I have been playing the PC version of this game for quite a while. The game has very immersive gameplay and is easy to fall in love with. Now, this new playstation version is even better. It has more options for designing your character and making a house suitable for your SIM. The games objective is very simple in the "Get a Life" mode. You have to get a career and learn skills to move away from your moms house and become independant. Once you beat "Get a Life", many other forms of play open. You can even play multiplayer games or play a regular game like the PC version. You basically control your Sim and trying to keep your character happy. It is extremely fun knowing that you can actually put all of your friends in the game and interact with their characters whenever you want. I highly recommend this game for fans of the original and for newbies looking for loads of fun. You can't find this much fun anywhere else. Just let your imagination run. The world is in your hands.
Awesome

this game is great. Sometimes it gets fustrating trying to keep your sim or sims happy. I love the game though because it also teaches you how to live in the real world when you get older. I also have the bustin out version.both games are great. I would recomened the sims to 12 and up. I would recomened the bustin out game to 13 and up.

The Sims alone is okay, but with the expansion packs, is better. I really like Unleashed and Vacation Expansion. There are are a lot of controls you need to get used to. There are also really good cheats. You press ctrl + shft + c to activate the box. Then try some of these...
rosebud = 1000 Simoleans
interests = displays the Sim's intrests
water_tool = let's you create water
Anyway, enjoy, and there are more cheat sites around with better ones so go for it :):)

I bought the ps2 version and it broke in about a year. it plays good until you start to save and then it freezes, although this could be natural for my ps2 cause it's a 2001 model and not be able to play blue backs very good. Gamecube version is more reliable and wll run alot smoother and load a little faster
not as good as the pc version

the graphics were good and everything looked nice but it was harder to play. Instead of using a mouse to move the cursur like on the pc version, you had to move the joystick toggle which took a lot longer to do. The game was okay, but I like the computer version way better.
Kind of addicting but...

Ever wanted to own your Sim? Control him however you want and influence things in your surroundings? Well now you can.
Story: uh, story? what story? Basically you start off at your mom's, and you're giving certain tasks, completing these will let you move out of the house into your own house, complete those tasks and move somewhere else, so on.
Gameplay: Well this well, it's rather hard to grade this. In certain situations I'll give this good marks but not for other times. For example: your sim needs to learn particular skills and in chapter 2 you need to advance the game by making him go to work happy. Sounds easy right? Well it takes a lot to keep the damn guy(or girl) happy. And let's say you're in the bath or showering or on the toilet, next thing you know your mom comes over. But you're still in the bath. By the time you get out, she's gone.
Graphics: don't expect ...graphics here, it's a very simple look but then again, that's all you need.
Music: you're gonna laugh at the Sim language. It's basically just gibberish. Music isn't bad. When your Sim dances, his wooing is quite funny.
Despite some hits in the gameplay department, this is actually an addicting game...if you can keep the bugger happy
Just ok

I'd recommend some of their newer releases of The Sims for the PS2.. this is definitely a grind in comparison... a step up in graphics from The Sims 1 on the PC, but their following releases on the PS2 are funner with an edge of humor (The Sims 2, The Sims 2 Pets, The Urbz...). Seems unfinished in general. Lack of 'style' (very plain clothes and objects to choose from). The sims are very robotic in movement. After a while of playing their 'Get a Life' mode, I found myself just trying to get the houses over with. More of a pain than fun. Not enough depth.

I love this game.
It totally tops out the game for PC.
The graphics are great and the "Get a Life" mode is awesome.
For anyone who likes controlling other people and completing goals, I recommend this.
This game offers tons of new stuff and lots of new options for your Sim.
Again, I recommend this game for pretty much anyone.
