Filled with bugs and glitches that spoil the game.

While the game boasts one of the greatest rosters ever put in a wrestling game, the bugs and glitches ruin this game. While Acclaim's idea was a good one, they deliver a game that feels more like an unfinished demo.

GOOD IDEA BAD PRODUCT

the idea of having all these legends is great..but acclaim really did a bad job..first game play is very slow..theres alot of gilnches..its not good..dont expect wwe smackdwon quality or gameplay...maybe THQ should make a game like this...rent this game but dont buy it...LOW and LOW2 were also bad games and i thought they wouldve improved this one but they didnt..i only give this game 1 star because the idea is good but the final product is bad

I have but one question. How can you have a wrestling game entitled "Legends of Wrestling" without the single biggest name in the history of the business? I mean don't get me wrong, Sting is awesome, as well as Andre The Giant, Jake Roberts, and Jerry Lawler among others but there's no Ric Flair? I haven't played this newest version of this game but I did play Legends Of Wrestling 1 & 2 and they were both horrible in terms of gameplay. I notice that for every one of these "Legends" games they always put Hulk Hogan on the front of the box in hopes to get more sales I guess. I'll buy one of these games when the "Nature Boy" himself is on the cover in one of his feathery robes giving us a big "WOOOOOOOO!!!"

THQ STILL IS THE CHAMP

I tried to like this game but no dice. I kept on comparing it to the much better SmackDown
title by THQ.The controls were lame, the wrestlers seem to be punching rather then wrestling.
During a match After about the 4th or 5th bunch they bleed already. The wrestler seem small
compared to SmackDown.Look I have been a wrestling fan for about 20 years now and
This game really disappointed me. The reason I gave any stars is because of the roster of
Wrestlers it has.My advice save the $$ for SmackDown vs Raw by THQ the real authority
on wrestling games.

Another dissapointment

They Just don't get it! In the 3rd Installment of the "Legends of Wrestling" franchise, this title fails to even be better than the first! The so called "Ready to Brawl" controls are sticky and confusing while the Camara angles don't help any. Theses are three major elements that prevent the gameplay of the title from flowing smoothly. In the end this just frustrated and confused me as well as sucked any possible fun out of this game.

The main brunt of this game is found in a game mode called "Showdown Challange" where you can either create your own wrestler and wrestle through 3 decades(70's, 80's and 90's) or pick a wrestler from a slew of 73 wrestlers from over those past three decades. This is a definate area where the folks at Acclaim excelled. All of the favorites are here. However, all the wrestlers have the same moves! The only thing different is that each wrestler has there own finishing move. This is another area where Acclaim falls short providing very little variety or creativity with gameplay. If that's not enough to make you turn of the playstation 2 in disgust, you'll soon find that the 3 decades are only 5 matches each(with storylines and match types differing from decade to decade!) That's it 50 bucks for 15 matches in this games boasted "Showdown Challange."

The announcing is also very bland with lackluster commentary from Bobby "the Brain" Heenan, Larry Zybisko, and Tony Shavonie. None of the commentary flows well and most of the commentary is used up throughout the 1st hour of gameplay. Don't worry, you probably won't play it an hour so you won't have to hear it all.

I have been a wrestling fan for many years and I really bought this title for nastalga purposes. After playing it I realized that that even came through poor due to all the things wrong that I mentioned above. I have never played a more insulting wrestling title and I think the folks at Acclaim should be ashamed of themselves. This is there 3rd installment in the "Legends" franchise after two earlier that had lackluster success. I don't know how many more wrestling games acclaim needs to put out before they realize they can't put out, at best a mediocre wrestling title.

Close but no cigars. (not really close)

First let me say that I only play sports games. Those games include football, basketball, soccer (sometimes), and wrestling. I've been playing these games since the beginning of time. Does that make me an expert? Maybe.

Now lets get to this lousy game. "Lousy?" Of course. What else would you expect from Acclaim Sports? This Showdown: Legends of Wrestling game only offers one thing and that one thing is Legends. If you're desparate to have a wrestling game with a bunch of Legends than this game is for you. If you buy this game that's exactly what you'll have. A wrestling game with wrestling Legends.

Once you have the game you might as well not even bother unwrapping it. Just inclose it in a frame and hang it on the wall over your television. If you do bother playing it you will be filled with disappointment. The disappointment will come in the form of a ton of bugs during moves, game stalls, no title belts to be seen anywhere, and no rewards for completing any of the modes.

I could go on for days bashing this game but I'm probably running out of words so I'll just end with this. Showdown: Legends of Wrestling is definitely a game that should be placed under the "WHAT WERE THEY THINKING" category. What were they thinking when they made and/or tested this game, and what were you thinking when you bought it.

The truth about legends of wrestling

I've been playing wrestling games since 1988's WWF Wrestlemania for NES and I've played damn near every game since then for all consoles. I know my wrestling games and this one sucks. Although this game has some improvments over the former legends of wrestling games, it's still way short on moves. Only three Strikes per player! Thats right only three strikes per player...1 2 3!!! Forget about doing an irish whip into the ropes because the person being whipped can get out of it everytime by press square and I mean everytime, attacking from outside the ring, forget that too because it never works. Last time I checked the year was 2004 going on 2005 ..and Akklaim is releasing crap like this? Sad but true. The roster is the only reason I bought this game and its the only reason I gave it two stars. The rosters is awesome!

They Just Don't Get It

You would think that after nearly twenty years of making wrestling games Acclaim would have learned how to do it better than this by now. Sadly, this isn't the case. "Showdown" takes a very interesting concept and ruins it so much that it quickly reminds you why these legends are just that: Legends - meaning wrestlers of yesterday. Despite having pretty good graphics and options the game plays like an old Nintendo cartridge. The action is very slow and choppy and the commentary is way off timing at times. It's hard to nail your opponent with a single punch due to the frustrating play control. It's a great idea to have a game complete with all your favorite grapplers who paved the way for the new age entertainers but not when it plays like this. Acclaim has further added to it's tainted history of mediocre wrestling games. "Showdown" falls right into the category with all the silly SNES wrestling titles, along with "Warzone", "Attitude", and the ultra-horrible "ECW" game that hit N64. My best advice for "Showdown"- rent it, play it, enjoy seeing all your old favs, wish it was a better game, and ultimately save your money for "RAW Vs Smackdown" coming this November. And to Acclaim - please take some notes from THQ. Please.

Almost Unplayable

This game SUCKS!!! There is ONE good quality in this game and that is all the legends and after you choose your wrestler it's all downhill. The controls are terrible, the graphics are PS1 quality and there is only 5 unlockable characters and you unlock them all at once. This game is absoulutely unplayable. I recommend this game to hardcore wretling fans or someone who wants to spend $30-$50 on a game so crappy you can laugh at it and kick dirt in its face.

Big Names that pack a waek punch

This game is full of some of the greatest wrestlers of all time. I was looking forward to its realease for some time. It of course is missing a few of the biggest names(like Ric Flair) but that is the least of this games problems. The game is not challenging on any level of difficulty and the career mode just plain sucks. This game is worth buying only if you love the old school names and there look but if you are looking for a game fun to play for the long term this is not the game for you.
