Worst Game Ever written. Does not deserve the name "software".

This game is the webster's definition of garbage. The gameplay is an absolute joke. Set your suit to maximum armor, and shoot. Um, sorry but Red Faction has a better plot and multiplayer. I am not kidding. I can't pay someone enough to take this s^^% off my hands. Avoid at all costs, and it costs to play this game too. This brought my top-of-the-line machine with 2 gigs of DDR2 1000, and a core 2 duo e6600 to about 1/4 FPS at max settings with an overclocked/unlocked 8600 GTS. Fraps read zero, i had to count the frames. Turning things down to low at 800x600 got me up into the 30's again, except when explosions or cutscenes took place.

Like a pretty but brainless date

Alienware System
AMD X2 6400
4 gig RAM
2X 8800GTX NVIDA cards SLI

Pluses:

Visually stunning in the beginning areas- there were a few moments that I HAD to show to whoever was around at the time.

Suit concept is good. would have liked to been able to upgrade it.

Minuses:

The games got very tedious around the "Core" level. Many of the aliens looked like extras from the Matrix. The floating elements of the game were dull dull dull.

After the core level, a lot of it is run and gun. You need a lot of luck to get through some of the areas considering you can be killed with a single shot in many cases. After the 9th load- it's not challenging boys- its freaking annoying. F5 was my very good friend.

I really loved Farcry, but this falls very short of that mark. It starts strongly, but I'd have to agree with the reviewer who wrote that it seemed rushed towards the end. I had a LOT of clipping problems as well.

And HEY CRYTEK- how about a language filter? I had to make absolutely sure my kids were no where in earshot.

Also, what gives with the weapons? I have a supersuit that allows me huge strength, but I can't carry more than 2 rifles at a time?

So yes- like my title says- the pretty but brainless date. Nice to look at, but won't keep your interest.

Ah well- onto Bioshock.

Money well spent????

Couldn't wait to get this game after the blast I had with Far Cry,one of my favorite games.I have a Dell 8400 with plenty of ram etc and a Radeon 256 card that I added a little over a year ago.I got the game home and it wouldn't run because of the card, couldn't return the game,Curcuit city will only swap it.Installed Nvidia card,$130,the game now plays and it reminds me of a Far Cry add on,nothing all that wonderful, just ok.I have always stayed away from Playstation,Xbox etc because I alway have thought the grapics are better. Now for this game I'm into $180 and maybe should have considered WII or a Playstation.OH I almost forgot I running Windows XP and Vista is really what I need to fully enjoy Crysis.I'll keep the Dell for awhile and maybe Santa will put a WII under the tree for me.Buyer beware as other reviews have warned,is this game worth the upgrade or maybe even a new PC to play this game or the other new shooters on the horizon.I'm loosing faith in PC games that are supposed to blow us all away and really don't deliver anything we haven't already seen or played.

Ahead of its time but...

Crysis (technically) is a visionary game and I'm sure when everyone catches up with the technical requirements in about 3-4 years history will judge it more leniently. For now, to publish a game that plays like garbage on what are considered (even now) to be good PCS shows a hubris that deserves criticism.
You have to cater to your audience and dangling awesome graphics in front of the buying public as a selling point is just plain dishonest when you know that very few will be able to realize them.
In point of fact you are selling a demo as the real thing.

What a Disapointment

Do Not buy this game it will bring you pc to a stand still. It doesnt even compare to Far Cry. The game play is terrible The graphics would be ok if you had some super computor to run it on The hype on this game was unbelievable. I played the game twice then went right back to COD4 and Battlefield. I just dont know if any kind of patch could make this game better. If you own the game good luck

Disapointing

Crysis is billed as "from the makers of Farcry". Ubisoft, the Farcry developer, is not involved, so don't expect it to be a follow-up of Farcry.

Many bugs, some tedious section, not what I expected from all of the hype (that's my fault I guess). I liked Farcry better.

WAY OVER RATED

I was VERY dissapointed when I played this game. So much hype over this fps and it was no where near what they said it would be. Do yourself a favor and buy a used version of the game if you must. A much better FPS would be call of duty 4. Maybe if I was a young teenager and I enjoyed games such as halo then I might have liked crysis a bit more. But if you want great graphics and gameplay ( realistic ) go with COD 4 not crysis.
Such a dissapointment.

How do you fix it

Crytek HITS ANOTHER HOMERUN

FAR CRY was one of the best FPS games ever sold. It created such a following that can only be compared to that of UNREAL and the original HALF-LIFE. CRYTEK, the developer of both FAR CRY and CRYSIS, clearly did not rest on its laurels. CRYSIS is an *EVEN BETTER GAME* in many aspects.
And topping FAR CRY is NOT an easy task...

Graphically the game is GORGEOUS! (Both DX10 and DX9 compatible). Moving in the jungle is just unbelievable: the natural foliage, the game of light and shadow, the clear flowing water...The weapons are exceptionally well designed (familiar shapes but mostly futuristic) and their muzzle flashes add to the game realism. Replenishing your ammo is almost never a problem, provided you are frugal with your sniper bullets. A nice cross-genre touch: most weapons are enhanceable with targeting-lasers, sniper-sights and silencers.
The "weapon" you will enjoy more is, of course, the nanite-muscle-suit, a kind of augmenting exoskeleton that serves as both armor and turning you into a super-human. Throwing your enemies over the tree tops can be really fun - and their limp movements and shouted insults are totally realistic! Speaking of realism, wait to reach the zero-gravity levels: the weapons' kick will propel you backwards - as it should!
And, importantly, CRYSIS is much more graphically stable than, say, FEAR-PERSEUS MANDATE or BIOSHOCK, although graphically clearly superior.

The sound has also been well worked on. There are a number of moments where sound clues are the warning you will get. The sound of an enemy crawling towards you is not a good omen...So get rid of those old headphones and plug in a good set of speakers.

The levels are beautifully designed and the AI PHENOMENAL! I had a group of enemies flank me as I was engaged with their comrade who was left as bait! Shoot an enemy from cover only to watch him seek cover as well - until he or one of his comrades spot your position!
Overall, the gameplay controls is very similar to that of FAR CRY (and most FPS nowadays). I do have to point out that movement is precise and effective. Running is fast whereas crouching is stealthy. For longer distances, vehicles become available.
The game also sports a multiplayer - although it may require seriously lowering the video specs to avoid lagging.

That is the main problem with CRYSIS: it is excessively demanding in hardware! Short of an expensive uber-computer one will not experience the full potential of the game without glitches. When VALVE can do miracles even with 2004 computers, this is poor workmanship, and it cost them a star.

Now, this game (being an EA release) sports ...SecuROM. Usually I subtract at least two stars from games burdening us with such dangerous security routines. However, I liked the game so much I felt torn - and decided to make a more generous exception. So, if you are boycotting SecuROM games, be warned, otherwise:

RECOMMENDED!

I started playing "video games" in '89. This is the best "shooter" yet. I don't like fighting Aliens but the war in the jungle against the North Koreans is breathtaking. Expect some gliches use only top notched equipment and be prepared to sell off your old games on e-bay.
