Best game yet for the PS3!

My husband got the PS3 for Christmas and I'd been looking for a game that still had the fun aspect along with nice graphics. This game has so many different elements and all the time remains fun. I can also see it as a good game to play with the family, not overly violent.

This is the best. Better looking than Uncharted/ COD4 and a lot of non stop fun. You have so many cool weapons and when comboed together the destruction is devastating and hilarious. You also get to use the six axis controls which are integrated nicely. Best game I've played all year. This one's a definite keeper.

Awesome!!

I guess I'm just a big kid, this game is as fun and then some, as any in the series (and I've played them all). The weapons are amazing as always and upgrading them is always a blast. (Haha, get it - blast) And, believe it or the not, there is still a fun story line. Anyway, the Blu-Ray experience really adds to it all as the colors are really nicely rendered and the contrast is amazing, if you have an HDTV pick this one up it will be in your collection for a while.

(Played on Sony 60GB/ 46" Bravia XBR2/ Yamaha YSP-1100 Soundbar)

You can tell a LOT of TLC went into this game. I am not a huge fan of video games. I could not put this game down and just beat it after a week.

Great job on it and total fun. What more do you need us to say?

Polished game, a little easy even for the average gamer

I have played the past Ratchet and Clank games in the series and this one does not disappoint! It is probably the best, if not the second best game of Ratchet next to Ratchet Deadlocked. The picture is nice if you have an HDTV and the animations and frame rate is always smooth. There are plenty of guns and I ended up using about all of them at the end of the game to defeat the bosses because I would never have enough ammo, but the Magma Combuster and the Shard Reaper became useless because they sucked. Great storyline, it gave me hours of fun and amusement. You don't have to be a kid to buy this game to enjoy it. I would recommend everybody with a ps3 to get this game...

best ps3 game yet

The Ratchet and Clank series has always been a fun game, but Tools of Destruction surpasses all of them. With amazing graphics and fun gameplay, you can play this game over and over.

Buy the PS3 for this game.

I've played all the R&C games on the PS2 & this one blows it away. I have to start off by saying that everyone is right....it's like playing a Pixar movie. It'll blow your eyes right out of their sockets. After playing this all day I was exhausted because I was so intent on the visual stimulation. Kept falling off cliffs & getting bombarded by enemies...yeah, it was that good. You have to get an HDMI cable for it though if you want the full effects (plus have a port on your TV that says HDMI). The cheapest place to get these cables are right here on amazon.

The gameplay is nonstop action. There is always something to do & I was constantly hopping around, which is what we love about any great platformer! If you need more info about how to receive skill points (the hints are pretty vague in the menu screen) or where to find bolts (not all of them are located on the map), then go to gamefaqs.com.

The story line is interesting & funny without being cheesy. The ending is bitter sweet (I won't say more cause I don't want to ruin it) & I can't wait to see what they will do next.

The Sixaxis controller is not all that bad. I was frustrated at first, but after using it a few times, I got used to it, just like anything else. In fact, now I think it gives the game(s) another element. There are parts in the game where you have to use the Sixaxis in order to proceed.

The replay value is even better then the first time through. At the end of the game you can do the challenge mode. SAY YES!!! The second time around you get bolts up the wazoo (then you see the price of your new omega weapons & so much for that initial excitement!), you can go back & get things that you missed the first time around & the enemies are more challenging.

The weapons are better. It's pretty much the same idea as before, but they worked out the kinks as far as the weapons being more user friendly this time around. You get some cool new ones (along with a old favorite that you just can't live without!) & the upgrades just rock. They also made it so that there are some parts of the game where you don't think you're going to make it due to running real low on ammo. Good game tension.

One of the greatest things about this game is that it's totally kid friendly & at the same time adults love it too. There are all kinds of little nice surprises in this game. It's just a FUN game. period. So far this is the best game I've seen for the PS3. For everyone who's on the fence about buying it, don't be. I don't see how it's even possible to regret this purchase. Have a blast!!!!! I am.

Could it be any more fun?

There's so much to do in this game. The makers managed to keep adding new features to keep the game from getting repetitive. And everything is fun. From tilting the controller to break open a wall to flying around. But the best part is the platforming. The controls are dead on perfect. You wont have any trouble getting to where you want to go. The weapons are a ton of fun to use and you can't wait to see how they'll do when upgraded. And then there's the graphics. WOW! To think that this is only among the first games for the Playstation 3. Imagine what games will look like 5 years from now on it. Now is the time to invest in the PS3 because games like this make it worth the money.

Next-Gen Ratchet & Clank - Perfect Platformer for PS3

Instead of boring everyone with a long drawn out detailed review, I am going to keep it simple and not focus on relating the details of the story, as other people have done that. This game is simply a great game every PS3 owner should have in their collection.

Rating 1 - 5
1 - Terrible
2 - Below Average
3 - Average
4 - Good
5 - Great

Story/Characters - 5
Graphics - 5
Sound - 4
Playability/Controls - 4
Overall - 5

What you may like about the game:

- Next-gen Ratchet & Clank with a shiny new coat of paint (i.e. more of the same from the PS2 versions, but why mess with perfection)
- Loads of new weapons, all highly detailed with multiple upgrades
- Loads of new gadgets, with some old favorites returning
- More back story on the Lombaxes to help flesh-out Ratchet even more
- Use of Sixaxis to control glider (after some practice being subtle with your movements)
- Incredibly detailed new worlds and characters
- One of the longer PS3 games available (15 hours+ if you really explore and don't try to breeze through the game)

What you may dislike about the game:

- Load times between worlds
- Repetitive space battles that are not that fun
- The Gelatinator weapon is only available for use on a few planets.
- Clank's missions are a little trickier due to his limited movements and are not all that fun.
- No multiplayer (really a crime since the last PS2 game had it)
