goes. It is an adult story (thus the Mature rating), but the story is relatively long, and has a mostly completed feel to it in the end. Shooter aspect gives gamer something to do during the fight instead of simple "main guy attack bad dude #3" interface. Use of cover during firefight is great, AI for teammates is good (only occasional "what do you mean you can't do that" moments). Only complaint is that planet-bound side missions become repetative.
Great Story, Sorry Shooter

The games main story is overall very well thought out and made me feel that this could easily be a great movie. There are great characters interesting love stories and a very humorous and very annoying glitch (Check Stretch Armstrong glitch). My only problem with the game was its combat, while I am playing the game on veteran I find my self breezing through the combat, even while I am a level 30. I understand it only gets harder once you unlock the next difficulty level. Maybe it is just me because I am one of those gamers that jump straight into the impossible settings. Still the game is just great. Other than that one problem the game has great graphics, great story, and memorable characters with interesting side quests. If you were (are still) a fan of Oblivion: The Elder Scrolls IV, then you will find this game very entertaining.

I may be just a complete nerd but this game was great. I am on my fifth round through the game story with a third character (I'm trying to get all the achievements) but not just that, this game makes for a great replay cause you can always do things differently. though for the most part the core of the game stays the same, the rest of the game reacts to all your decisions. plus with updates to the game, one coming here in march of 2008, The game will keep expanding even further. It really is its own universe. I've always enjoyed Bioware's games and this one is on the top of my list.

Mass Effect is one of the best games I've ever played, and that includes all genres.
The storyline is exciting but nothing reallyt new. What sets ME apart is character interaction. The choices you have while interacting characters are nearly limitless. Wanna be a goody-too-shoes? Go aheas. Wanna be dark and self-centered? Why not. Be both if you want too the choices are yours and yours alone.
Getting to explore uncharted worlds and the quests they may lead to adds diversity to a genre that really needed it.

Very fun game, despite the loading pauses, the intermniable elevator rides, and the occasional conversational tedium. Options on how to complete missions (kill em all or talk it out), self-determined skill development, and intriguing characters brought out the best elemnts of FPS games and RPG games without bogging down into the less pleasing aspects of both. Highly recommended, though parents should watch out for kids. While the content certainly does not merit the controversey that surrounded the game, some of the dialogue and (optional) story material is around the PG-13 area.
Excellent game.

I was NOT disappointed with this game at all. Great system for an action/RPG, original, with lots of replay value. I highly recommend this game if you're a fan of RPGs.

I have been adicted to rpg games since I was 6 years old and played zelda on my nes... i have easily played over 40 rpg games in my life and this is the best one of them all... the game has a great plot, the choicces you have are not just good and bad but all shades of gray you can imagine, the controls are very intuitive and the fighting parts are a joy to play them (I allways tought that a fusion betwen fighting/shoter games with rpg's was the best combination). The only con. I can find is that the game feels short compared to other bioware games.
Clearly the best console RPG out there

While this is not the best RPG I have ever played - several PC games such as Planescape: Torment are superior, in my view - this is quite clearly the best console RPG on the market, and a work of art at that. While combat is not as well-executed as I would have desired, the story, dialogue, characters, graphics. sound, music and overall style of the game are almost perfect. Quality permeates this game, down the outstanding credit music (M4 Part II by the Canadian band "Faunts"). Kudos to Bioware for another masterpiece.

This game is by far one of the best games yet for the 360. It combines real time strategy with a deeply involving story. A must for KOTOR and KOTOR2 fans.

If you were expecting this to be some fun action game you might be dissappointed.A great game for people who love RPG's. There is good action but not as much as you expect. There are also many powers similar to Star Wars Kotor and many powers you can use. The Cut-Scenes are fun to play through and the making of the character is fun. Riding in the vehicle with your squad and fighting the geth is fun. Not perfect but really well made video game.
