walking around, knowing your in a monster robot that can crush a military tank like it's made of plastic, including awesome weapons and graphics, makes this game AWESOME! you can pilot small Mechs, such as the Shadow Cat, which aren't very powerful but are fast, or you can pilot huge, lumbering, powerful Mechs, such as the Atlas and Daishi, with awesome firepower. However, the characters in the main story ARE a little bit annoying. The main character talks like a senseless weirdo. "Please. Go ahead." "Yes, of course." Duuhhhhhhhh. Not as annoying is the computer voice that always says, "Target destroyed." You get used to him after awhile.
The weapons totally rock. There's long range missiles, long tom artillery, lasers, LBX's,(which are like a series of shells), gauss rifles, ppc's, (my favorite beam weapons), which are lightning bolts that make your screen all wobbly and shaky when you get hit by them, and lots of others. one of the best primary weapons is when you combine clan machine guns and pulse lasers into one weapon.
some weapons, like the NARC beacon, flare, autocannon, flamer, and short range missile, kind of stink
well, anyway, all this to say........Mech Warrior 4 ROCKS!!!
Microsoft put the fun of 'Virtuality' into FASA's Battletech

Microsoft's stab at the "heavy mech" market is a hit. Mechwarrior 4 goes back to the roots of the Battletech universe: Create an imersive world full of technological marvels and the public will go nuts. And go nuts they have. Multiplayer games on the Zone are packed full of players young and old alike. In fact, it's the Multiplay aspect of Mechwarrior that is the game's biggest draw, and Microsoft put together the perfect team in place for this.
Mechwarrior 4's technical team consisted of the same developers who brought you the Virtual Reality "Tesla" pods that are seen in Battletech centers all across the country. (You can usually find one at your nearest Dave & Busters location.) These pods are full-sized cockpits complete with multiple screens, big booming sound, and excellent multiplayer capability. Microsoft's version comes the closest to this experience than any of the previous titles.
Battletech purists will argue that many of the features of the original game are lost, however the changes that Microsoft has made will make for a quicker-paced game with a longer shelf life.
Fantastic - Awesome Tactical Depth!

Gone are the days when players stock up on one weapon type, and lay the smackdown on others by simply shooting a few times. Now, you actually have to THINK. Use superior tactics to win a battle, not necessarily superior weapons. An extremely intuitive Mech Lab allows you to customize your 40-foot 'Mech with almost any combonation of Ballistic, laser, missle, and other weapon types.
Couple that with beautiful, smooth, realistic graphics and extraordinarily accurate physics, and what do you get? Ladies and gentlemen- I give you *du du daaaah* MechWarrior 4: Vengeance. This game really deserves the 5-star rating I've given it. Kudos to Microsoft for making such a deep and engrosing tactical simulation.

This game is sweet with a forcefeedback joystick. Its classic Mechwarrior fighting, and the multiplayer is excellent. The downside is, the campaign is really really bad. Everyone in the storyline is a wuss, and you will learn to hate each and every charactar. The campaign is not true to mechwarriar and it gets just plain old annoying. Still the game is fun, and the graphics are excellent. Probably not a good idea on a slow machine! Overall, excellent game, horrible storyline. Good hunting!

This game's graphics are awesome. They're some of the best I have seen. But the "con" too that is the system requirments to run it, I have a P3 650 MHZ with a Voodoo 3 2000 PCI and 128 SDRAM even with that I could only run at medium graphics. The story line is alright, revenge and vengence is good enough for me. The controls are easy to remember to that makes the game easier to learn. Overall I give it 4 stars due to the system requirments.

This game is da bomb. It is the best mechwarrior game so far. even though it's pricy, it's worth the cost. The graphics are excellent and the gameplay is great. The only con I have for this game is that it is a huge game and takes up a lot of memory. This game is da bomb!
Fails to Run on Non-Administrator Accounts

Warning: This program, like many other recent games (form Microsoft and others), will ONLY run on an account that has administrator privileges on Windows XP or 2000. That means that in most common home settings, school settings, or in public facilities with shared computers most users will not be able to play this game. If you have configured your home PC, for example, so that only you can perform potentially damaging administrative operations and have protected it from accidental damage by your kids by giving them "limited" accounts (a recommended "best practice" you should certainly be following), your kids will not be able to play this game. Similarly, if you have configured computers in a school in the obvious way, with only certain staff given administrative access and all others limited to "user-level" access, then only the administrators will be able to play the game.
Note that although I agree with the general consensus that Mech Warrior 4 is a fun game, my feeling is that it this limitation is a fatal one that should have been noted on the box (it is not) and thus I cannot give this product more than a single star, because it simply does not work in scenarios that it should be expected to work, and there are no warnings to this effect anywhere on the box or in the documentation.

Having played all the Mechwarrior titles and am a loyal follower of the Battletech universe, Mechwarrior 4 is a welcome addition. This title draws you in and gives you the feel of actually driving one of these awsome Mechs. Finally using jump jets is not as simple as pressing a key on your keyboard, and you now have to watch were you step or risk falling. All these new elements add welcome traits to the game. New Mechs, great graphics, and a well devloped story line makes this my favorite title yet. This is a must have for all Mechwarrior fans, both green and elite fans of the Mechwarrior games walk away happy. Pluse the mulit-player action is great. See you on the battlefield.

Before I begin my praise, there's actually one major setback in comparison with MW 3: The controls are a wee bit to "arcade" like, e.g. imprecise. You can't cripple your enemy by blowing off arms or legs, that's not so good either. Now, that's all I have to critizise. All in all, this game is just amazing! As a great fan of MW3, I do greatly appreciate the better Multiplayer part- playing with just one single lance and without any "bots" in the third part was a little annoying. If you don't have a DSL Flat, get one! You'll want to play this on the net until you fall into deep torpor... ;)
I . . . Can't believe it.

This game disappointed me. I was psyched up for something really sweet after MW-3, and instead, I got this arcade-like game. So here's my list...
Pro: (1) Remarkable graphics - Heh, MW3 was a bit ... messed up in places. (2) Short control-learning time - good for newbies, but I really miss some of the functionality of the old system.
Con: (1) Controls are imprecise - and don't even think of using a force feedback joystick... (2) For the life of me, I can't disable limbs. (3) The storyline isn't well thought out. For example; lessor techs come by and give you basic info. If some sub-ranking tech talked to a superiour like that, they'd be dead (in the series). (4) Networked play just isn't as much fun for me with this version - I think primarily because of the second "Con". (5) Eats processors alive. MW3 could run - albiet at a low resolution - on a Pentium 166. MW4 has trouble on my low end system even at low resolutions. (Pentium 3, 600MHz, Voodoo 3)...
