An new update to a classic series

Once you get into it, this game does a pretty good job of capturing the feel of the original while updating to the kind of 3D game play expected these days. It eases you into things slowly. A bit too slowly for my taste. My only real complaint is the way the camera likes to hide behind opaque objects in the middle of combat so you can't see the prince. Thankfully, the combats are brief & easy so that you can get back to the kind of gameplay that the game is really all about.

I must have completed this game at least eight times since I got it for christmas (with a ps2 might I add) Everything about it is a classic, 100% grade A work from pop team and ubisoft. Ok ok, I admit the start of the game is a little bit dull, that is until you retreive the dagger only about 5% of the way into the game. Its not a very long game, I can finish it in about 4 hours, I know all the secrets (I work in a chat game help text service the number to call if you need help or secrets is 0773 1331 864 not only for popsot but a number of many games charged at standard rate. text the word, pshelp)

You'll begin the game, the first 30% with a rather pathetic sword, but the sand creatures you face mach it so don't worry. The different levels all merge into the princes journey (with Farah) they follow as - Outside the Maharajahs palaces and its defences, inside the palace of Azah, in a warehouse, the sultan zoo, the baths, in castles, underground reseviours, baths, hall of learning, prison, the tower of dawn, a tomb, and climbing the tower. Throughout these stagest, 3 sword up grades. Finishing with a weapon that can eliminate sand cratures with a single successful strike (kicking doesn't count).

there are many magic fountains availiable throught the game, Game service mentioned above know the werabouts of them all so please feel free to ask for help.

Better than its predecessor!

PoP made by Ubisoft was obviously entertaining. The prince could upgrade his weapon. The last blade could woop the monster in one slash.

The game itself offered different varieties of puzzles. You needed to use your brain to get the puzzles solved. The puzzles that I think is quite challenging are: the pillar of light, some of the mirrors' puzzle, and the room of tomb. It's not that difficult though.

The prince had to use his acrobatic skills, such as vaulting, to jump from platform to another platform.

I really the "rewind" system because you can know how to react on certain circumstances. The bullets of time is limited so use it wisely.

The game also offered the classic game of PoP simply by following these instructions:
Start a new game, stay in balcony, hold L3 and press X, square, triangle, circle, triangle, X, square, circle.

Well the Sands of Time, is the first of the saga, made in 2003. So the graphics are pretty well done for the time that was made, I personally love more the TWO TRONES, but the style of Sands of Time and Two Trones I really liked, the Warrior Within is the one that I didnt like that much.

A must have for any action-adventure fan

Prince of Persia begins and plays out with the titular character recounting the tale of how he acquired the infamous Dagger of Time, and unwittingly condemned an entire kingdom. It all started as Sharaban, a Persian king and the hero's father, invaded the land of a Maharajah. There was betrayal from within as the kingdom's own vizier opened the gates to make way for the Persian invasion. In exchange, the vizier was promised his choice of the Maharajah's treasures, among which were the "Hourglass of Time", the "Dagger of Time", and the "Pearl of Time". During the invasion, the Prince aims to please his father by securing one of the legendary treasures himself from the treasure vault.

Thus is the stage set for Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Players must combine their own resourcefulness with the Prince's athleticism and skill in combat to make their way through the Kingdom of Azad, and eventually confront the Vizier for his treachery. Along the way, the Prince meets up with Farah, the Maharajah's daughter, and the two must work together to stave off the attacks of the sand creatures, and create their own path through the ruined palace. The journey will be laden with difficulty as the Prince must jump from one platform to another, scale ladders and pillars, swing from poles and ropes, dodge rotating blades and moving columns of spikes. At times he will even defy the laws of physics by literally running along walls, and repel from them to reach an opposing location.

Once the player has gotten used to the basic mechanics of the game, it becomes a matter of figuring out which combination of actions will allow them to advance. There may be a locked gate on the ground floor of a vast multi-level room, and the switch to open it is high on some balcony. Of course there will be no staircase or gondola to take you there, and so the Prince will have to make use of his skills and the environment to reach it. There are various puzzles as well, of the traditional block pushing and plate-stepping variety, but all of which seem logical within the context of the game.

The entire adventure takes place in the various parts of the palace of Azad, from the reception room to great halls, from the Sultan's personal zoo to the depths of the dungeon. The environments are spacious and meticulously designed, and so diverse that it seems hard to believe they're all part of the same castle. There is considerable attention to detail, from reflections in water to the cracks in aging concrete structures. The character models are designed economically, using lower poly counts than some of the other graphical powerhouse games out there, but probably as a compromise for the vast environments. Still they are more than adequate within the gestalt of the game's visuals, and are not likely to draw many complaints.

