I work at Toys "R" Us In Philadelphia and I have played the game. Well, the demo and I can tell you just by playing the first board is great. The boards are sharp and 3D computer designed as they come. The characters in it are as real as they can get.If you played Super Smash Brothers you'll know that Bowser is rude and mean well, He's badder then ever in this one. One of the best things in this game is that there are a few secret characters in it as well. Such as, nah, I won't tell. Don't wanna spoil it for everyone but I'll give you a hint. He was in Mario Kart 64 Think about it. And she's is his wife. Hmmmmmmm. Well, I hope you all get it. It's a great game and I give it a 5 Star. rent it if you have to but you won't wanna put the controller down. it's GREAT.

Not as Good as N64

I had high expectations that it would be great. The graphics are neat. It is "cute." But it somehow lacks the excitement of the N64 game. You don't "feel" the sensation of the speed and flying over bumps. I am not sure what makes it not as fun. The controls are also a little more difficult since you have to push the X button to use items while still holding the A button to keep going forward. (You use your thumb for both at the same time, but it isn't as easy as N64.) Also, you cannot jump.
The "Battle" games are actually better than N64.

Bought it for the kids...but.......

Ok - We finally got a Gamecube in our home and had a vote on what game to get. I'd read the reviews and thought Mario Kart: Double Dash would be a good place to start since all the kids love racing games.

Little did I realize just how addicted I would become to this game. I'm not a gamer... I don't really play any other game in fact. Just MK:DD. My kids and I like to partner up and play in the co-op mode and then there are times when they're in school that I take a little time out and just race. Oh, I'll admit... I'm also the worst player in the house, but even I can do well with practice on these tracks (there are even tracks that I'm better at than my teenagers and I'm very proud of that!) and the characters are fun.

Each character and car have their own special features. We have a lot of fun tossing objects at the other drivers.

It's just a flat out fun game. I will say that as far as a racing game goes there are more exciting/difficult ones out there (F-Zero GX comes to mind - we also have that one), but this one suits me and the overall family just great. Even if you want to get the more challenging ones get this too. There sheer joy of passing the other karts after they run over a banana peel and go spinning down the track is worth it all!

DD lived up to the mario kart reputation. its fun and i'm sure will stay that way for years like the older versions. i am still playing the original with regularity!

mario kart double dash was a little too easy to beat unfortunalty. i beat and unlocked everything within the first day and a half. also, the final thing to unlock was toad's golden Kart. i was hoping it would be something special, but its the EXACT same thing as wario's kart but with ONE extra acceleration point. not much of a special kart if you ask me.

those are all the con's... i'd still rate the game as 99/100

This game is awesome! I've had it for a week and I've played it 24/7. The characters are Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Yoshi, Birdo, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Koopa, Paratroopa, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Bowser, Baby Bowser, Wario and Waluigi. The secret characters are Toad, Toadette, King Boo, and Petey Pirahna. There is two cars for each set of characters but you have to earn the second. There are two new battle modes. Shine theft and Bob-omb battle. There are six new battle stages and sixteen new race tracks. This is a wonderful game and the bonus c.d. is awesome.

This is an amazing game. And just like its predecessors, the more players, the better it gets. At first the variety of karts may seem limited, but winning cups changes that real quick. This game is not really made for a single player, but for 2+ it is one of the best. Graphics are great, framerate is impeccable, and the attention to graphic detail is amazing. If you love racing games, or games that are "social", mario kart delivers.

I like every track on the game and I love how you get to choose who rides along with you. There are many things to do. It is tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, its a lot of fun.

We got this game for xmas and its fun. I have to get used to the controllers but after that its so fun and so is the bouns disk.

Maan this game is wanderful.It pretty much the same as all the other ones but you play with 2 characters. One drives the cart and one drives you can swich um anytime in the race and each character has his own plus like 3 stars for weight or something.And once you win a cup you get a new cart which is pretty cool.But the only bad thing is I havent raced and i dont know if there is a haunted mansion race track i always loved the haunted race tracks the best with the ghosts and stuff i hope there is one of those tracks. But this game is great and i think everyone who owns a game cube to buy it.
