Wonderful Game!

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 1 / 4

I would have given this game 5 stars if it wasn't for having to unlock some of the cars by winning certain races. Otherwise it's the greatest game on the Planet! Since I only have a double speed CD-ROM I was a little worried since a quad speed drive was reccomended but It runs fine anyway. I've played it so much that I'm surprised that I haven't picked up the race announcer's Chicago accent! I am already waiting to order Midtown Madness 2 which will be availble in October and include the cities of London and San Francisco.

This is a pretty nifty little peice of software, espcially since that the graphics are so good, for the price anyway. To me the driving realistic enough to make you think that it's real, but not so unrealistic that you think that your driving on air through a stack of concreate blocks and moving plastic ones with no windows or headlights. The only complaint I have is that it gets pretty old after a while. I've had it for about two or three years and I have gotten tired of it. It'll keep you entertained for about two years, though.

Fun game

I played this game at my friends house one time. And i liked it so much i decided to buy it. Its a fun game, but the only problem is that when your car gets damaged it doesn't look real. It also runs slow sometimes. But besides that i enjoy this game.

Boring

This game is so well designed and executed it would keep a rocket scientist occupied for hours. Bill Gates deserves the Medal Of Honor. They sell great software and hardware. On top of that they busted Janet Reno's bogus case. YEAH!! Anyway, out here in the ignorant backwater towns of San Francisco and Oakland where I live, many people actually drive like that because thay are infuriated that Gore lost the election, despite the efforts of his sidekick, the son of the mayor of the Windy City. To all you people in Chicago you live in a great city.

It's about what you'd expect

You drive, you turn left, you turn right, the cops chase you... that's about it. It is pretty interesting if you live in or have visited Chicago, otherwise it's just another city. Considering that it's the only terrain you get -- Chicago's streets -- it's pretty limiting. But at this price it's worth it if you like driving games. The graphics are great (check out Microsoft's Monster Truck Madness too!), though there is only so much they could do with the sound of going down yet another city street. I'd recommend the game largely because you get a pretty good game for a pretty low price.

great game best game idea ever!

I have never seen such an idea in my life! I like other people will have an idea and say to ourselves, that would make a great game, but this time someone had an idea and let it out to microsolft and they added top of the line sound and grafics. T This is the best racing simulation I have ever seen! I downloaded the trial version first and I loved it. Thats what made buying the full version even better because it is like adding on to a great game! I say look no more, buy this game!

Wonderful product-hope to see more like it

Midtown Madness is one of those few computer games which you buy and just cannot stop playing. Others get boring, but with MM, the fun remains. The only real competitors this game has are NFS V and Driver. It beats both hands down. I am a driving sim addict-those are the only computer games I play most of the time. Due to this, I have played literally hundreds of driving games, including the computer and PS versions of NFS V and Driver. For a computer game to beat a PS game (I use a keyboard for my computer; no joystick or steering wheel) is *very* rare, but MM achieves this with not a competitor even coming close to it's realism, stability and sheer fun. MM gives you a whole city to drive in-no limits to where you can go, no wrong way, no out of bounds... other games give you 10 or 11 tracks. MM gives you a whole city-and with MM2, they gave you 2! NFS V loses out here. MM has only a few cars (in MM2, they added more) but even with those, the realism of their handling, bumps, engine trouble, noises, damage... is wonderful. Both NFS V and Driver's graphics are better than this, but Driver only gives you one car, so... And besides, you can always download other cars. The competition in MM races is fierce, with the competitors using their cars against your weak points, fishtailing you, bashing you up, cutting you off... The only thing is that the police are *really*, *really* dumb-even the ones in Driver are better Overall, this game passes with flying colours in other fields, but the big test is stability. On my P-III 550 with 64 MB, the game flew, with no crashes and no dropped scenes. On my P-II 450 laptop with 32 MB, the game was only a little worse, with a few pauses and dropped scenes, but nothing major. Compare this to NFS V on the laptop, which crashed the system every time I started it, and Driver, which would freeze after about 1 hour, and the results look good. So, my verdict would be 9.5 on 10, but I gave it a 5 star rating, because there is no option for halves or quarters. I say buy it; I have had it for 6 months and am *very* happy.