In conclusion, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is a quick adventure; With its simple control scheme, intuitive and fast-paced battles, there is little to stop most players completing it in around ten hours. With gameplay reminiscent of Sony's ICO, only with a more in-depth combat system, it should fit well into the collections of platform and action-adventure gamers alike.

Beautiful game. Playing previous games, I'm used to dying a lot due to faulty controls. I'm amazed how little I die in this game. And it's still incredibly challenging. Some small camera problems but overall a great game.

When Ubisoft sees success in a franchise, it doesn't waste any time preparing a sequel--as proven by the many games that start with "Tom Clancy's&" on the market in recent years. Best of all, the sequels are usually as good, if not better than, their predecessors. That's certainly the case with this year's Prince of Persia, subtitled Warrior Within. On the surface, Warrior Within could be classified as a second part to last year's reinvention of the Prince of Persia franchise, Sands of Time. Those who played Sands will be comfortable getting the hero to do his trademark wall runs, jumps from column to column, and other acrobatics. They'll also feel right at home when it comes time to fight, as a mix of sword fighting and gymnastic moves to keeps enemies off-balance. However, instead of just making new levels for the prince to romp through, the developers have deepened the gameplay with more fighting moves (including some cool throws and other close-up combat), dual weapon wielding, a big selection of weapons (some with bonus effects), and--perhaps adding the most fun to the game--a broader catalog of time powers. The character is easy to control, but learning the large quantity of combos makes for a highly rewarding game. The designers have also gone for a darker mood within the game, as well as for the title protagonist. It's clear that his 2003 adventure has left him more than a little pissed, something he surely takes out on each and every baddie who crosses his path with lots of bloodshed. He also seems to have aged a bit, though it could just be the vast artistic improvements made to his face that give that impression. The game suffers on the technical front--and it's something that many developers and publishers still can't quite figure out: 3-D camera handling. There are times when you'll be close to a wall, and it'll make swinging the camera to where you want to look a bit difficult. In other situations, the cinematically styled viewpoint is forced on you, with the perspective zooming out on the whole room, which can make some critical navigation and aerobatics more difficult than they'd be if you could put the camera right where you want it. Still other situations have the camera drifting a bit while you move, which makes some hazards that much harder to overcome. Chances are, you'll be able to overlook most of Warrior Within's foibles in favor of the hours of entertainment the game will offer. If you've been saying, "Someday my prince will come," you can be sure he's here now.

When I saw the commercials for Prince of Persia, I thought it looked pretty cool and the demo was awesome. So, I finally bought it and guess what? It just flat-out rocks! First off, the graphics are simply breath-taking. It's almost like a work of art. Even the CG cineamatics are incredible. Voice acting is surprisingly good( I'm still baffled of why some of the characters speak with both British and Scottish accents) and the music is great too. Controls are very simple and easy to get into. The challenge factor of the game is decent. Not too hard, but not too easy either, especially with the swordfights and having to protect Farrah. Replay value is okay, unless you've unlocked the original POP. My only nitpicks? The game is a tad short and sometimes Farrah gets in the way or hurts you by accident, causing some cheap deaths but it's never too annoying. The game should be pretty cheap now, so go and buy it. I'm looking forward to its sequel, Prince of Persia:The Warrior Within. Excellent game I give it a 5 out of 5. Semper Fi, Carry on.

This game is hard belive me. But you will like it my favorite thing is how he moves. He can run on walls backflip summersult then stab he also can break through walls jump off a wall and then cut. His time moves are awsome he can stop time go back in time slow time and the powerfullest move the prince knows is he frezes time then speeds up to the opponent and in three seconds your opponent is destroyed. But you don't get that move for a long time in the game. Well any ways the story starts in a large palace and go easy on the humans there its the only time you'll face them. once you've got the dagger of time and you got back to the hour glass you'll then go back to your own palace and there vizer will trick you into unlocking the sands of time. And here is where you start to fight the sand creatures and sand creatures are made of a sand monster and of rotting human flesh. And if you leave a sand creature on the ground to long it will start to come to life again. some creatures you can't jump over or defend against. Any ways as my title says you probaly want to know about the swords well here I'll tell you about them. well you start out with a wimpy small sword then after a while you get a bigger and stronger sword what can smash walls to the ground then you get a huge sharp blade what can also break through walls but is more effective on enemies then you get a large blade which can break through walls with one slash you can kill a sand creature.

One of the Best Games I Have Ever Played, Too Bad It Took This Long

Sands of Time has such a great variety that you always look for in a game. It has great gameplay, beautiful graphics/music and challenging puzzles. This isn't for amatuer gamers because the puzzles can be quite challenging to where it takes a little while to figure some out. The graphics for the game are some of the best for the PS2. Overall, it's as good as the hype says it is. The only downside is that the "boss" fights are easy, but you'll never hear me say that is a bad thing
