DVD Drive Issues

There seems to be an issue with my disk which causes my DVD drive to make horrendous clicking noises when the Crysis disk is inserted. Other disks do not cause this problem, and I exchanged my original disk for a new one that still causes the noise.
I've looked around online and this problem does not seem to be uncommon, nor does it seem to be limited to any one particular brand of DVD drive. The game still runs fine, but I've seen reports of people claiming that the disk broke their DVD drive, which makes me more than a little apprehensive every time I put the disk in.
Edit: After some research I discovered that the problem is that the SecuROM DRM that EA uses is incompatible with a lot of DVD drives. A lot of drive manufacturers have firmware updates though that will solve this. So if you're experiencing problems check your drive manufacturer's website for updates to your hardware. My review stays at 3 stars though, since this would not be a problem at all if EA wasn't so intent on locking down the content that their customers have legitimately purchased.
Also, I want to vent a little bit about the fact that their is no option to customize the controls if you're using a gamepad. I realize that there aren't many people that play this way, but since EA took the steps to enable gamepad support, it would not have been difficult at all to include customization option.
Absolutely fantastic game

I must have played this game all the way through at least eight times thus far, and IMO, it is one of the best games ever i have played, and i got tons of games including all the latest out today.
What strikes me as odd is all the naysayers who complain that the game has flaws. or they cannot run the game with thier highest end machines well enough. My rig has a AM2 5600 CPU, 2GB Crutial DR800 ram and only a 7600GT video card. Thats right.., and play it on medium settings with only a couple at lower settings, and it plays at pretty high framerates, in 90 percent of the game. I have no glitches of note , or at least not enough to bother compaining about. The game is the most gorgeous game i've played to date. COD 4 is good but diff. type graphics for those who want to compare this or that.
What I want ot tell those who have Nvidia graphics cards is, go into 3D settings and tweak the panel listings some and see if that helps. It sure did for me. Also, replay the game a few times and then make your assessments. each time for me it plays better and better, and seems to look sweeter to me. DO NOT apply any of the patches out. They are junk.

Pros: As first person shooters go, it does some new stuff that greatly adds to gameplay. The cloaking gives you the ability to shoot a guy from five feet away, immediately cloak, and hear his buddy scream "where he go?!" That's just fun. As for general gameplay, the missions are kind of run of the mill. Rather than using special ops for special ops missions, they sometimes have you giving assistance to conventional forces. An infantry squad can't get in to destroy AA guns? Call in naval guns or something--don't waste a specops guy with a million dollars of training and a million dollar nanosuit for something that ho-hum.
Cons: The story is ok in a general sense, but the dialogue is VERY weak. Makes the characters in Predator seem real...which is aquite a stretch.
Also, I see a lot of folks complaining about the system requirements to run this game with all bells and whistles. Would they prefer a game with blocky 16 bit graphics like a 1985 Nintendo Entertainment System? This game will look beautiful in two years, not just today. If anything, the producer should get bonus points for upping the graphics.

I just finished this game and felt compelled to leave feedback.
This game starts off very good. That is if you are a Far Cry fan, you will very much like the first half of this game as it feels like a sequel. However, unlike Far Cry, this game is devoid of humor. It has better graphics and physics than Fry Cry, but that is to be expected given that Fry Cry is a few years old.
The second half of this game involves aliens and the game play really goes to hell. At the final sequence bugs in the game prevent a weapon from "locking on", so the game can't be finished. The solution is to re-load an earlier save and try again.
This is the first of next generation pc games. Buy it and upgrade your pc if you have to.

Those complaining about this game running terrible on their system should upgrade their pc. It's time for pc gaming to move forward to the next generation of graphics and this game is the beginning plus it's pretty fun. PS3 and Xbox 360 cannot run this game. They are to slow and not powerful enough. They will have to wait till next generation in order to run games like this. PC gamers have it now! So what are you waiting for? You should be happy and pc hardware isn't that expensive anymore. Go to Newegg, Hardocp, Anandtech, Extremetech for your pc info.
Will get even better reviews in the future...

...when the system requirements become commonplace. Still, even today, I don't have problems with graphics when I stay away from Very High. Anyone who has the recommended system requirements should be able to get to Medium on this (with little or no antialiasing). Eventually, you can personalize your settings for your system, which is extremely easy to do with the game's drop down menus. I originally had every single setting on Medium, but I then decided to put two on High and one on Low. I found High detail textures and shaders looked better than Medium and didn't tax the hardware too much, but putting Shadow detail on Low was an absolute necessity. Taking the extra time to experiment and come up with these settings has given me great performance stability and marvelous graphics.
This game has the usual plusses people list for a good first person shooter. The weapons are quite good, for one thing. They feel realistic and can be modified with various scopes and attachments. The nanosuit powers are useful, and take some getting used to to use effectively. The extra strength running punch combo is downright frightening if you master it.
The single-player is a step forward for this genre. You get various missions and objectives through a comlink, and basically it's just you and your map. The levels are open ended and it's a different feeling to not be stuck in a corridor maze. You always have to be looking around because the enemy is very good at sneaking up and surrounding you. It's tough to over power them with force alone and it helps to look for strategic positions and passages to help you accomplish mission goals. I've played every level four or five times and am still finding new useful areas.
I recommend this game highly, but the biggest reason for the three star review is the following. I just found the single player to be kind of short. For this much money they should have added at least one other level. For many people, the multiplayer will make up for the length. Still, I was surprised that there were only two modes to choose from, "Slayer" and "Power Struggle." I'll bet the developers must have thought, "It's either CTF or Power Struggle, so Power Struggle it is." Also, from playing through other similar games I'm used to looking for options to play as a pacifist, but I guess games like that are just history. Despite its short length and limited multiplayer, Crysis is a worthy buy for FPS enthusiasts with the right kind of hardware.
One of the BEST FPS of all time! Love it baby!

Overall the controls are a little sloppy. My main annoyance is you can't switch suit modes as seamlessly as in the the video.
