This game has some of the prettiest graphics I have ever seen. It's the first good game I bought for my PS2. It's really fun..while it lasts. Yes it is a pretty short game, but it's good while it lasts. It has some replay value because it's just fun to fight the bad guys. Some of the puzzles are a little challenging, but it's not rocket science. Going into "hell" is also a trip, it took me a couple of hours before I could beat it.

Tip: Keep Japanese Language on and turn on the English Subtitles, it helps keep the import "feel"

What good games are about.

Omnimusha Warlords was the first game I had for my PS2 and when I saw the opening CG movie I was sitting on the edge of my seat, The game follows a young samurai named Samonoske who starts out from the very start of the game on a mission to save the princess from harm. But he gets more than he expects when he finds himself faced against an entire legion of demons who wish to rule the world..... In the game there are some points where you will switch between Samonoske and his female ninja freind to advance in the game which makes it even better. But I really wish people would stop comparing this game to Resident Evil the only thing they hve in common is that they both put you against unhuman enemies and that they both let you switch between a male or a female charecter, But besides that everything in Omnimusha is different the grapics are superb, the controls are so smoothe, and you get to suck your enemies soul to your hand after you kill them(isnt nearly as gruesom as it sounds) The only two flaws are that some of dialouge doesnt match with the mouth movement, and that it is a bit short for a cinematic game, but besides that Omnimusha Warlords is a great game that is worth buying!.

Onimusha: Warlords is one of the best games on the Playstation 2 Computer Entertainment System. Like any other game, it has a couple of flaws, but that's not out of the ordinary. It really warms me to see what the PS2 is actually capable of, this game has amazing graphics, smooth control, a great storyline, and to top that off all of this running at a smooth 60 fps. You could say that this game is kind of like the past Resident Evils but, in reality it's a much much better game, although being a bit short the game makes up for itself by it's amazing graphics, gameplay, and storyline. Sure it doesn't have TOO deep of a story-line but the details and gameplay really make it worth while. The main conflict of the story is a princess has been kidnapped and the hero of the game, Samanosuke (a samaruai warrior), is called in to rescue Princess Yuki. Samanosuke, brings another character with him by the name of, Kaede. During certain parts of Onimusha you will switch off between these two characters to follow out the story, much like in the past Resident Evil games. When they arive at Nobunaga's castle they find the situation is far more critical then they had ever imagined, you'll have to fight more then your basic share of zombie like demons, and demon bosses. The bosses are worthy of the word "boss" it might take you a couple of tries on some of the harder bosses closer to the end of the game if you're not a fan of the survival horror genre, but they aren't impossible to defeat. Just the way it's supposed to be. The only way Samanosuke will be powerful enough to defeat this army of demons is to equip the gauntlet of the ogres, a soul-absorbing device that fits on Samanosuke's arm. all-in-all I give Onimusha: Warlords a 5 out of 5 star rating. Once again, this is definitly one of the best games yet on PS2. Which isn't saying a whole lot considering the very low number of quality games the Playstation 2 has to offer at this time, but if you want your money's worth go get this game, I have a gut feeling that you'll be satisfied.

Very Surprised if Someone Does Not LIke This Game

What's not to like? Easy controls, fun story (though a bit cliched), beautiful graphics, puzzles, loads of stuff to trash, the list goes on and on. My one complaint is that game is rather short. If you are at all familiar with these type of games, it won't take long to get to the end. Re-play value is moderate; I haven't yet gotten tired of the thunder attack. (...)

Impressive, but not very deep

This game is very highly rated, and I expected more out of it. The graphics are pretty good, and the "cut scenes" are interesting, providing a good story line, but the game play between the cut scenes is all too short.

As with a lot of games with a mission, once the mission is completed the first time, a lot of the fun goes out of the game. This game is probably a better game to rent than to buy.

awesome game!!!!!!!!!

