Driving Fun

If you've ever wanted to knock telephone poles, send pedestrians scattering and crash through other cars, then this is the game for you. Midtown Madness is tons of fun and you can choose from a variety of cars such as the new Volkswagen bug and a city bus. You can race in many different races such as a circuit race, a checkpoint race and a blitz race (where you race the clock instead of other cars). The best feature? The cruise mode, where you can drive around the city of Chicago free of opposing cars and ticking clocks and crash into things. Personally, I found a couple of flaws with this game. First: after playing this for awhile, the city seems very small and I got tired of it. However, this was solved when the second Midtown Madness was released :) Second: Most of the cars are "locked" and can only be unlocked when certain races are won...sort of like a reward. One problem - what about the people who are horrible at racing (namely me)? I moved on to Midtown Madness 2 with about half of the cars still locked. Hmmmmmph. However, Midtown Madness has many pros. The driving is very, very realistic and Chicago is incredibily detailed. The cars that are featured (well, the ones I could get unlocked anyway) are very good selections, ranging anywhere from a city bus to a Ford Mustang. I give this product 4 stars because, while it may have a few flaws, it is overall a very fun game which I would reccomend getting. Have fun!

i loved this game the only problem is the damage to your car does not look very real

It has been many years since I lived in that great city and it was nice to get this and see it again, albeit animated. They even have one of the buildings that I used to live at. Unfortunately I gave this game to a friend who is also from the Chicago area.

This game is awesome! Even though it is outdated for it's time it had pretty good graphics that don't get too much better. You can race different kinds of races or just cruise. When I played it I downloaded tracks and cars off the net, and it made it even better I still play it now and I've had it since it first came out. I haven't played midtown madness 2 yet but I'm sure it's just as good. it must be if they had this one to build off of and they built off of it right. I'd recomend it to anyone that likes to race or just cruise it is especially fun with a steering wheel.

I got this game when it first came out.I loved it.It is a great game that has the option of cruisng or othor races.I like to cruise.I have had this game ever since.I have gotten other games like 2 and 3 but they are not as good as this game.

personally it think the game is very fun....but its like remote contol cars. The reality of the cars performance is not real life but if you were to compare it to the game driver would beat it more more realistic damgage and more realitic performance and beter cop chases. Midtown madness is pretty much for tweaks and cars to be made but if you want a cop chasing game I recomend Driver

This game was and is my all time favorite driving game. I don't like to race, just drive around, and this game is awesome for that. You have the whole city of Chicago to go through and find hidden roads and places. This game also has cops so watch your SPEED! You can win some cool cars to by winning the tricky races. In one word, AWESOME!

Midtown Madness will not be for all tastes. Anyone expecting a realistic driving sim will be disappointed. The car physics and dynamics are awful. They all handle like radio control cars. But you soon realise that racing to finish first is not the objective - all the other competitors are slow, think snail-like. When you learn that crashing into the other cars and generally trying to screw everybody else on the road up, is the true objective, you will have countless hours of fun and keep coming back for more. Think demolition derby on an accurately modelled and beautifully drawn city.
