Completely lost in the game

the game was soooooooo fun....

there's blood, weapons, cool moves, good legends, perfect graphics, etc.. THE GAME IS REALLY GOOD

First off I want to make a statement to several reviewers that made comments like "Why didn't they put him or her in the game".

WWE owns the rights to many wrestlers and their music. Acclaim can't just use them without permission, and can't simply just buy the rights to each and every wrestler.. so STOP the complaining that certain people aren't in the game. As for wanting TLC or other somewhat newer match types- this game is supposed to be about the past mainly.. NOT newer things.

The game may have some glitches, but it does have a great legends list. Legends 3 is improved over the past 2 Legends games, but still isn't the best. Fans of wrestling past (80's and older) will love this game. I highly doubt many Smackdown fans will like this, because they need all the bells and whistles of many match types and the like.

Best of the series!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to hand it to Acclaim as they have outdid themselves for this particular title. It is definitely the best of the series. The game controls are great and the game is easy to learn. Also they have so many different matchs. You also do not have to unlock other arenas and wrestlers as they are readily available. My only gripe is the commentating is repetitive, but I'm still giving it 5 stars as Acclaim has finally learned their lesson in making a wrestling game right.

THIS GAME IS SO FUNNY I ALWAYS CRACK UP WITH THE GLITCHES.ONE TIME I WAS
DOING A MATCH BAM BAM BIGALOW VS. BAM BAM BIGALOW IN A STEAL CAGE MY COUSIN BRIAN WAS JUMPING UP IN THE AIR HE PICKED ME UP AND WE WENT THROUGHT THE ROOF WE SAW A PARKING LOT.THEN BRYAN WAS SITTING IN THE AUDIENCE AND THE MATCH WAS STILL ON.BRIAN WAS JUMPING ON PEOPLES HEADS

Finally a wrestling game that packs the best of everything

I love this game. It features the best wrestlers of all time and makes me nostalgic for the great afternoons watching wrestling with my family. I enjoy all the great fighters with amazing graphics and great stadiums. And, for me the game play and controls were top notch and I had a great time playing with all my favorites of all time. This game is fantastic in almost every way.

First let me say that I only play sports games. Those games include football, basketball, soccer (sometimes), and wrestling. I've been playing these games since the beginning of time. Does that make me an expert? Maybe.

Now lets get to this lousy game. "Lousy?" Of course. What else would you expect from Acclaim Sports? This Showdown: Legends of Wrestling game only offers one thing and that one thing is Legends. If you're desparate to have a wrestling game with a bunch of Legends than this game is for you. If you buy this game that's exactly what you'll have. A wrestling game with wrestling Legends.

Once you have the game you might as well not even bother unwrapping it. Just inclose it in a frame and hang it on the wall over your television. If you do bother playing it you will be filled with disappointment. The disappointment will come in the form of a ton of bugs during moves, game stalls, no title belts to be seen anywhere, and no rewards for completing any of the modes.

I could go on for days bashing this game but I'm probably running out of words so I'll just end with this. Showdown: Legends of Wrestling is definitely a game that should be placed under the "WHAT WERE THEY THINKING" category. What were they thinking when they made and/or tested this game, and what were you thinking when you bought it.

Heading in the right direction

The choice of wrestlers here is simply amazing. That's the real hook of this game. I always wanted to play something like this when I was a kid. It's fun to have the option of having the Dynamite Kid wrestle Andre the Giant, and so on...

Unfortunately, as with almost all wrestling games, the controls are going to give you carpel-tunnel syndrome. Button-mashing and sloppy controls make it frustrating. If a game such as this could finally incorporate good conrols, we'd really have something.

Replay value is a little iffy. As ususal, you go through the same routine of using the same moves over and over to get the pin. The storyline mode in this is a good idea (you travel through the decades and wrestle the best of those eras.)

As far as variety of matches is concerned, they have outdone themselves. Choice of wrestlers is superb. If we could just get some kind of great stroyline mode combined with ease of wrestler control, well, here's hoping anyway.

This one makes a great rental.

Showdown does have a great variety of legends in this game but don't be fooled. The controls are still very hard to learn and seem to get stuck during game play. In addition, there are some glitches that need to be worked out in this game. For example, during the showdown challenge the announcers' voices become muffled and hard to understand, and the game gets stuck on a few screens while pulling off some wrestling holds and counterholds. Also, all wrestlers' moves are very similar to eachother and after awhile of game play it gets very boring quickly. It takes almost ten minutes to fill up your energy meter to perform your speciality move. The characters move very slow, and The replay value isn't very high. In my opinion, this game is just a remake of Legends of Wrestling II. with more legends. BeIieve it or not Legends of Wrestling II was more exciting. It doesn't even compare to the Smackdown Franchise video games. Take my advice please, save $50 bucks and rent it first. Be the judge for yourself. On a scale from 1-10. I may give it a 5-6 rating because I have been a wrestling fan for 25 years and even thats being generous. Acclaim needs to take some notes from THQ and learn how to make a real fun and exciting wrestling game!

Filled with bugs and glitches that spoil the game.

While the game boasts one of the greatest rosters ever put in a wrestling game, the bugs and glitches ruin this game. While Acclaim's idea was a good one, they deliver a game that feels more like an unfinished demo.
