Bioshock for the PC is a wonderful game. The weapons, upgrades for the weapons, and the plasmids add a great deal to the game. I just loved electrocuting things or setting them on fire. Because of that along with the mix of controls and AI, the gameplay was exactly what you would want from any first person shooter. The story was interesting and well-written. The graphics were amazing, but they weren't groundbreaking. With the graphic settings maxed out, the game looked great but didn't exceed games like FEAR. The water was the best looking thing in the game. The realism and texture of the water added a huge feel to Rapture. The game ran so smooth I was shocked. (It would be wise to download the latest drivers before you play this game.)
The ending was slightly disappointing in how abrupt it was but that's all I'll mention about that. However, despite the ending the game was very long. A lot of things to uncover and explore. The arrow pointing to where to go helped me find my way, but don't depend on it too much when you have to do without it on some parts.
The game doesn't have as much replay value as I thought. By the end, I found myself going "Wow, this was an amazing game. Well, I'll uninstall it now." Go through the game a second time and Big Daddies will be in different places. You have several ways to clear a room out but in the end it's the same old quests and I found myself doing every possible kill by the time I beat the game that going back to do it on the first level wasn't really necessary.

BioShock is one of those games which will make game developers think to themselves "why didn't we do that?" It is the greatest game since Half-Life and that is saying a lot. It blends elements of role playing games into a shooter and lets you play the game the way you want. You can customize your weapons and abilities to your needs, and I have yet to encounter another gamer who's equipped with the same weapons and abilities or tackling obstacles the same way that I am. There are choices to be made in the game, something other games don't let you make.
If you're looking for another mindless shooter, look elsewhere. BioShock has made a giant splash in PC gaming and soon other developers will begin to copy it as they did with DOOM and Half-Life, so you might as well see what all the fus is about and play BioShock the way you want to play it.
If you're thinking of buying the game now, I'd recommend you get it over Steam as you won't have to play with the disc in the drive and you will always stay up-to-date with Steam's automatic update system. If you're worried about losing your CD-key or disc, don't because Steam doesn't use either and if your computer ever dies on you, you can download BioShock to your computer with a few mouse clicks and be ready to play real quick (depending on your internet connection speed).
In the end, however you get the game, you will not be disappointed.
Im sure it's great, but enough with all of the first person shooters!

I love video games and always have, but is it just me or has the first person shooter genre become todays sidescroller. I mean seriously, we have more diverse ways to make games now then ever, so what is with 8 out of 10 games being a freaking fps. I used to love fps games until one day when halo came out, and even though I have never played it nor have I ever owned an xbox or a 360, it still seems that since the halo series almost every game is in fps format. I have to say I still like to sit down and play a good fps, but I just can't help but believe that in a time when we are capable of great diversity amongst video games we are limiting ourselves to one genre. Please, before you try another fps, go grab the red star for ps2 or even contra and try those games on because I can assure that even though they may not be as appealing to some due to the lack of depth and story, they make up for it by being more than average in the fun dept, as well as in challenge.
Its OK

If your on a PC you'll need what the game recommends as the best performance hardware to really enjoy it. So far, I haven't beaten it yet. It's a little too hard for 39 r old guys but my 15 yr old son digs it.
Outstanding Originality and Fun!!!

I'm an avid PC gamer so I know a decent game when I come accross it. This game is a fantastic single-player FPS adventure. The theme, storyline, atmosphere, player interactions, choices, and pure mastery completely place the player in this obscure, underwater realm. I dare not speak any further of the plot as I can make an analogy of this game to a really great book! The level of creativity, detail and originality in this game will likely become a lead in its own class! There is no multiplayer option which isn't a disappointment because I already knew about it and now so do you. Don't miss this game and enjoy!
Very good game. I have the full version.

The game is simply amazing! I never played the Bioshock predecessors but this one has great graphics, story and animations. The story had me sucked in right away and the creepy setting has me on the edge of my seat wondering what I will run into around the next corner or in the next room. The sounds in game are also very well done and add nicely to the atmosphere of the game. The genetic upgrades in the game are a blast to use as well as the regular weapons. I really am enjoying playing this game. If you like single player FPS games you mostly likely will enjoy this game. If you like hopping online to play against others you might want to look elsewhere.
The only reason the game gets a 4 vs 5 stars is because of the techincal issues I had installing. Make sure you meet the minimum requirments for the PC version and honestly I say you shouldn't play the game on PC unless you meet the reccomended system requiremnts. Just upgrade your audio and video card drivers to the latest versions before you start playing to avoid some of the issues others are experiencing. Of course even after doing so you may still experience some problems. If you still do have issues try lowering the in-game resolution and graphic settings. Good luck.
EDIT: Also, I downloaded the game online VIA Valve's Steam program so that might explain why I had less technial issues than others.

If you love First Person Shooter games this game is great. That being said if your not crazy about FPS titles this game is still good but don't expect to be WOWED by it.

Bioshock dates back to the year 1960, where a man, simply named "Jack" is the sole surviver of an Airplane crash in the middle of the Atlantic. Right outside the plane there is a lone building leading him to pictures of all of man's achivements: Art. Science, Industry, Business. And in the very center is an elevator that leads down into the abyss, and a massive underwater city called "Rapture"
BioShock is the adventure of escaping the city of Rapture. The city is far ahead of it's time, meaning theres inventions far ahead of it's time. You get your basic guns: A Wrench, Pistol, Sub Machine Gun, Shotgun, Crossbow, Grenade Launcher, Flamethrower. Youll be able to customize the guns as you progress though the game altering things like their firepower and accuracy. The other big weapon you get are called Plasmids, which are basicly in short, Magic. Your plasmids range from electricity, to fire, and there are several other abilities you can get.
BioShock is an amazing game. Theres no Multiplayer, so if your looking for a Online FPS your better off with a game like TF2. But, if your looking for a game with solid game play, 2 Endings, amazing graphics, and a powerful story, then do yourself a favor and, would you kindly play BioShock
