I ve been playing the tw series since rome. and i was blowen away. it is an awesome game! and so is Medieval 2!!!!! The graphics are very nice a lot of detail. individual armys ,no clons!!!diffrent shields and and and...the gameplay is awesome. it has afew bugs here and there but a patch is coming and i hope they will fix it. You can spent countless hours again and agian playing this game! The only con I have is that the map though a bit nicerr than in rome has stayed the same and the intro is the same as in rome just diffrent units. But those are small things that dont disturb me!

Errors, errors and more errors

I have had errors on installing, errors on playing the campian maps and errors in battle maps. I have installed the "patches" and have the expansion pack as well...this game could have been great. I have spent a total of 20 hrs tying to fix it and it is is buggy and unplayable for any length of time. After installing new chip set drivers, new grafix card drivers and new sound card drivers, I am still 50 dollars poorer and pissed off. Do yourself a favor and dont bother buying this game. I have a top of the line gaming cpu btw...I wish I could rate it lower than one star...

can't stop playing

I just wanted to jump on and say that i can't stop playing MTW2. Aside from what can be tedious management at times this game is a blast. The battles do a great job of breaking up what would be a Civ stle micro management fest. There's really only one map, but with the option of playing nearly all of the differing factions there is still quite a bit of replay value and i haven't even touched the online multi-player yet.

Runs great on my PC as well:
AMD Athlon 4000+
Geforce 7800 256mb
1 gig memory

Bought this game the day it was released. Very fun to play especially if you enjoy battlefield strategy with up to a few thousand units engaged in real-time (I have dual processors, 512 Graphics card and 2 megs RAM). As someone else has posted in their review, it's not possible to play against human opponents in campaign games- online multi-player is limited to premade skirmishes... that's the only downside. The computer AI has been improved (with patch 1.1) and is soon to be improved yet again (with patch 1.2). There is also a large modding fanbase for this game so any mod to further improve the game you can think of is out there and available. I would recommend this game!

Damn, this game is awesome!!! I just started playing the English campaign game and its good. Theres diplomacy, war, trade, I mean you even get merchants and princesses! Theres 3D exceptional battles where you control your men and use tactical ideas that real people used before us. Theres the discovery of gunpowder, the Americas, even the death plague that stalks the land. There is also historical battles including the Battle of Agincourt and the Battle of Arsuf. All in all this is an awesome game worth buying and I can't wait for the expansion pack :D

M2TW

M2TW is an ok game. Although there are improvements from RTW, there really isn't that big of a difference. I still like RTW better.

Pros-
Graphics are pretty good.
M2TW's AI is smarter than RTW's AI.
Expanded Map
More playable nations.

Cons-
You need a graphics card to play M2TW I couldn't even play a battle with two units on the map. whereas I can run a 3500 men battle in RTW on my laptop which doesn't have a graphics card.
M2TW's AI isn't that much smarter.
M2TW is still pretty much the same as RTW but a different age.
There still isn't 3D naval combat.

It is still fun, but I would rather play RTW. That's why I'm thinking about selling M2TW. It wasn't the best game to buy.

Great Program!

Sent this to my son who is a Marine in Iraq as a christmas present. He only has a laptop and he was specific in his request for this game. He said it works great and he and his buddies enjoy playing this game when ever they get a chance. The shipping from Amazon was super fast.

Not exactly as seen on TV

I own all of the Total War series : Japan, Medieval I, Viking Invasion, Rome, Barbarian Invasion and also the newest under analisys.

I didn't saw much in the system yet, because I have already won my 1st campaign and it became boring after a while because in the hardest difficult level I had encountered trouble to be defeated ! And I know I am not the better operational leader in the field. So, I'd rather stick to Rome and Barbarian Invasion which for me are the peak of the whole series.

Excellent strategy game

Whatever you do- do not read the Med 2 TW forums.
The complainers seem to be the ones that will complain no matter what.
This game is vast in scope. It runs very well on my mid level machine. If you are a gamer- then you realize that your computer needs a good video card and 2 gigs of ram these days. If you are buying new products with on board video and 512 ram then your not going to get anywhere.

I find this game alot more interesting than Rome TW was. there are quite a few extra things to do for wealth and subterfuge. Of course the real time battles are still awesome to take charge of.

I believe a TRUE turn based strategy gamer will have no problem with this title- It's all about taking your time and keeping track of the Worlds politics- and crushing those who get in your way.

As I stated at the beginning - most of the complaints Ive read are not warranted- Ive seem people complain about getting attacked (out of the blue) from other factions- there are reasons for this-it isn't random- If they kept an eye on the Alliances and how the Papal states felt about their faction- then they would understand why things occur.
Diplomacy and political intrigue actually does work- If you know how to play the game.
over-all -worth the purchase price for me.
