I just bought this game for 50 dollars and now its 20!!
Ok about the game itself, first of all if your star wars fan you will be very happy about the many planets to play on and units to play as. Theres single player, multiplayer and splitscreen. The modes in singleplayer are: Rise of the empire, Galactic conquest and Instant action. The objectives in Rise of the empire is good because it makes the gameplay less repetitive like BF1. Another new feature is space battles, which are a lot of fun. Overall the sequal is better than Battlefront 1, and you cant beat 20 bucks!
It's only an upgrade... But a great sequel Nontheless!

The first one had graphics that served as decent, and often delievered better than average battles [hence the name], since instead of having pesky out of date mission objectives, now you have one, "Kill everyone on the opposing side, or control the map in outposts"
The second game offers somewhat the same thing, but...
All in all, this was a pretty good sequel to star wars battle front, but what you knew in that game, forget about it, it won't help you here.
For starters your blaster rifle doesnt exacally go straight all the time [before it gets hot],you're no longer having to look in the corner to see your ammo, now it's in your crosshare! And finally! Grenades that actually DO act like they explode! Other than these minor additions, the graphics are different. Somewhat jerky in more than just some places, but altogether... in a word: different.
The enviornments are wonderfully superb, but your little soldier, jedi, pilot, looks just slightly worse than the first game.
With new weapons and vihcles [and some carried on from the first], plus the adition of heros and villians being used by the player, this is an exelent party game that will offer a few hours of entertainment before you start noticing just how much you wish you could get the empire to battle the republic... after that thought, the rest of the expierience is a bit, lacking.
There isn't much difference between this game and the first one. With the additoon to space battles, don't get your hopes up, it really isnt all that. Since it offers the same repedative solution everytime. The space battles are not the high point in this game, the huge open maps are [you only thought geinosis was big in the first one]. The hero/villian characters are fun to use on occasin, but since the game isn't challenging against the computer, one must embrace going up against a buddy, or just simply taking the hero villian system off line [it's just too easy with the heros or villians]. I do like the addition of runing though. That is good.
The new levels arent really all that special. In fact, after playing them all once, I was already just playing the ones from the first game, they've changed them all around, but they look familiar and make one feel safe and secure [not to mention most of the familiar levels are the big ones [endor, geinosis, kamino and so on]. With the exception of corisant, and to an extent mustifar [but it does get repedativly boring after playing it twice in a row], the rest of the levels arent really worth mentioning.
Some of the vehicles make this game's graphics very jerky. But with the addition of secondary weapons on the vehicles... one doesn't notice with so many buttons to push.
With the additiong of stats, now you can become the Gerneral you always wanted to be on the star wars front line assault. You must aqquier medals and so on for varias feats of skill [inlcuding head shots with a sniper rifle, x many kills with the blaster rifle, and even x many kills with the hand gun]. This addition was very fun and the highlight of my fun time with it.
over all, this game gets a bit boring after a while [since it never gets to hard]. Sure i'm sure it's fun the first week you play it, but once you've played all the levels, you'll find yourself magnitized to three or four of them, and then get bored with that and be creative and play the other, less entertaining levels before just putting it back on the shelf for a few days.
Not a bad buy, but beware of the 50$ price tag, it might just not be worth that much to you in the end.
I give it 4 stars for being better than the average sequel, and entertaining enough. But I wont give it another just because, I didn't like the jerky graphics in spots, and the fact that its just an upgrade to the first one.
best ever

I don't typically review videogames but I was a big fan of the first Battlefront and immediately got the second one as a Christmas gift. to say the least- I love playing this game with friends. The first one was decent in AI play but I ended up beating the game in like a day. I ended up spending most of my time playing the first battlefront with friends- doing Instant Action. First battlefront had solid gameplay, maps, and units. However I thought the game lacked some obvious features like flying aircraft (choppy and hard to do), AI was kinda retarded at times (stayed in one place or got trap into corners), ships or vehicles were too bad ass (you can go on killing sprees if you hop into one), and the biggest thing lacking was no hero game play (jedis).
So enter the second Battlefront. Immediately, the second one fills in a lot of what the first didn't have- hero gameplay, better control with flying, more maps, and a relatively smarter AI. Overall, I think the game is solid and I haven't fully tapped the potential of the game. I have yet to master flying on the space maps. I didn't have the patience to jump into the tutorials and just went ahead and did Instant Action.
Pros:
Hero gameplay is badass. I like how there is a purpose and direction in the Instant Action games. Now, you need to build up a certain amount of points by taking over bases and killing other units to earn rewards like being able to use heros.
I like how vehicles are more realistic or toned down. You can't go beserk and kill countless units on a cruiser. The overheating adds another element that balances ground forces versus vehicle forces.
The maps add better instant action. The jedi library/temple- perhaps the best map out of all them in the game is amazing. You have like four spawning points that lead into a huge room. I try to play as CIS on that map against the republic. Darth Maul rules.
The Capture the flag option in Instant Action adds so much. Playing against others- my friends and I talk a lot of trash while playing against each other on capture the flag.
Cons:
Although they addressed the aircraft problem and made it easier to navigate or fly them, they're still very hard to use. The controls aren't intuitive. It's very hard to shoot down other aircraft.
The assault mode of the Instant action gameplay is kinda lame. Playing only with heros after a while is boring. You would think with Jedis, you can attack each other and fight like in the movie. But instead, it's like a two shot fight. Heros can kill other heros in two shots. It's very hard to fight one on one for very long. It is also unfair if one of the Jedis can throw his lightsaber. One hit from the lightsaber kills any of the heros. Even if the hero is doing a lightsaber block.
The game is still limited to only two players. I was hoping they would take hint to how successful or popular Halo has become because you can play four players on one system. I don't have access to using the network option of the game.
AI is still a little misdirected and retarted at times. On the capture the flag games, neither side can effectively take the flag. Bots still get stuck into corners and infantry don't fight together but get dispersed from one another.
Takeaway: This second Battlefront is loaded with a slew of new features. It's as fun as the first one. I didn't give it the full five stars because some of the problems from the first one weren't addressed. The hero game play is awesome but not perfect. I can't wait till a third one comes out and hopefully this time, they'll have four players capability.

I bought the first game and that one for PS2 was great. Very intuitive and brining some fun things the FPS games. The second eeeeehhhhh not so much. The game can get really REAllY choppy at times and can lag pretty bad. And the space battles are raelly hard. It's not like in the first one where you could fly around for three hours. You have to get your business done and fast or risk being blown out of the sky. (which isn't bad but it can get frustration if you just start playing it) Overall i ahve to say the PC version was much better. Everything was smooth and there was none of the bugs that plagued the last version. Online play is MUCH easier to do.
In over if possible get this for the PC but if not its still a decent game to pick up.
it's cool but why is this happening.

This has cool 3D wire frame 'hologram' menus from the first game are no more and have been replaced by lame DVD-esquire background footage from the movies.
More important the Galactic Conquest mode is over complicated and the Galaxy map makes it hard to work out what's going on. You can't just pick any enemy planet to attack as before; now you have to move there in turns like is some lame board game.
