Drive! Drive! Crash! Crash! Whoo hoo!

You want to experience driving in the opposite direction in a highway? Do you want to beat the red light in a busy street? Do you want police cars chasing you as you dodge and turn every corner in a busy intersection. Well, then grab this game. Forget about car physics with this game though because the designers completely threw the laws of physics out the window. However, prepare to have the the best car ride ever. You drive in Chicago with a good choice of cars and a bus to boot. You can either race or just casually drive the streets of the city.

Graphics are beautiful and well-detailed. Sound is not that great though. Gameplay rocks! I mean, things you cant do in a real street you can do it here in this game and it's almost as real as it gets. AI is kinda weak. They keep hitting each other in an intersection. I hope they come out with a New York City Edition. All in all, if you're after just the adrenaline rush of driving in a city, then pick up this game. This game is best played with a Microsoft ForceFeedback steering wheel.

Yes, it's true. Midtown Madness is the best racing game ever. Racing in a city full of traffic, side streets, and people is even funner than it sounds! The graphics couldn't be better and it couldn't be any more addicting. Multiplayer is also super - RACE FOR THE GOLD! Cars including are fast and slow, big and small - VW Beatle, Truck, Bus, and real racing car... you are only "1-click" away from your most exciting commute.

This game is awesome! The controls are great and are different for each vehicle. The graphics are excellent. The sound is even better. The gameplay is great. It is such a simple concept, yet is a lot of fun and can go a long way. Two tips for new buyers. First, if you do the complete installation and the game doesn't work, uninstall it, and then do a typical installation. The game performance isn't effected at all. Also, for people who want more cars. Go to the community link on the Midtown Madness website. Then, click on Midtown Motors UK, which should be at the top. They have over 80 different cars, and are always creating new ones and improving the old ones. Overall, this game is very addicting, so I ask you to do one thing. STOP READING AND GO BUY MIDTOWN MADNESS!

This is the way to see Chicago

This game is so much fun. Driving the streets and highways you can listen to your cds and jam along with the music. This adds a very customized effect to your gaming experience. Not to mention all of the easter eggs. This game is like the Faberge of Easter Eggs. Hidden parking lots for example or malls that you can drive through after the glass breaks upon your entrance.

The effects are very nice also. Night time looks good (head lights just shine), there are reflections in the vehicles and tail lights and reverse lights work nicely. It only gets 4 out of 5 and not 5 out of 5 because it is a little difficult to unlock cars like the police cruiser or fast back mustang. The city bus is fun to drive. And it would be nice to be able to run an instant replay or get multiple views from a "spot plane" view type scenario.

I like to listen to Fleetwood Mac and drive around Chicago at night with few police and little traffic around. I did find it hard to change the volume of my cds when driving however. So i guess the game is not perfect. And with my new Nvidia video card the patch for this game on the microsoft web page was essential or the game did not run properly at all.

Sites to see in Midtown Madness:

John Hancock Building, Wrigley Building, Navy Pier, Mc Cormick Place, Buckingham Fountian, Art Institute, Sears Tower, Adler Planeterium, Field Museum, Dearborn Station, Shedd Aquarium.

This game is fantastic, and not to expensive. It has excellent great looking graphics, which are better than the game driver. Choose from different vehicles, choose whether you want more cops or less, the weather, and how much traffic on the road. It is great for just taking a drive on the road,i love it. Or great for just a spin.

An awesome experience

My brother and I got hooked on Midtown Madness years ago, when my dad let us test his client's new computer. Granted, we did little more than test Midtown Madness.

Someone once asked me what I do when I need "emotional refuge." Answer: play Midtown Madness. Yes, of course that's crazy, but it's true. Caroming down the streets of Chicago is incredibly cathartic and always a fresh experience.

The city is vast (but not vast enough, of course), with many shortcuts and "break-throughs," like driving through the glass walls of the mall. The race modes include Cruise mode (ram down the traffic, or empty the city completely, if you so desire...), Checkpoint, Blitz, and Circuit. Also, there is a multiplayer mode, but I've never explored that, so I won't comment on it.

Having played Midtown Madness and Midtown Madness 2, I honestly prefer the former. Granted, there are far too few cars, and they're difficult (but not impossible) to control with the keyboard (my brother took the joystick with him when he moved out...). Perhaps it's because I was baptized by MM1, I don't know, but it simply is the first, the best.

I was going to give this game 4 stars because of the few cars, but then I remembered the well-done graphics and the days on days I've spent playing this game. So I gave it an extra half-star for that.

And I always round UP. So, *****/***** Good Stuff!!

FANTASTIC

This game, believe it or not, is better than MIDTOWN2 which supposed to be even more exciting than this! Midtown2 hasn't got realism nor excitement, but this game has both, although is not the newer version! The cars are perfectly detailed with their real average speed meter and control! The pedestrians in the game are sometimes business men, or tourists. They walk around streets and cross the road sometimes, just like REAL LIFE! And when you think you can kill them, they jump away from you! Midtown madness also downloaded meigs field airport with planes landing and taking off! And when speeding up your car, the cops follow you. You can sometimes get away from the cops as quickly as you can and not let them track you! You could also make the cops crash into other cars! All of this is part of the realism and excitement in the game! The other part also includes traffic lights! If you're interested into cruising around and obeying the law, one way of proving that, is to stop your car running while there's a red light! Also, you could always control life at Chicago! Before you cruise in chicago, go to the main menu and there you can change the population and traffic in the game! You can reduce the pedistrian density and the traffic density aswell. And don't forget, you could also reduce the cop density aswell! Proving this game could get more realistic, you could put in city sounds instead of music while driving! Or you could increase the detail in the game by going to the graphics option! Do not even forget, every time you cruise around, the music changes! And that my friends would not make you bored! When you're tired of cruising around, you could always win races to unlock special cars! Or you could also go to multiplayer and play cops v.s robbers match! I could go on and on but i'd better leave you here! And remember, it's up to you to buy this game! But my advice is to buy it!

This Game Is Really Great!

Thsi game is my favorite racer of all time, you can just cruise the streets and go and do whatever you want, cruise the highway backwords, get chased by police, jump over bridges, anything! And if that gets old (which it Won't) you can play against other players online which is even funner! This is really great and i recommend it to anyone!

Disappointing on many levels

First let me say this: the game will be wonderful fun for about 2 hours after that you may never play it again. Once youve crashed your car ever way, explored every near identical street, and won as many races as you have the tolerance for you may never play this game again. Not only does it have only 10 or so cars (compared to the hundreds of cars offered by other games) but they are modeled unrealistically and unconvincingly. As well as that the city of Chicago itself is modelled poorly especially considering they could have done it so well with the disc space alloted. Think of it as Chicago on a 1/4 scale, both in size and authenticity. The could have done so much with this game but it ended up as so little.
