BAD GAME

"Tak and the Power of JuJu" or "Power of P**P**" as my 10YO calls it, is a complete disappointment.
It's a treadmill of a game that feels more like work than play. We played for about 2 hours,patiently waiting,no hoping for something interesting to happen, but it never did. The game
is completely ordinary if not below the bar. The graphics are nothing if not mediocre. The character design was decent, but the execution in game was weak and glitchy. We also found the
cutscenes and characterization got really old after a very short time. The big problem is there is just nothing happening. In a word, "BORING". There were some decent ideas, like being able to ride the animals or be launched by the palm trees being pulled down by the monkey, but the execution left much to be desired. The camera system is bad,too much manual input was needed to keep your character on screen. There were also places, like when you jump onto thevines to swing where the camera started to spin around in nauseating fashion. The level design was uninspired, the game controls still need to be sorted. In the end this game is completely run of the mill.

Considering the barrage of advertising they have been doing on Nickelodeon,you would think the quality of the game would have been a higher priority.

If you are looking for a game for your kids I would recommend Sly Cooper, it is far superior in virtually
every judgeable aspect and it is still a game that we pick up and play tothis day.

If your kids are begging you to check it out, I would strongly advise yourent before you buy.

Terrible - slow collect fest

Warning this game will make your hands stink. Hunk of garbage - don't be duped. Basic premise, wait, wait some more collect something so you can collect something else, which allows you to wait then collect more, which opens up the possibility to you guessed it collect something else. This game is about as much fun as 52 card pick up.

There seems to a high number of positive reviews on Amazon with regard to this game. Not to question the integrity of these posts, I would strongly caution anyone thinking about the purchase of this game to rent it or at least do some research on the internet. We purchased the game and were very sorry we did not look into the game prior to purchase. We read and listended to many of the posts here and after playing firmly disagree. While not a horrible game, it is not very good either.

www.gamerankings.com is a site that has tons of reviews from different sources. Tak is reviewing medium to low.

Not great not bad. Better choices out there but not the worst game our family has ever played.

Graphics - 7.5/10
Gameplay - 5/10
Characters - 7.5/10
Sound/Music- 7/10
Fun - 5/10

The good: Fun characters, non violent, big levels, theme
The bad: Slow starter, collection based game design poorly conceived, lack of action at times, camera.

Summary: Lots of games in the past have done what this game does except better.

The opening sequence of this game is brilliant, as a parent it was really enjoyable to both me and my kids. However, we found just about everything else about the game to be less than expected. Perhaps our expectations were too high. I like that the game is non violent - but non violent should not translate to non - action. We have had the game for over a week and it was played for the first few days and that was it. My kids don't have the desire or intention of playing it again. As someone who buys very few games and tries to only buy games that will get a lot of use to justify the high cost, I would not recommend this game.

What I like about it
The graphics and sound effects are fantastic-- some of the best I've seen. You get unlimited lives and you are returned near the same spot when you die so you can jump off a cliff as many times as you want and it doesn't matter. Good humor, like when you pick up a sheep, Tak's little legs stick out from a ball of fluff and the sheep looks around like he's surprised to be up there. Sliding down the vines is pretty fun.

What I don't like
My seven year old gets kind of lost and wanders around aimlessly for hours and gets frustrated. He says he likes the game, but turns it off more often then other platform games he has. The unlimited lives takes some of the challenge out of it; you don't even need to worry about creatures biting you because it doesn't matter if you die. So you can just run through them without care. The pace is very slow and it gets a bit repetitive-- you have to whak the same little creatures, pick up the same feathers, and the scenery doesn't change much.

Overall, probably boring for most adults or older kids, and probably fun for very young kids. I would suggest you rent it before you buy just to be sure you like it.

This is a good game that could have been better.

I got a headache playing this game because of the constantly moving environment. The character should move. Not the word around him. They could take a lesson from Insomniac games makers of Ratchet & Clank. Basically this is a ok platform game.The graphics are good, (I just wish that they stood still) but sometimes the camera angles are horrible. It's hard to see where you're going at times. It has it's challenges but is not too difficult. The game is a bit short too. All in all it's a ok game but I wish I would have rented it first. I don't think that I would have bought.

This game is not that great. The only good features are the Juju powers and the fact that it's hilarious. From rams falling in love with sheep, to Lok being an idiot, to rams falling in love with Tlaloc, to making orangutans naked, to orangutans punching Tak across the face, this game's full of laughs, but that doesn't make up for the fact that it's a mediocre game.
