Take it for what its worth, a fun game.

I personally love the game. I grew up watching wrestling and while I dont watch it much anymore, it is fun to play with all the guys I grew up watching. The graphics are great, and while there are some minor glitches, it is a fun game to watch. I like the controls and the music is cool. The commentating gets a little old but you can turn it down and listen to music ( I have found that listening to 80s rock really takes you back.)I cant say much about the career modes or special features because I mainly play a few matches to break up the monotony of Ncaa and Madden football games. Anyways I wouldn't reccomend buying it new but if you can get it used, as you can here, I would do it. Great for old WWF fans and its at least worth a rent.

It still doesn't offer

This game lacks the most in the gameplay department. Look at the Smackdown! titles, each year they manage to get the graphics and the gameplay just right, this game always manages to get one. The graphics in this game is superb (hence the 3 stars), and that's about as much as the game will ever offer. Season mode is more limited in this year's edition, and if you remember touring throughout USA in the first, and the World in the second, well, this has neither one. You will fight in remote locations that seem to resemble each other overtime.

The legends are an actual dissappointment. Where's Yokozuna, Undertaker, Sid, Lex Luger, Razor Ramon and Ric Flair. Showdown is a big upset in a way. The graphics is the only thing that'll knoeck you off your feet, but other than that, the gameplay is way too cheesy for today's gen players, and the sound is overall...crap!

If you'd like to play a console game featuring the greatest legends and cornerstones of the wrestling world, i'll doubt you'll ever find it. Although EA is planning to develop a wrestling title of their own that will feature more that 50 legends, that's the closest you'll ever get.

Almost Unplayable

This game SUCKS!!! There is ONE good quality in this game and that is all the legends and after you choose your wrestler it's all downhill. The controls are terrible, the graphics are PS1 quality and there is only 5 unlockable characters and you unlock them all at once. This game is absoulutely unplayable. I recommend this game to hardcore wretling fans or someone who wants to spend $30-$50 on a game so crappy you can laugh at it and kick dirt in its face.

This game is the best game ever in history. No doubt this is the only game that will feature 70 wrestlers from the 70's 80's and the 90's. From hulk hogan to the best there is, bret the hitman hart. The game features good controls, good sounds and good gameplay. Alot of classic match are in this game. Ladder, cage, tables, every other match u can think of these day that they don't have. This game is the best. Buy it *****

You would think that after nearly twenty years of making wrestling games Acclaim would have learned how to do it better than this by now. Sadly, this isn't the case. "Showdown" takes a very interesting concept and ruins it so much that it quickly reminds you why these legends are just that: Legends - meaning wrestlers of yesterday. Despite having pretty good graphics and options the game plays like an old Nintendo cartridge. The action is very slow and choppy and the commentary is way off timing at times. It's hard to nail your opponent with a single punch due to the frustrating play control. It's a great idea to have a game complete with all your favorite grapplers who paved the way for the new age entertainers but not when it plays like this. Acclaim has further added to it's tainted history of mediocre wrestling games. "Showdown" falls right into the category with all the silly SNES wrestling titles, along with "Warzone", "Attitude", and the ultra-horrible "ECW" game that hit N64. My best advice for "Showdown"- rent it, play it, enjoy seeing all your old favs, wish it was a better game, and ultimately save your money for "RAW Vs Smackdown" coming this November. And to Acclaim - please take some notes from THQ. Please.

I love this game, only Smackdown vs. Raw is better. The best part about this game is all the ledgends like Hulk hoagen, Andr'e the giant, Sting, Bret Hitman Heart, The mouth of the south Jimmy heart, road warrior hawk,Brutus Beefcake, and The Rock and thats only a few. But if your looking for the best character Hulk Hoagens your man. Also the dynamic moves and graphics are fanaminall.

Every game should have this roster of wrestlers. These guys are the ones I respect and cheer for. When my son and I play this game, we get engaged in being these guys and living their fights. We love their stories and playing as them. The graphics relay to us the real action and the stadiums for once come to earth in perfect visual flair. Other games don't cater to the type of wrestling fan we are; we want the legends brought to life. This game is fun; its graphics are great; the gameplay makes us yearn for the days of watching fights which kept us glued to our seats week after week.

I got the game a few days ago, and I was wondering if the empty boxes on the character select screen were for hidden characters. If it is for hidden people can somebody tell me how to get them

thanks

This game is full of some of the greatest wrestlers of all time. I was looking forward to its realease for some time. It of course is missing a few of the biggest names(like Ric Flair) but that is the least of this games problems. The game is not challenging on any level of difficulty and the career mode just plain sucks. This game is worth buying only if you love the old school names and there look but if you are looking for a game fun to play for the long term this is not the game for you.
