I still remember the first day i bought and played this wonderful game. A friend came over, we opened the package, and 5 hours later, we were still playing. The beauty of it is, we had only scratched the surface. We were playing the multi-player aspect, and we hadn't even touched the main adventure. Needless to say, Goldeneye is by far the BEST game ever, period, on any console in my opinion. The main action takes place with the one-player adventure. Each of the 12+ levels offers diverse objectives, always challenging gamers with new enemies, weapons and intensity. It also follows along extremely close with the movie, and fans of the Bond flick will definately recognize the levels in the game from the movie, with Rare going as far as basing their levels on actual blueprints of the sets from the movie. Goldeneye even offers 2 bonus levels, which are by themselves difficult and new. This by itself makes for a great game, but couple this with the multi-player aspect that offers 7+ new environments, new playable characters as well as older Bond-faithful characters like Oddjob and Jaws, and tons of programmable weapons make this a MUST-BUY for ALL N64 owners. If you have an N64, you must have this game, no ifs, ands or buts. It is the best game for the N64 bar none, and in my opinion the best game ever. Also, if you like this game, check out Syphon Filter and Metal Gear Solid for the Playstation.

years later, still good as it was

We now have games like True Crime, Gran Theft Auto 3/Vice City and James Bond: Everything or Nothing, and yet no matter how many games that come out that feature good graphics and bullet time and slow motion and all of that stuff, goldeneye still ranks at the top of my favorite all time shooter list. I mean face it. It revolutionized the way games were made. I still have my copy of goldeneye. Although i don't play it a lot anymore, that doesn't mean i don't think very highly of it. Yeah there are a lot of pretty good games out there, but goldeneye set the standard. Let goldeneye live on like the bond legacy itself.

One of the best Nintendo 64 games ever made. The graphics aren't that hot, but hey, the gameplay is outstanding. Steal tanks and explore the 007 world. Highly reccomended.

It was great in it's time, but...

Great game, but Perfect Dark is WAY better. If you really like Bond or you can find this game cheap somewhere you might want to pick it up, but if you're just looking for a good first person shooter or multiplayer game skip it and get Perfect Dark instead.

WAS A GREAT GAME!(But i`m not reviewing)

It was my First fave game EVER.

Does anyone know if its getting ported to Nintendo DS or PSP(It won`t matter i have both DS/PSP) or possibly remade for the XBox 360,since MicroSoft own Rareware games now-RARE needs to get that 007 license back off EA Games-only two of their 007 games are good(Everything Or Nothing and TWINE) but the rest are just crap, crap, crap.
The best action game on PS1:Metal Gear Solid got remade-So 007 GoldenEye should too.

If it is to be ported to PSP or DS keep it the same(the PSP version with better graphics) and add some NET play.

If it is to be REMADE(most likely and preferably XBox 360):

-Keep EVERYTHING from the original,weapons,characters,levels.

-Better graphics-new things like more faces.

-Speech w/subtitles that are removable.

-Add a couple of more weapons.

-Add some more soundtract.

-Upgraded guard etc. AI-like the guards should talk to each other(Russian accent too) more preferably be funny like talk to each other about pawn(just like MGS).

-Keep normal multi-player as good as it was but add some more stuff liek stages and stuff.

-Aside to MultiPlayer mode also include ONLINE MODE thats also good.

-Add some more missions that have original ideas-about 5-10 more would be nice.

-There you have a much better Goldeneye game-Remade for XBOX 360,anyone agree?

-Oh and add the ability to go into 3rd Person View since that is what Bond games have been using lately(still keep FPS mode)

-And about Online there should also be some extra maps(aswell as maps from the single player).

-There you would get maybe ONE of the most memorable XBox 360 games.(sadly not THE most)

The Best shooter game ever!

Ever since I purshased GOLDENEYE 007 on the old N64, I became highly addicted to it, like many other gamers around the world. I also have to thank this game as well, because it made me a hardcore James Bond fan.

This is the best first-person shooting game ever! Although dated, the detail of this game is amazing. There's over 14 levels of shooting! My favorite missions are the first level, the Silo mission, the Train mission, and the very last level.

Highly recommended game; it fuels the senses! If you like James Bond, or any type of video game, get it! Mostly all of you have.

A good time. Could be better.

I've played Doom and Quake. These games get really boring after awhile. GoldenEye is a freast look at the Doom consept. One guy trying to save the world. Although GoldenEye has made some improvements on this idea it still lacks in the sence that your running around with a gun by yourself. It takes forever to kill the enemy and takes even longer to kill yourself at times. The game requires planning and a bit of stragity. You can't kill everyone either just almost everyone. The cheat mode and multiplayer opions are a fun way to look at the game as well. So to sum it up as good as the game is and sounds is just partily correct. In truth it really is just a game witch does has realizum in only some respects.

Good. But not quite great.

You probably know already this is a game for James Bond and 007 gun lovers. If your one of those two things and don't have this game,GET IT! The World is Not Enough the game won't beat it,But Tomorrow Never Dies does.Tomorrow Never Dies the movie was mostly "James Bond Blows-up stuff",it was a good action movie but in the end had no plot. But since the movie had more action than Goldeneye the video game would do the same. That's why it beats Goldeneye the game. But if you haven't played Tomorrow Never Dies the Game yet,get Goldeneye first.

Extremely Overrated

This game is fun to play on multiplayer, but it is very unrealistic. 1.) Your weapon accuaracy is not affected by how fast you are moving, what position you are in, or what kind of weapon you are carrying. 2.) There is no element of fatigue in this game. 3.) You have no control over what weapons you take on a mission, what gadgets you take, etc. In real life an agent would plan extensively. 4.)It takes less than a second to reload. 5.)It takes many shots before you die. 6.)The enemies are stupid. They take an hour to register that you're there, get their weapon ready, and actually begin shooting with their pathetic aim. 7.) They don't have real weapon names (PP7 instead of PPK, KF7 instead of AK-74, AR33 instead of AR15, etc.). 8.)BODY armor protects your ENTIRE body. I even tried it on multiplayer. I shot the opponent in the head, yet it was their blue armor meter that was damaged, not their red health meter. 9.) There is not element of stealth in this game. You can be running at full speed and not alert the guards. Like I said, this game is fun to play on multiplayer with 3 or 4 people, but single player games get boring and dull after a while due to their repetitiveness and horrible simulation.

ALMOST flawless

Goldeneye 007 is a great game. It set the standard for N64 shooters although it DID NOT follow the storyline as well as it should have. The feeling of being James Bond infiltrating a facility in Russia gets to you wanting to play it constantly. Soon playing it constantly will get boring. There is no change in the way guards shoot, act, stand, no extra challenge except the fact that it unrealistically takes a whole round of ammo to kill a guard on a higher difficulty setting. Still, I reccomend this game to James Bond and shooter fans alike.
