The main thing I want the Sims on Playstation 2 for is the graphics. And about the game speed for the person who was complaining up there, don't you know that you can speed it up if you want to by pressing the R1 button? Another thing that is impressing me about this game is the fact that everything is 3D, the characters, the neighborhood, the household objects, everything. And you can create your sim with such better detail so your sim can be unique, like no other sim, unlike the PC version where there are at least 10 other sims who look exactly like yours either downtown or in the neighborhood. Game speed doesn't really effect me that much. I'd like the game to be slower so I can take in the beautiful graphics and stability of the PS2.

I must comment on the Sims because I am a huge fan of these little computerized friends. I been playing this game every since May of 2000 and I must say it has me warped. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! I donot have a PS2 but my daughter has one and I will buy this for her as she's a sim fanatic as well. Maxis keep up the good work and I know if your other series of the Sims (Living Large, House Party, Hot Date, Vacation and Unleashed)are great I know The Sims PS2 will be a success.

Popped this baby in, it was preowned and a little scratched, but good.
Ok so the first thing you should notice is the options. You can only start a career basically, later you get neighborhood thingy, but right now, im trying to beat the missions. Ok I have noticed some good and bad things.
Setting up walls is frustrating, takes a while to master, its the drag feature like in pc, cept feels extremely awkward. Putting on wallpaper is even worst, and you probably can't master it that well ever. Sometimes I think the wallpaper is on this side, then bam it appears that I just wallpapered the OTHER side of the wall? Huh? Ok so it's really poorly done with wallpaper, but on a side note, theres a big selection. The icons are a little small, but you can see the design. Quite a few things to build, not as much as the pc, but still theres alot of objects.
Characters can now be customized alot more, making it more fun to create characters. Problem? Probably it would be the thingy. You know, your energy, food, fun, etc. I had my energy and fun down, and because of this, it is extremely hard to play. I got so frustrated when I lost my job in career mode and it was "game over!". Whenever I try to raise my fun, my energy goes down like a frenzied pit bull. Then when I try to look for a better job, my character is way too depressed to do that. Then I need to get more social points, so I call someone over, they about 3 hours over and I have only raised social level a little, ok so fun is down, energy is down, im eating, peeing, sleeping, showering, then BAM I gotta go to work, and it just is too much. I wanted to tell my sim, "Shut up, stop being a baby, do some work, and try to be happy so you get promoted." The fact is, in real life you are going to have hard times, and the sims just are babys, they won't do anything unless you constantly are feeding, playing, talking, and letting them pee. I got so frustrated that I started over, this time I got farther, but again, once my stats go down, it was painful to bring them back up.
On the good side, it is like the pc in most aspects. You do things like pc, but still that stupid "needs" stuff. I like the game, I like cooperative, although the split screen is a little awkward, it is alright. Instead of being seperated through the middle, it is a diagonal slash, which is a little different for most multiplayer games on consoles.
Then there is time, the time moves extremely fast, having one minute=one second. This means, whenever I want to go to the bathroom, it takes 20 minutes. Getting into the tub takes 5 minutes, turning on the tv takes 5 minutes. It takes 20 minutes just to walk around. I honestly think there should be a "slow down idiot" option, in which the game actually makes a minute equal a few seconds.
I still enjoy living though, if you can get past the fact that your sims need constant pampering, and that you have to hold down quite a few buttons sometimes(speeding it up, looking at need bars) you can probably have fun with it. If you have the computer version, you may want to pass this one up.
Is there a such thing called "A little bit too 3d" ?

It's a fun game, but it's too 3d. And the graphics look sort of wierd. It's fun to play, but I was expecting when they said "2 players" that you actually got to play 2 players in the same house. But they're only little games you get to play. It's fun, but not as fun as the PC version.

I have just gotten the game today and i started playing it. I thought it was just a 3D version of the game with a story mode in it. I was WRONG. This Game is the best! You start out with the Get A Life Option, where you start out living with your mom, get a job, move out, get married, and have kids. There are a bunch of other new features too. You can customise your Sim to the greatest detail, like their eye color. I have all the sims and their expansion packs and the Sims Online (also a really good game) and i think that this game is the best of all of them. If you have a PlayStation 2 and love any game made by Maxis you should definetly try this one out.
You will love it.

Just got the game today! Where shall we begin? This game is almost an exact port of the pc original, but with extra goodies. First off, the graphics are better than the pc version. Everything in the game has more detail and color put into it and it looks more 3d than the pc version. The controls are set up quite nicely on the dual-shock controller too. It takes about a half-hour to get used to the controls. You start off in the "get a life" mode which is kinda like a tutorial which takes you through the control scheme and how everything operates, but unfortunately forces you to complete before you can play the normal sims mode. It took me a good 7 hours to complete! There's also 2 multiplayer modes, one of them is a co-op mode which you can play through with another person.....this was a neat edition exclusive to PS2 version of the game. The PS2 version also goes more in depth to the physical charateristics and customization of your sims. The over-all presentation of the game is pretty good. Since I only played the pc version a couple of times, I was quite pleased with the PS2 version of the game. If you already own or have played the pc version, then the PS2 version may seem like the same thing all over again. But if you have never experienced the sims & you own a PS2, then you should check this out! It's pretty coool!
AWESOME!!!!
