I must tell you I have already try this game and it is a very dood game the grapics are awesome and the cops are incredible this is a must buy game

I was really disappointed with this game. The cops aren't a threat at all even on the highest difficulty setting, the "damage" your car takes is purely cosmetic and has no bearing on the performance of your car, and the physics are terrible. You hit an oncoming car head on and you jump over it. Yeah right.

This is the best racer ther is by far!!!

I just purchaesed NFS: HP2 and it is the best on by far. Everything from the cars to the tracks you race on. The AI for the cops are very aggressive and that is a plus because it puts more challenge into the game. I have made it to the point where the police chopper actually starts dropping stop sticks to slow me down. This game you got to have for the PS2 library

I was totally blown away by this title! Incredible, fast, action-packed! So much fun to run from the cops, or even take on the role of the law yourself. so many cars to be won! I am in a trance when I play this game.

While the old games in the series were about crashing and racing, Hot Pursuit 2 is more about the racing, but allows some crashing, damage is detailed as is the whole game. When the player hits a traffic car it's like hitting a rock, in some instances you can flip the traffic vehicles, but the player or any other racers or police cannot flip. However, the each car handles destinctively different and very realistically. So this would leave you to believe there would be tracks like GT3, well, that's not true there are multiple routes you can take, the entire track is very free and open, not tight and restricting as GT3. The tracks are part of what sets this game apart from GT3, they remain even more true to the NFS theme as any game in the series has before. Speed is tremendous, the feeling you get is almost lifelike. You can actually go over 240 mph in the McLaren F1, GT3 you can do this, but not while trying to get away from multiple cops, as well as a helicopter that drops gas barrels that explode upon impact. This sounded funny to me to but it's a cool challenge to dodge them. The game is almost a combination of all the previous games in the series, while adding some new things, this game will take a while to complete, even if you win every single race the first time. I have won most the races I've done, but every single one was challenging and I still am not sure wether I will win until the races is over, GT3 you know wether you'll win or not from the get go. I would say that this is the best racing game I have ever played, if all the cars could crash better, it would be the best.
The sound is also lifelike, a races of Ferrari 360's sounded like I was watching the SPEED channel. Smoke and dirt and water fly at you with amazing detail, and at points you can't see where you are going. this game is just so much you have to check it out, but if you like driving games, this is a buy. There are many cars in this game, but not as many as GT3, but there is no need, they have the best cars ever made and most you can't drive in any other game, no Asian cars though. You can do so much in this game. People may not like the loose handling of the cars but it takes getting used to, these cars handle like real cars, so you can spin them out, you can fish tail them, you can light up the tires around the corner with control, just like you can with a real rwd car. If you spin the tires in GT3 you pretty much lose control. Great game, I just wish all the cars could flip.

NFS:HP2 is hands down the best racing game on PS2. I bought GT3 when I first bought my PS2 and Test Drive the day it came out. Those games have both been sold. NFS was well worth the wait. Lots of great cars and beautifully rendered tracks. The game is exciting and addicting to play. I played it so much the first few days I had it my right thumb, the one used for accelerating, was numb for 24 hours. I won't be able to play another game until everything is unlocked. Overall, one of my Top 5 PS2 games.

I bought it the first day it came out for PS2. But I guess I was expecting too much. Having been at GT3 for quite some time now, this game isnt serious. For a few secs, I was quite surprised at my car control..and then I figured out, you leave the steering and just press the gas, the cars still manages to do 80mph and never run off track..so its kids stuff. Braking isnt even close to what it should be, no rpm control, and the cars magically take corners at unbelievable speeds... where one should expect a 50mph cornering speed, this lets you do at 100+. It is in no way for the technically minded and serious racers. But for youngsters and people not wanting to be bothered with technicalities - its probably good..chases are fun, you get to drive exotic cars [ though none of the cars have an identity in engine sound/feel or anything else. ] Sorry about this ... I am just a messenger.

This game rocks, blows burnout 2 out of the water cuz it aint timed racing... However I agree there could be improvement. Like the tracks seem redundant and I think they could have been varied much better and more different from each other. Th cars are great! But the NFS edition of them kinda sucks, they should of canned that idea and let us supe them up. And as for a secret car it should have been the bugatti veyron and the f60 oh well. Crashes suck too however its very good entertainment that lasts a long time.

Let me start out by saying that I got this game based on the review of a friend of mine who played it and said how great the game was. Problem is that it gets boring after awhile. The 49 cars are the unlockable cars and he said you start out with a lot of choices. I don't think 7 cars is a lot of choices. The physics were unexceptable and certainly more unrealistic than anything else I've ever played. It was like Crazy Taxi. Anyway, the game gives you a lot of modes to play in, however all most all of the challenages are only allowable with the game chosen car not one of the many you unlocked. I managed to get 11 cars unlocked in the first day of play, through cheat codes and plain skill. But many of the earlier unlocked cars are worthless and they keep using the same tracks in these beginning challenages as well, so the lack of variety is the downfall of this game. It was a fun pick up and play game and that is why it gets 3 stars and the game was fun but after HOURS of playing it, it just didn't stack up to Nascar Thunder, Gran Turismo, or even Simpsons Road Rage. The pursuit modes in this game were easy for me and I've never played Hot Pursuit before. I think the developers should have considered waiting with this title until they could figure out better graphics, better physics, and some weather. Finally what is the deal with soild natural rails that appear just all of a sudden to stop your progress into the background. This game doesn't allow the player to roam nearly enough.
This is definitely a rental and if your not very good at the game maybe a buy. But for a hardcore racing game person this game doesn't meet the mark.