I think this game was the best game I've ever played in my entire life!! The game is very well thought out and the graphics are incredible! Only there are couple of problems,1, the camera angles stink,2,I want to know what's in the western path, and 3, the game is way too short, other wise it's pretty good. I've already beat the game 3 times with an A rating each time, and when I beat the game a 4th time, I 'll try out ultimate mode. I can't wait until ONIMUSHA WARLORDS 2 comes out. My favorite games are becoming Japanese samurai games at a steadily increasing rate.

Capcom once again succeeds!

Capcom has one again show that they are the best. Onimusha is above all standards.Has graphics that will make you think you are part of it.The storyline has being used in many other games such as zelda but the way this story tries to express itself it makes it seem like another story. I really think this game is worth playing. The games biggest drawback, which isnt that big but still maybe onimusha 2 improves it, Its the length you can finish the game with in 4-5 hours but the game is worth playing.

Onimusha: Warlords - Circa 2001

GOOD:
- A nicely styled samurai horror/fantasy
- An original story, based loosely on Japanese history
- Cool samurai-sword combat

BAD:
- This game is sort of showing it's age, from the Luke-warm voice acting to the controls
- Not for those who don't like survival horror games

IF IT FITS YOUR TASTE:
- A Samurai game that plays like a survival horror
- Magic and fantasy are a pretty big part of the story
- Some backtracking and "fetch the key" quest, but over all very well paced and enjoyable

GAME ITS MOST ASSOCATED TOO:
- Onimusha 2: Samurai Destiny
- Onimusha 3: Demon Siege
- Resident Evil: Code Veronica X

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
- This game is also for Xbox but it is called Gemma Onimusha
- When Capcom was first making this game there was a glitch that make enemies fly into the air after being hit (it was later fixed and taken out before release), well one day while in development the programming team for another upcoming Capom title sat in on the very early build of this game and tried it out, turns out they liked the glitch so much (the same one which the Onimusha team later removed) that they added it to there upcoming game which later turned out to be Devil May Cry

Onimusha Warlords is a gorgeous game with an interesting story line. The game engine is classic Resident Evil, but OW is set in Feudal Japan. Instead of killing Zombies you are killing demon Warlord soldiers which had been killed in a war one year earlier at the site of the castle. In place of RE's modern weapons you have three swords and three different orbs. The three orbs(fire, thunder, and wind) each create their own majic attack. You can also possess knives, a bow, and a flintlock rifle. What I really like about the game is that it gives you a reason to fight enemies. When you kill enemies they release a soul energy and you have to suck in the soul(just like soul reaver)with an Ogre Gauntlet. The energy gained from these processed souls can be used to "power up" weapons and orbs. OW is different from RE in that there is no treasure boxes ; a player keeps every item found. The graphics are the best yet on PS2 and the story is pretty cool. I love the fact that the game audio has a Japanese option. It also has English/Japanese subtitles. The only thing keeping me from giving OW 5 stars is the game's length. It is fairly short even by RE standards. It should have been 2 or more discs. And it only takes about 5-6 hours of gameplay to defeat the game. Still OW is definitely worth the money. The magic in the game has amazing effects and the medievel hacking of enemies with magical swords is awesome. Bottom Line: The game has a decent story, amazing graphics, and fun gameplay. OW is a definite Top Five PS2 game.

Shockingly good, but exceptionly short.

I found Onimusha: Warlords one of the greatest games on PS2. Fantastic graphics, good storyline, perfect controls. Everything a game needs to be successful. The game is like Resident Evil, if you take the characters, settings, and guns away you'll find out that you have the perfect match of Resident Evil. This game even made #1 on the top ten games of Playstation Magazine!

The thing that surprised me although was that the game was very short. I loved it until I came to the demon world (not going to mention anything more, sorry) and that I'd only played about an hour of the game. I was really surprised and became frustrated about it.

Except about this game being short, I thought this game was awesome and deserves to be on the top ten list. I gave it a four star rating (I would've given it a five star rating)because of it's length. Mabey, the producers will somehow decide to make a sequal or a prequel (or whatever game they want to make).

I would rent this game If I were you, and if you like it buy it, cause it's sorta a waste of money to play a game for one hour, when you could be playing Resident Evil for eight hours. So rent it first and see how it looks.
